In this thread I will highlight Major and Minor projects that will power the development and modernization of Igboland.

The goal of this thread is to keep track of various developmental initiatives in the planning stages, ongoing or completed.

The progress of each project will be updated on this thread as more information about them comes out.

It is imperative that Ndiigbo both at home and in the diaspora are aware of these developmental projects so that they can key into them.

Knowledge is power.

Soul City Obosi

The $3.4 billion Soul City project sitting on 50 hectares of land in Obosi, Anambra State, is expected to generate over 50, 000 direct and indirect jobs, the President of Soul City project, Nnamdi St. Michael Nwokoye has said.
He gave this hint at the weekend when he led a delegation to the corporate headquarters of Vintage Press Limited, publishers of The Nation newspaper titles.
According to him, the project is aimed at bringing African-American brothers back home to also invest and integrate with Nigerians and other Africans alike.
“The city would be a podium for business. Business is the primary objective of this project. There would be an amusement park, for recreational activities, industrial layout for industrialists and MSMEs. We intend building hotels, hospitals, big time schools, mini zoo, and residential areas that can accommodate workers and others that intend to live in the city,” Nwokoye noted.
Pressed further, he said the edifice when completed would be a world class tourist attraction that would host over one million visitors every year. “We mapped out a place for industries, we have a place for hospitality industry, and we have a place for residential. It will attract every aspect of business into the country. On completion, it would be generating over 50,000 direct and indirect jobs.”
He said the over 50 hectares of land which the city would be built on in the next few years, would be further expanded in the future with more land acquired.
He further explained that the American partners are notable black people living in US, stressing that a Memorandum of Understanding and the modalities of the investment are being fine-tuned.
“We have offered 30 percent of the total worth of the investment to them. This is so because the state government would be given some stakes. We are providing the land, while the Americans, the state government, and other Nigerian investors would be providing the required finances and other technical logistics. Garry Luster, A former Mayor in US for 20 years, businessman, an estate developer and an entrepreneur is one of the investors, though, they are coming as a group into this partnership,” he hinted.

Orient Garden City, Owerri

In no distant time, Imo State will boast of the best, exclusive and the most expensive estate ‘Orient Garden City’ in the South-east part of the country, if not Nigeria.

Orient Garden City will be among the few neighbourhoods in Nigeria that can rival other beautiful neighbourhoods of the world.

The unique estate, which would have a nine-hole golf course within the scheme as well as other recreations, was established to bridge the gap on the need for quality housing scheme within the state.

Orient Garden City was also birthed out of need to provide luxury and secured neighbourhood with world class infrastructures in Owerri to encourage investors to live, work and play within an established scheme in Owerri, which already has huge industrialisation potentials, as the city seats right in the middle of South-east

The last thing we need is abandon project
..
Already
Most of these projects especially the enyimba economic city
I don't think anything is going on there,
After hype of how many years

Only Enugu and sometimes anambra, keeps to there promise when it comes to building new city opening New layout (although owerri is doing super b in estate development)
And meanwhile, the south east is one of the most dense populated Area in West Africa,
so we should all encourage the building of high rise, not all these shallow buildings am seeing here,
Here are my suggestion for South East
Ebonyi state is doing well but I think they governor needs to construct a 8 or 12 lane from abakiliki town to they new city which is under construction,
Abia should open another superhighway (10 lane) let's say from obingwa to umueka, joining the express road leading to owerrinta to decongest ABA,
Ohafia is the third biggest city in Abia, the need dualised roads

Enugu should do more on high rise as most new cities upcoming are mostly duplex,

IMO state is already doing well in terms of expanding owerri but more should be done the akachi stuff should be renovated to improve tourism, and most roads adjoining owerri city should be renovated

Anambra is not doing bad as well, but Nnewi needs dualised roads like mad.

These are my opinion shaa each state too needs a cBD

Very good points. The goal of this thread is to publicize these projects so that we can key into them. Most of these projects are private sector led. Government cannot do it all and when it comes to Nigeria, we have very dysfunctional government. These projects are not abandoned. They are just slow in progress. Most of the reasons why some of them are slow is because of funding and poor governance.

Yes I believe you
Most of them are very slow,
But I think government should always do a background check of the private company before entering pop
Also big names and companies like innoson, emeka offor, eze Arthur, air peace boss and co
Should enter this ppp of a thing, not some upcoming private company
The slowness in most of these projects is heart breaking
Check out the enyimba mall that has been in construction for how many years now, the worst part is that is above 70% construction since December 2019 yet up till now the Never finish.
Enyimba economic city sounds more like an audio project, no update from there website nothing nothing, no block has been layed,
And government should stop giving individual Large project without entering agreement on completion deadline, if possible many other companies should participate in handling of these projects
