My wife do call me "Dear" and I reply with same. One day, my 2 year old boy was playing outside and misses home. Some men begin to interrogate him by asking his father and mother's name. The boy keeps saying "the name of my daddy is Dear and the name of my mum is Dear. Thank God for someone who knows him and came to his rescue.
Since then, I temporarily ask the mother to call me by my name.
