Thank you.

Hi,

Please can you guide on how you presented your case for EA.

I’m switching to Abuja and I would like to present a most compelling case in hopes of getting my EA approved.

Thank you.

I just want to give hope to anyone here. I applied for EA in Abuja about 2weeks ago and I got approved but I was not lucky enough then because the earliest available date then was 17th August, Yesterday I applied to another EA because I still had that on my profile and I got my EA approved again that same yesterday, was not even up to 30 minutes in Abuja and got a favorable date in 11 August. I got two EA approvals in a space of 1 week. Please if you still have EA in your portal, request for another immediately especially if it’s in ABUJA. You meant just get it this time around. If they are yet to respond to you, keep sending emails. They surely do read our emails.

Thank you all as I wait here for your resposes.

Vo: why or what's your purpose in USA/ Travel plan.
Me: I'm going to the US to pursue my masters degree in social work at Morgan state university in Baltimore.
Vo: why this course?
Me: caring for people especially the vulnerables has always been my passion and what I love to do. I've decided to master in social work as it tend to turn my passion into a profession.
Vo: what's your study plan?
Me: I would be offering just 4 courses in my first semester and a total of 60 credit for the 24 month course with a field practicum which last 16 hours a week. Part of my courses would be GENERALIST SOCIAL WORK PRACTISE, SOCIAL WELFARE & URBAN ECONOMICS, and RESEARCH AND URBAN SOCIAL PROBLEMS..
Vo: Why did you choose this school?
Me: the Cost of Attendance is quite affordable compare to other schools. And also the school offers graduate internship within the two years of study.it has a strong collaboration with various industries which I think would help harness the skills and knowledge to transform what is thought in class to practical use.
Vo: what will this course do for you?
Me: this degree would equip me with the skills and knowledge i need to be a successful social worker..it would prepare for a better position In NGOs I've volunteered for and government agencies upon my return to Nigeria.
Vo: what's your plan after graduation/ what's this degree do for you?
Me: As I've said earlier, upon the completion of my course, in intend returning to nigeria to work with gov/ private institutions to improve or ameliorate the well-being of vulnerable Nigerians, then later start my own NGO which will focus children with specific health challenges such as children with hoes on the heart and many more.
Vo: who would be sponsoring your program?
Me:y Aunt will be sponsoring my Cost of Attendance while myself and my dad would be handling the Living Expenses.
Vo: what doest your Aunt do?
Me: she's a nurse in the Uk.
Vo: Are you married?
Me: not yet but I've a fiancee who works as a nurse in a govt. General hospital.
Vi: have you travelled before?
Me: No
Vo: where do you work/ what do you do?
Me: I currently work in a bank but uses my weekends and leave for my volunteering work..
Vo: so why the change of career?
Me: I have never wanted to be a banker but I had to pick it up as the job offer came as an opportunity..so I decided to take it and save-up to prepare myself for my career goal and objectives in social work.

I think that NGO angle is the best strategy to compel the V.O. Since you are a banker and going for masters in social work.

Is the NGO you volunteering for a prominent one? Better for you if it’s an international NGO. Mentioning their name and having a letter from them could help convince the V.O.

Has anyone been placed on Administrative processing? How long did it take?

People, I went for my interview on 7th of July (Fully funded offer, PhD Biotechnology) everything was going fine until the VO asked if I have travelled out of Nigeria before. I answered that I have gone to Russia for MSc in Biotechnology.

The VO went away for like 20mins and she came back and told me that she was checking about my course. After another five minutes she hand me the 221g form for Administrative processing that they need more time to research about my course in Russia (It happens that Biotechnology and some other STEM courses are on the technology Alert list).

Who has been in this situation and how did you solve it?

How did the administrative review go? Did they issue a visa?

I really want guru who are in united state to help me with this information please. A friend of mine who is doing his master's in Canada finds it tough to pay his tuition fees, accommodation and other living expenses, even with his part time job. And his tuition fees is 14k CAD.

