With your OPT you can work anywhere that doesn't require security clearance. However, it's a smart idea to look for companies that understand the immigration processes for H1B and employment-based greencards. The national interest waiver is another process you can research. Finally, the easiest path is to genuinely marry a U.S. citizen.

How about seeking asy...?

@Drella, it was an Msc in Industrial Engineering. It was the Best Decision I made in 2016 - planned, implemented, and left in July 2017.
You too can do it if you are thinking about it.

With projections to be scheduled for an immigration interview earliest December 2021, as I saw the card with a 2031 expiry date, water full my eyes cry but as a strong man, I refuse to cry cheesy. I just said "Oluwa bu Eze!" cos I cannot explain how I was approved in 6 months instead of 18 to 24.5 months as I projected.

Glad I am not where I was a year ago, making progress and you can too (no use the money build fish pond grin, come yankee come discover your full potential).

Congrats Mackynaija, wishing you more greater heights. 2017 seems like yesterday when you drove from PH to Lag to begin this journey. What can I say? You're an inspiration, how I wish my stubborn friend listen to me

Seattle isn't cheap per say. The presence of tech companies there also increased the cost of living to an extent

@Mackynaija and all other elders in the house, I extend my special greetings for this invaluable thread. I have two questions please:

1)From my little research, it seems to me that a PhD in Economics is considered a STEM course in the US. If I follow this pathway, what are my chances of getting a post study permanent residence permit?

2) I want to go through the PhD pathway because it seems that it has more and better funding opportunities. Do I stand a chance to get admitted with the following profile:

GRE score: 308
BSc GPA based on WES evaluation: 3.7/4
IELTS overall band: 7.5

Thanks all.

Were you able to gain admission this year? You seem to have a strong profile however how did you do on the quantitative? Most schools in my days required at least 163 in QA. You could pick some safety schools alongside good schools to increase your chances.

As I said before, my resume was patterned to fit into roles as a manufacturing, process and industrial engineer... No love for Quality.

I still applied for roles in all.
At the interview, I was discharging answers in the line of control plan, Guage RnR, Cpk, Ppk, SQL etc etc..
The manager just deh look me.. cheesy See this one...

That's not what you'll be doing here - he said.
I was confused then but now I understand.

Tuck in every morning, go to the office, press my keyboard, caress n romance the customers, ensure compliance documentation are in order and processes are compliant, do customer facility walk-through, do supplier facility audits etc etc..

After all this, my shirt remains tucked in... No Sweat.. grin

For the same salary as our process n manufacturing engineers? I cannot cough...

Make Una follow me thank Oluwa for delivering me from manual labor engineer and turning me to a keyboard pressing engineer. cheesy

My plans have changed - I Aspire to remain part of the decision making team. You should too.

All my former managers, forgive me for the hate, sorry dislike I had for you all. cheesy

Very interesting. What branch of Engineering is that? I guess it's Engineering Manager or Project Engineer?

Office based positions. That makes me a laptop pressing Engineer too, but money no dey like field roles Sha. Coffee and muffin in the morning, then better lunch at noon, then come back and fight sleep till close of work grin. Best thing, home every night.

The HR is right Sha. Lost two colleagues so far to silicon valley this year. The moment they got their Canadian citizenship, they just japa to San Francisco to take up new roles at Intel and Eaton respectively. cheesy

This laptop pressing Engineering, is it a new branch of engineering or something? Just joking grin .

But what's the job title/role of this lap top pressing Engineering branch per se? Just curious!
