Yours is the most sensible take on the topic. Kudos!
ubee:
That banner shows that just as humans seek God, and strive to live in righteousness, they have an obligation not to be left behind in building up themselves and acquiring life lessons about how to live positively and integrate properly with others in society in an atmosphere of respect.

I am not impressed that the topic points in the direction that a woman is the offender in the marriage.
Why does it always have to be the wife as offender? Even the church leaders or their youth are not immune to embracing the culture of sexism and prejudice against women.

Meanwhile we are still being weighed down under the cloak of acute mental slavery and inferiority complex in this Nigeria o! Why is the picture of a white couple, and not a black couple?
In a nation with the highest population of blacks on planet earth, and to communicate to the public through a picture, they download a white couple instead of black from the internet?

Very shameful.

You got it all wrong!
You had the platform to talk about the sexist topic painting women as the only offender in marriage. You could have questioned why the picture of whites were used for a program that will be held in Portharcourt, Nigeria. But you chose to criticize, using money (of all things)as your locus?
To think that you profess yourself as a writer, I'm very disappointed!
But then, maybe it's just for the likes.

I saw this on one status on my WhatsApp. I giggled. This is the height of phariseeship. The hunger to defraud unsuspecting persons using the name of God has become dominant.

Nowadays, you can see fifteen different churches in one storey building shouting differently.

Little wonders one church sacked her pastors for not generating taxes..sorry, I mean tithes.

We are so religious in this country yet very vile, and underdeveloped. Everyday, we yell “god forbids” even to things he never forbade..to prove our being overly righteous.. We command “back to sender” when we are also evil.

Or we come here on Nairaland to see “amens” to our promotional scripture quotes for mere likes and shares.... or seek congregants to “pray for” so that our bank account can smile...even when we know Jesus taught us to pray already.

We tell our congregants that givers never lack..when we are the receivers but when they need help, they can go to God.

We tell them to bring their first fruits of their harvest. Yes, we fry the chicken with the kitchen glories, and send part of the tithes to our children in school while the widower drinks his garri in tom-foolery waiting for the appointed time.

We have left the main course Jesus came on earth and digressed to the latest trends to extorting tithes and offerings from our members by throwing crusades every now and then. What's now the difference between the church and hip-pop artistes?

What's this. The poster wanted us to talk about the relevance or otherwise of the caption of the program and you came here spewing your hatred for the church.

You is forcing you to be a Christian? If the churches and their leaders are bad set up one and show them the proper way. Mtcheeee

That's not Christianity, bro. It's a moneymaking business.

I used to rate you an intelligent fellow. But this whole essay of yours shows how slow you are at thinking critically.

For a start the program is an interactive session for people experiencing difficulties in marriage. Your hatred for church growth, as if they were responsible for the poor state of your country and self, hastened you to spew rubbish just for empty 'likes and shares' from fellow dark minds like you.
Another reason you wrote this rubbish is because the theme is captioned in pure pidgin, a Nigerian version of English that everyone across the board understands fully well. Inferiority complex personified!

For GOD sake the theme is a vivid picture of how most people lament in marriages. They used this theme so they can easily reach all classes of people who are finding it very difficult to cope with their partners in marriage.

The church leadership who came up with this caption is culturally aware of its environment. I doubt you live in Port Harcourt. The word 'chei' is a popular exclamation there. People usually use it to express shock, unexpected loss or disappointment. Did you know this? This shows that the church in question knows its environment.

But look at you, you couldn't look twice to fully grasp the purpose of a relationship-healing program like this one. Boom! You vomited stinking venom all over the place.

I am truly sorry for you.

You are just angry because it has to do with your church or one you cherish.

I was expecting you to show me where I was wrong, leaving being overly religious aside.

Is church not business nowadays?

For your misinformation, I totally understood the pidgin language very well, and yes, I have stayed in Port Harcourt.

Have you stayed in other places and seen other banners and their promotional signatures?

I highly am against unbiblical extortions, and that's what most of your churches do to overly righteous free givers.

Have a nice century.
