This is a school in Nigeria
I camped in bayelsa and I saw the school in which we camped and it was in a very good shape, new structures.
The school close to the hospital I served, gbaranowei had good structures.

You left that one to show the bad part of bayelsa just for tribalism sake or to prove a point or score a cheap 1/10, your cup of tea.
Do you want to show how public schools in the north are or how schools in the great east or educational oriented west are?

Let’s leave that, do you want to show how universities in Nigeria are today? It’s more than a regional problem but leadership and general problem

This is pathetic, grow up.

Lol

So what exactly is ur point u too?

Why should a school in an oil rich region be looking this way? See that student already lying down on the tiles...I am sure in his mind govt should not bother about the chairs again...he’s okay with the tiles hahahahaha

In essence, what op is saying is that a school in an oil rich region equivalent to Dubai..shouldn’t have such dilapidated building as a school. It should be well equipped and I jaw pple should also demand for good governance from their leaders.
One prevalent issue with these oil communities is that so far the community and compound sharing of oil money is getting to them no wahala. The only time u get to hear those small nigerdelta family noise is when shell n co forgets to send community money.

That reminds me of Timi my university roommate...we once asked this Bobo “after school what next?” This guy told us he’s going back to his community to start collecting his own money by Shell n co. And this was not with the daily noise in d room of how d sharing formula was gonna be carried out in his family house monthly.

Lol cheesy

The focus will always be on the oil rich regions and what they’ve been able to achieve with region’s wealth. IMO,Abia,Rivers,Bayelsa,Delta, etc will always be at d centre of criticism before any states. What has these states been able to achieve as oil rich states? Are they better off or worse off?

I can’t exchange words with a nonentity who has devoted his life to take on other peoples problem, brandishing himself as the messiah who has come to save the people, useless buffoon. Face your state of origin and when all of you in your state can afford to send children to school or pay hospital bills then come back.

Re: Look At A School In Oil Rich Bayelsa State[photos] by Nobody: 7:25am On Aug 07, 2021
The truth is, Bayelsa may be an oil producing state but it

1.Does not get enough of its oil revenue from the government, due to the fact that the oil money we have is limited and has to be shared among every state of the federation (there is a reason why people fight for restructuring and resource control)

2.Does not collect enough in taxes from its people and businesses

3.Our education budget for Nigeria is $2 billion. For South Africa, it is over $20 billion.

You make good points.

However, Bayelsa cannot look like Dubai, even if its leaders decide to be hardworking and serious ...because

1.Dubai is part of the UAE...which produces 3million barrels of crude per day...compared to the 2.4 million Nigeria produces on a good day.

2.The UAE las less than 15 million people, expats included. Nigeria has 211 million people....expats exculded.

3.Thus, the UAE Has far more higher income per capita from oil exports compared to Nigeria...even before corruption and looting kicks in for Nigeria.

Unless Bayelsa either

1.Gets 100% resource control over the oil resources in its region OR

2.Diversifies its economy...

it can never ever be like the UAE or dubai.

I am sure the answer is No. Therefore, the fastest and most often the only way to get the authorities to fix it is by making it public - they feel bad like u do now, and if they feel bad, why allow it go on this long? I guess someone has being diverting the resources meant for maintenence, therefore exposing them is the only way for redressing the situation

Let me explain something to you...

Do you know that Abuja is generating lots of funds more than some oil producing states?

Lots of companies situate the head offices in Abuja and that pays hugely....

Abuja is generating money from tax... Abuja on it's it is the federal Capital and there's a budget to meet it's development....

The oil companies that's exploiting in my state which is an oil producing state owns an office in Abuja and pays tax...

You're the one thinking backwardly....

I sighted Abuja who gets special allocation for development of roads and maintenance of all FCT facilities and world bank sponsors and yet the money is looted... Schools that is budgeted for is still in a bad state...

As a state governor, allocation coming to the state is used to pay salaries and salary gulps almost everything from it...

No state is richer than Abuja....

Which 2.4 million barrels per day (mbpd)? We love deceiving ourselves. That was figures from 2 to 3 years ago. Nigeria's oil production in the last one year hovers around 1.4 mbpd.

Production of crude oil including lease condensate
1,372.00 (thousand barrels per day) in April 2021
https://www.google.com/amp/s/knoema.com/atlas/Nigeria/topics/Energy/Oil/Production-of-crude-oil%3fmode=amp

Thats why I cringe when people say "Nigeria get money". I ask how much money Nigeria get? We are one of the poorest nations in the world in terms of per capita income.

The OP is just trying to be mischievous. This class room in fact is a very high quality class room - finished with ceramic tiles, iron windows and doors and roofed with aluminum sheets. Even the ceiling is being done with POP sheets. The classroom is painted. The only problem is that the ceiling is not yet finished and the furniture (desk and chairs) is inadequate to cater for the student population.

Now let him show us a corresponding government school in his state.

Mind you, I am not exonorating the state government of incompetence and maladminstration, I am saying that this is a poor example of such.
