Dear Applicant,

Your regular B appointment at the US Embassy Abuja has been cancelled.
The Embassy and Consulate General continue to prioritize travelers with urgent travel needs, although regular visa appointments are made available as the local conditions allow. In response to ongoing pandemic-related service disruptions, the Department of State announced the extension of Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fee validity until September 30, 2022 for individuals who paid an MRV fee, but were unable to schedule and/or attend an interview during the suspension of services. If you have an urgent matter and need to travel immediately, please follow the guidance provided at https://ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-expeditedappointment.asp to request an emergency appointment. Please visit https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/covid-19-information.html for information about the current status of visa services worldwide and visa restrictions related to the COVID-19 global pandemic: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/covid-19-information.html.

Please note this appointment was cancelled by the US Embassy and cannot be reversed by call center agents. Students and Emergency applicants are not affected by this cancellation.

Sincerely,

So does this mean you have to reschedule another appointment which is probably oct 2022?

I didn't buy furnitures from the stores because they are very expensive. I used facebook market place and saw some good furnitures from people who are willing to sell theirs, they are quite affordable and sometimes they will deliver as well. The only new furniture I will recommend buying is your mattress but it all depend on your budget. If you have the money then you can get the ones from the store. I never bought anything in the US using credit because the last time I checked as a student you are not suppose to do that on f2 visa, I didn't want to violate my visa since I knew I will be returning back to Naija.

As per the bolded, this is the first time I am hearing of such however, all the students I have met on F-1 visa all got credit cards as a way to start building credit while in school. I am thinking of financing options and I am currently discussing with some furniture stores to see what I can get so that I don't have to change them any time soon. I am trying to work within a reasonable budget for the entire apt.

Stella91:

what state are you moving from in the Northeast?
Moving from Michigan.

The reason I said that is, while I was in school and wanted to purchase my car on credit i.e finance it. But I was told by the dealership that it is not allowed on F1 visa. But if you are talking about owning a credit card from stores and all... that is allowed cos I had a couple with some stores.

Good day to you all, I will appreciate people that have good experience on this matter for advice. My parents have visited the US on two different occasions in the past, but presently their visas are expired. They applied for a visa again early this year with one of my brethren who is a level 12 FG worker with a Ph.D. Who will help them during the journey Due to difficulty in getting desired dates earlier this year, we gave an agent to get the desired date for us. After about four months without dates from an agent, we asked him for our log-in details, and we discovered he separated our parents (dad and mum) from my brother who is going with them. We tried to correct that by adding my brother to the parent profile, but that was not possible again. We now chose the same interview date and time for the next year. I want to know the chance of my brother getting a visa? Because he will be interviewed by a different CO from the parent at the same time and date. Although he is married to a wife, and they are expecting. Or should we start an afresh application that will have their profile together?

If it is same date and time, they can enter together and go to same VO so long as they line up together and ensure they are not separated. I once applied together with my family but on divine wisdom I separated myself from my family. No worries, just ensure they enter together and line up together.

You cannot enter with your phone, you either leave it at home, in your car or engage one of the guys usually around the consulate/Embassy.

joywepo Your brother us married with a wife!
He really does not need to apply with your parents, even if they interview together, they will likely base decisions on individuals rather than everyone in a group.

There have been time VOs approve some and deny others in a group interview.

His focus now should be how to convince the VO beyond reasonable doubts that he qualifies fie the visa fost=10427112:

Hello guys,

Is it possible to "update profile" for dependent family members attached to your appointment?

I no longer have access to their DS-160 so I want to create a new one and update it on the appointment page.

When I click on "Update Profile" on the page, it only shows that of the principal applicant without access to the other family members.

I look forward to your help. Thanks

I will definitely get in touch. I'm hoping for a refund.

Hello… How long did it take for Emirates to refund you, please? I’m in almost the same boat and I’m curious. Thanks a lot.

Full refund was communicated to be paid after 21 business days of flight cancellation but that option wasn't working for me because I needed to be in the US as scheduled. Then another option was some administrative charges would be deducted if I wanted refund earlier than 21 business days, so I agreed with the booking agency (Wakanow) to book another airline - Qatar Airways and I only paid additional 45k at the end. Hope this is helpful and informative.

[quote author=Ruggedly post=100230065]Guys please I need a few suggestions here.
A friend of mine went to the US 3 years ago and cos of the nature of her job she was able to stay for 5 months and came back. She had no intentions of staying back cos she’s been to the US couple of times and came back after 1 month of all her trip but this particular trip 3 years ago was her first time staying that long.

She tried re applying but the fact she states 5 months and simply told the VO that she just had free time and decided to stay that long but had no intention of staying back and for that reason she was denied. The VO asked why she stayed for 5 months and she said it was just a long holiday.

Honestly it was just an innocent stay or I’ll call it long holiday and time off and she is finding it very hard to explain why she stayed long because it wasn’t anything serious.

Now she is re applying again and her worry is how she can defend the long 5 months holiday because she has a good job here and has travelled to several other countries. It was just an innocent long holiday and taking time off.

Please any one who can give a good suggestion will be highly appreciated.

I think the Embassy did her a Favor by not Renewing her visa, if the visa was renewed it will be revoked at port of entry. Nigeria is a Red Flag Country for visa Fraud, even if you are CEO of a Company you don't take 5 months vacation at once. her Explanation did not add up.

I know someone who was in the US for 4 months 3 weeks and she got her visa renewed without any issue and she has travelled to the US. I don’t understand where the visa fraud is here . She works in showbiz and a lot of time entertainers take time off . It was just the difficult trump administration that caused that denial . She didn’t over stay her six months and didn’t abuse her visa so where is the visa fraud ?
