When the Nigerian public is always quick to condemn and call us quack doctors, you people didn't realise that there's a place our services are needed and valued.

My cousin who is a medical doctor is working seriously hard to travel out.

He has done series of exams and will soon get his big break.

The only thing he dreams about now is the United kingdom.

Nothing in Nigeria interests him anymore, not even the patients.

See ignorance.
I dey laugh. Nigeria suffering from negative immigration and professionals like doctors are mostly affected. Getting clinical lecturers in new medical schools is now very difficult.
Leave the idiot make he dey misyarn. Wen I was leaving the hospital I worked in PH as the only medical officer, it took over 6weeks to find someone to replace me.
Everyone kept saying they are not available cos all man is preparing for PLAB

What can you do? You want to miss clients?

I won't miss any clients, infact, I will gain their patronage with soft skills. Let me just share a secret with you on the condition that you won't tell anyone. When they come to UK for checkup, nothing is actually wrong with them medically but because they know the monster they created in the health sector in the country, they will take the next available flight to UK even with a minor headache caused by their irresponsible lifestyle.

Anyway, I told you not ask me what. So I won't finish the story.

Did they sign any deal with the government for life that they would serve an unserious government for no tangible incentive.

I see that you don't have knowledge of the pay doctors get in UK that is why u are say that what stops them from making money in Nigeria. How much Nigeria they pay them? Compare it to the pay our politicians earn

Bro it's not about the pay, it's about their mindset..

Yes, they owe the government some service cuz Nigeria medical fee is the least in the world...how much do they pay..?

Now com to thing about the pay, if u be in the UK, you begin to cut your hair with over 5k weekly, pay over 2miion on rent monthly, pay about 1k for transportation everyday...feed with over 5k daily...

You didn't consider that..if you truly want to earn more money venture into medical enterprises....that way u give values to Nigerians ND still be rich..

The day I went to one teaching hospital, see crowd that was being attended to by few young doctors.

To see a consultant there sef na war. I had to abandon my file there and find a private hospital.

If this continues, then we are going to wake up one day and find out that our doctors have all left.

We got 3 docs in the family, 2 have relocated the last is at the Nigerian border about to leave. Bad news is the brain drain is not limited to docs alone, good minds are exiting this country on a daily

Bro,last month I took my baby to he hospital and the doctor who attended to me was spilling unbelievable things without me asking that most of his colleagues has left or preparing to leave, that he also is leaving in the next 2mths,that he can't keep collecting 200k as salary when he can make up to $10,000 monthly outside Nigeria. If after going through medical school with all the stress involved and all a medical doc can collect as salary is 200k,it doesn't worth it,I even heard some receive way less than that as salary.

I understand those complains, but me ND you know that no course in school is easy..so he shouldn't single himself out to lament stress, again two hundred thousand as salary in Naija is not anything close to suicide,

Yes, he has a right to aim higher, but he doesn't know he could get richer here by being more adventurous...no salary man in the world is a billionaire today, a young pharmacist guy I know has made his five 3milliin in just over two years work working with a firm...he saved up, went ND opened a small pharmacy outlet around another part of town, ND put a nurse there..now his own firm gives him.kore money than where he works, they pay him 150k dou. He now plans to resign by December ND concentrate better..

He is mentally very weak doc. Cuz he doesn't explore

U funny Sha, each medic sch u see are already orienting their student on the process of leaving d country, many in year 5 are getting usmle/plab books ..

Beside to get good medical attention, u LL need a consultant, do u know what it takes to be a consultant?? That LL b someone who is ready to stay back, be a resident (who are on strike) , study for minimum of 6years, these resident are even the ones writing usmle and orienting the new graduate to find their way out..

The thing is their is a collapse in the health bridge already..

With these numbers, and from other developing countries to the UK, doctors would end up receiving peanut with heavy taxation. Then the reverse movement, where Nigerian doctors would come back home and accept whatever the government can afford. What am seeing today is unpatriotic Nigerians who forgot that the Nigerian govt subsidized theirs fees which made them to be doctors in the first instance. Is not only doctors that spent 6years in the University. If your strike is on health care facilities,I would see patriotism but where you emphasized allowances and salaries, then public doctors are unpatriotic except those in the military.

Get relatively cheap education in Nigeria and then run away.
Why didn't they go to school overseas?

Now your question should be, are the doctors left do they have experience or can they handle the many patients alone

Good question there. But Another thing I know is that not all doctors will pass that exams.

Don't be silly. When your best is being taken by other countries, it is not a good sign. This is the same thing that is happening in our Universities. Most young lecturers are leaving each day, the reason you now find Nigerian lecturers in most Universities in the world.
Quite disturbing...Education and Health Sector and Security and Food security and general economy have all deteriorated in Nigeria.

We are only independent on paper.

In every aspect where it really matters we are still very much a colony. Our best brains work for the US and UK. We owe the west and China billions of dollars. They have lieu on our resources.

We might as well just opt for full recolonization. I can't see how being a British colony for the next 100 years can be worse than what we have now.