However, this 40k, 50k USD fees even after tuition fees waiver, some total tuition fees still remains 25k usd. am really curious about how would one pay the tuition fees, when we all sincerely know that 60% of people traveling are sponsoring themselves.

Good evening fairweather... I sent you a message on your mail ...kindly reach out to me boss

Need your advice bro

fairheart:

3 people in my group shared your post with me. You are not a nice person bro, and it is people like you that turn soft people to cold one. When you contacted me, I remember giving you quality time to discuss your case. I didn't even tell you to pay me until you ask me if I can help you. I clearly told you I was busy as I have personal works I needed to attend to and you need me to come on board to better prepare you for the next interview, you'd pay. I remember sighting 3 examples of Nigerians that were refused in Turkey and was told to come to Nigeria for their visas and they got it upon applying in Nigeria. They are on this thread. When I advised, I picked from experience of other applicants. I never said you cannot get your visa with your wife. I said you may need to drop her and apply first then she can join later. There's nothing in my chat with you that was negative or that said you cannot get your visa with your wife. So, why are you posting these about me? I remember telling you you can try and see how it goes. I have never told anyone they can't get their visas. I have been refused several times too, so what are you saying? You're an adult and should do things truthfully. You simply wanted to join the league of bitter Nairalanders.

I charged you 50K because that is how I test the type of people that come to my DM. A lot of people come to my DM for assistance, and I have had to assist majority without kobo. When I feel like placing a price tag on my time, those who genuinely value my time open up; those who have paid.

Not giving up worked for you; Congratulations.

Congratulations on your ER approval. Please, I'm trying to check if this approval thing is based on resumption date or the time of application. Is 16th your earliest admission date or program start date? (If your earliest admission date is 16th, then your start date should be in Sept, right?)

I applied for ER at Abuja on July 15th too(though, very late into the night) and I'm yet to get any response...(My start date is in September though)...

#Cheers
i dont know but it could actually be. Just be hopeful, my resumption is 16th, so they may respond to you on Monday

Any consequence for attending the interview after your schools program date?

Is there anything to be done or documents to go with to compel the VO to approve?

My opinion,
1. Do away with telling the VO you chose the school because the COA is affordable, place emphasis on other academic reasons.

2. You might want to reword your reasons for working in a Bank, (this is one of your major home ties), don't torpedo it by saying you never wanted to be a banker, find a way to link it with your volunteering work and your proposed course of study.

cheers.

Even if the Visa is approved, you might still have to explain to the Customs and Border Protection officer at the Port of entry why you are resuming after your start date.

Advice: Get your school to grant you an extension to resume at a later date after your interview and issue you a new I-20 to that effect.

The school was strongly recommended by one of my prof that I've worked with..can I say that to replace the first reason for choosing the school.?

Secondly, please how can I link working in the bank with social work.

Yes, the Prof recommending the school works, you can mention his/her name to add spice.

Concerning linking your Bank job with Social work, If it doesn't relate, you'd have to place major emphasis on your volunteering work.
You can say you started volunteering because your long term goal is to be a social worker and that the course you are going for would actualize that goal.

In my own opinion, you should link your current job (banking) to Social work as that is your strongest home tie, shows you have a job to come back to. Most banks have women banking team that have products that cut across maternal health, Family health, IVF (I don’t know your bank, so don’t know how your own women banking works) but let that be where you work and link it together. You can show more passion by mentioning NGO’s you volunteer for but let your main story be about your job and how this degree will advance you.
My humble 2cents.

It looks like you are looking for advice so as to advise someone. US schools are actually expensive. Most people look for scholarships. To begin with applying to schools in the US it is better to look at standardized tests such as GRE and TOEFL prepare well for them and ace them. They can also help the person to get scholarships.

'Your case has been updated, please log back into your account to view the details'

I was expecting a response that says 'your request is approved'.
