This is like treating the symptoms and neglecting the root cause of the problem. Go into the bushes and flush out the bandits and kill them. Is that too much for an army that claims professionalism to do? In the South they are effective but in the North they become incapacitated. Buhari is shielding terrorists in the North.

This evokes contradictory emotions. Mixed feelings of sadness, yet hope.

On one hand, it is sad that our Nigeria has degenerated to a terrorist hotbed where children cannot do something as routine and basic as going to school to become literate, receive education, and become useful members of society....without needing military escort. The sheer needlessness of it. The sheer unsustainable nature of it, makes one sad.

Yet on the bright side, the optics of the narrative suggests brash defiance, which evokes great hope. The resolute defiance that suggests that we must not give in to the primitive and dark forces of terror. If children stay at home and are unable to go to school because they fear the terrorists, then the terrorists have won. That is unacceptable, hence the beauty underlying this seeming defiance - that even if it means deploying the military to escort children to school, then it must be done.
