I just bought this phone three days ago, immediately I inserted my sim I received this message, yesterday when I changed the sim to slot1 the message also popped up again.

Have you received this before, anyone has idea what it means.

N.B: I bought the phone as fairly used from FB marketplace.

Please try and locate the fellow you bought it from on Facebook, don't tell him anything is wrong, screenshot the earlier advert he made about the phone if he hasn't deleted it.

Befriend him and stylishly try to get details of his address and how to find him.

This is your only guarantee of freedom else you're going straight to jail cos if you don't have proof of purchase from an individual on Facebook, you're toast.

Y'all should stop buying fairly used phone or used phone from unknown people. Tons of people are rotten in jail because of that.

From the screenshot he uploaded, you'll discover that the message is actually entering both sim 1 and sim 2

Hold your peace. Keep all your evidence and wait for whatever. If nothing comes up, continue to use your phone

Thank you all for your contributions. I think the message is for MTN backup based on what I saw on this thread.

This is the major reason I always advised people to away from buying second hand used phones. It is still a simple case if it's a case of lost or stolen phone but a deadly and costly mistake if the owner of the phone happened to be murdered.

The guy you mentioned gonna spend years in prison before he will be acquitted IF ever

Receipt doesn't mean anything, a seller can write a wrong name and address on the receipt for a buyer.... just call, tell him you want to buy another phone.

Even if he does as you suggest(which is right), knowing our police, he will still spend millions to get him off the wahala.

They will never hear. If you money can afford 20k phone, go to reputable shop eg slot and buy 20k phone or finance a more expensive one. Issue is that you buy brand new.
Dont go for used phones because the wahala is just not worth it.
We have even heard of police passing used phones into circulation and then tracking them months later, saying they were stolen by armed robbers just to extort the current buyer.
Nna the wahala aren't worth it.
