Sometime last year, my wife (on a driving tutorial and after saying I am making her nervous with my incessant interference - and me sef kukuma shut up as she don dey vex say I dey shout on top am) knocked off a parked car's side mirror. The owner was standing there gisting with someone. I was at the passenger seat - Immediately I jumped out and enthusiastically apologized to the man, bow sef. My woman sef jump come down dey apologise.

The man that had started to rake just went quiet and calmly said, "It's OK". Imagine we didn't do that and were claiming he didn't park well. Wahala.

After work yesterday , as I walked towards my car to to start heading home .
Alas ! It was exasperating and annoying to find my broken side mirror on my bonnet , After it was completely knocked off its hook .
As I was still finding the best way to express my anger , behold I found a letter on my windscreen from the offender .

Woow ! My anger vanished immediately, Do we still have people like this in this country? especially here in Lagos ? Such civil and responsible act is so rare and it worth emulation .

I had no option than to decline any form of offer from him, as he has shown i]extreme courtesy .

I often encounter such people on my way to work, at the supermarket, at my workplace, by the roadside with street traders and more....

The real shock for me is the continuous narrative on Nairaland, that there are no good girls and men OR the narrative that there are very few good men and women left.

I shake my head and wonder, if the good people I've encountered in the course of my life and daily activities are spirits, and not human beings like me.

By the way, you are a good looking bloke. But, why is your photo up there? It is eye candy for my eyes though I am enjoying the view.

This is commendable. I believe that we still lots of good people in this country and I also believe that we have more than enough bad leaders in this country.
God go punish all evil leaders in this country both politically and no politically, Amen!

Dude I will be the first to say it's a good deed and Noble thing for me he person to do.

Secondly, my other comment based on the Nigeria I know is this may be a set up... Nigerians get a sense of dark and warped up thinking that makes me think someone is setting up a trap for you... You can interpret it anyway you want but let it go and move on by fixing the your car yourself.

On the other hand have someone else reach out and sort things out on your behalf if you desperately need it fixed ... Forgive me when I say I don't trust me fellow Nigerians.

I remember a scene that happened almost 25 years back. I was riding with an uncle to Onne when a car trying to overtake us knocked off our side mirror. My uncle simply came down and ordered the arrest of the erring driver. While we were at it huge traffic had built up as the road was entirely blocked by my uncle and the other driver. He strategically left it so to build evidence against the other driver.


Drivers, passengers and passersby kept begging my uncle but he remained adamant. Of course, he was very furious seeing his 505 evolution dented. While we were at it, someone step out of his car with a cheque book in his hand and approached my uncle with: "Oga, since you've refused to listen to pleas, how much do I write on the cheque the corresponding value of your car so that you can get off the road I have an appointment to meet at Onne?.

My uncle shamefully jumped into his car and we zoomed off. He later told me he was humbled as his anger immediately dissipated.

. This very incident humbles me to date.
