Thank you very much for this insightful submission.

However, I have few questions.

We know there's usually a quarterly ceiling to what each entity and individual can access, what happens if one reaches its limit and genuinely requires Forex for essential need like health or goods at the port about to enter demurrage

Also accessing Forex at banks requires huge documentation and we all know the bureaucratic nature of this country, what happens if 1 has a deal to settle but can't furnish the bank all necessary documents

Lastly, we know allocation of Forex at times as to do with them them and long queue. Those who require might not get it within required timeframe whilst the big guns cut corners, how does CBN & DMBs in the country intends to address this.

I feel the idea is good but has the apex bank worked on ease of accessibility, documentation, fast allocation and other bottleneck to get this going without adversely affecting geninue users who have been transacting via BDC channel for years?

I think we have a long way to go and this policy will affect us negatively ( just like border closing). This won't stop round tripping and racketeering, bankers have been empowered and the cartels will start operations. After all who's going to monitor their dealing and how often does CBN conduct on site supervision?

In all a good policy with bad implementation tools and strategy.

MadeMan01:

Its actually a Very good decision and long overdue. It is shameful that a country has two different exchange rates for FOREX, it shows the government is not in control of the FOREX economy all this while. This thrived because a lot of politicians and their cronies were getting license to open Bureau De Change and they were just getting licenses. Now the banks were using some of them to sell FOREX to public to make money faster at higher levels with less restrictions posed by documentation. However, things got so bad when the volume of money controlled by BDC was so much that it was almost equalling what banks had or exceeded what the banks had. That is why sometime bank say they don't have Forex, or you go to BDC and only see one teller or two at counter and can't get $1000. But go to Mallam on street, you will get any quantity when he arranged his colleagues together at higher rate to you. Where are the mallams getting dollar if not from the CBN and banks. So the BDCs could affect the FOREX economic policy of government.
CBN should go further. To give a one month deadline for all BDC to sell their FOREX to banks and after which date any Forex they bring will be exchanged at discounted value to them in order to mop up all Forex stashed in BDC hands and threaten to revoke their license. That way all the scarce Forex hoarding by BDC will be back in banks hand and it will improve supply for banks to sell to public at govt stated rate.
It lasted all this while from obasanjo days when $1 was sold at N22 by CBN and banks were selling through BDC at N88. A lot of bank MDs became billionaire by this and FCMB chairman founder was sanctioned for one of these reasons then.

it's always necessary to submit your personal account and any personal assets. Very important, however small it may be.
Meanwhile, order for your GCMS notes to find out the way they derived the Financial status verdict

Please I just sent you an email

I don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news

Thanks in advance
I'm sorry man.
@bolded and on the contrary, it takes some level of courage to let everyone know your application was denied. Application refusal is actually more common than approval. Like I stated sometime ago, nairaland doesn't show the true reality. It is easy to let everyone know you got PPR. I can't say the same for application refusal.
You obviously already know you need to order your GCMS note. I'm guessing concerns were raised regarding 3rd party sponsor. Sufficient balance is not the only factor looked at. Demonstrating genuine access to it is also important. Your uncle needs to show some level of commitment by paying your tuition fee even if it is first semester, and/or transfer fund for living expenses to you. You can also consider GIC arrangement (I personally prefer having the fund in a dormiciliary USD account, it just seems more convincing than having it in a naira account). And yes, if you're a salary earner, submit the account even if the balance is low. Print when you're paid sha. Wishing you all the best.

NB: (Even if all this is done, you still need to submit your uncle's statement of account)

Hello my good people

I submitted an application for a study permit and my husband is my primary sponsor and my brother in Canada is my co-sponsor but I did not state my brother in my SOP as a co-sponsor. Although my brother attached some of his documents, account statement and so on.

Not stating him in my SOP, is it gonna be a problem

Thanks

Well said. It's actually best that people do not feel ashamed to declare refusals. People on the forum will only inspire you to repackage and re-apply. No one will judge because we are all on this ship. Success is sweeter when you have tastes failure.

What if you are not a salary owner and your sponsor got a letter from the establishment(money market) saying they can access the funds and your first semester fee has been paid, do I need to still bother about not submitting my account statement
