The police said on Wednesday that Mohammed was arrested on Tuesday, following an intelligence report that “young Fulani boys were sighted” in the area wielding the rifle.

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a herdsman, who identified himself simply as Mohammed, in the Imeko Afon Local Government Area of the state, lurking in the forest with AK-47 rifle.

The police said on Wednesday that Mohammed was arrested on Tuesday, following an intelligence report that “young Fulani boys were sighted” in the area wielding the rifle.

Upon the information, the police detectives stormed the scene and found Mohammed hiding in the bush and reputedly planning a kidnap operation.

In a release, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said, “The operatives of the Ogun State Police command on Tuesday apprehended a herdsman who simply identified himself as Mohammed, with one AK-47 rifle.

“The suspect was arrested following information received by the Imeko divisional headquarters, that two young Fulani boys were sighted at the Christ Apostolic Church, Oha forest, Iwoye Ketu in the Imeko Afon LGA an AK-47 rifle.

“On receiving the information, the Divisional Police Officer mobilised his men, other stakeholders like the hunters, vigilantes and stormed the said forest. After hours of combing the forest, one Mohammed was seen hiding in the bush with one AK-47 rifle and he was arrested.

“The arrested armed boy is strongly suspected to be member of kidnap syndicates who have been terrorising the area for quite some time now. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect.”

Does Sahara Reporter have a picture or video to back up this story or we just have to take it like that based on their "credibility."[/quote] When the news first broke out about the Nigerian army shooting directly at innocent and unarmed civilians at the Lekki Toll Gate, the Nigerian army denied their men were there, even with video evidence.

The Nigerian army on Twitter said is a fake news.

The reason am saying all this is that, if is a fake news or not, the Nigerian army would have come out to deny it.

The president gave a kill on sight order to anyone seen with an AK, it is unconstitutional but a little bit of craziness is needed in this country. I don't understand why the police is still arresting when they would have done far worse for people with petty crimes.

Where minimum force can be used effectively, it should always be encouraged
If they shot and killed him, that's the end of the story.... But with this smart move, they could extract worth while information from him

No not exactly... Egypt is a globally recognized force in terms of how equipped its armed forces is. Egypt has helicopter carriers and landing ships that will make even super powers jealous. So if Egypt received second hand ships and you that only have canoes and small generator powered roller boats received second hand ship its much different.

The US has changed your entire naval capacity by giving you an ocean going vehicle bringing you a little bit closer to the status of a blue navy. While Egypt has always had a blue navy due to its need to defends its interest in the Mediterranean and around the Suez.

We have our own "blue" interests here in the gulf of Guinea but how well are they secured. What is the pirate situation in the gulf?
If I get you well, you mean Egypt can receive it, while it's an insult to us.

Eygpt receives billions in military aid. That's why they can keep their military at that standard. They don't earn more money than Nigeria. You know Egypt faces bigger threats than Nigeria too.

There is a Sahara reporter article on front page about the three Israeli citizens arrested by DSS in connection with IPOB and I can't but wonder how stupid Sahara reporters and those guys think Nigerians are.
Even the police force will not make the mistake of locking you in a cell without removing every objects that can be used to cause harm especially metals yet these guys managed to have scissors with them in a room with two dangerous terrorist that have been detained since 2014.
The American, French and Israeli embassy got to know about their detention almost immediately yet the DSS still managed to detain them for 20 days.
The embassies couldn't even get lawyers for them.

They were pushed into the van that took them to Abuja but upon getting to the DSS HQ, the personnels there were scared to touch them when they refused to enter the cell grin

I watched the documentary. One of the guy actually claimed he had a knife to defend himself against the Abuja bombing suspect who was in the same cell as them. I don't think he is lying.

Well this tells us that, the best defense against extremist group is a well trained equipped and motivated national army, not some foriegn help or mercenaries...
Now there help is gone and they cat even hold a fort.
Nigeria should learn from this and never allow foriegn help in our battles

A total withdraw of America troops was a bad idea, the Afghan military can't stand on their own without America air support and even the Afghan military pilots are been assassinated.
Taliban are now moving with Humvees

COAS REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO REPOSITION NIGERIAN ARMY FOR EFFICIENT OPERATIONS

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, has said that despite contemporary security challenges, the Nigerian Army under his leadership, is being repositioned to conduct its Operations efficiently.

He said this has become imperative in order to defeat the myriad of adversaries behind threats to internal security of the country.

Lt Gen Yahaya made this known on Wednesday 11 August 2021, during the second Senior Command and Leadership Seminar held at the 1 Division Auditorium, Kaduna.
The seminar targeted incumbent and potential General Officers Commanding (GOC) and Brigade Commanders.

According to the COAS, the Army will be better positioned under the current leadership through effective training and re-training. He stated that training will improve the capacity of the Army to checkmate security challenges currently bedeviling the country.

He assured that mechanisms are already in motion to reinvigorate training and to effectively plan and conduct operations, drawing lessons from previous operations.

He further charged the General Officers Commanding and Brigade Commanders to devise multidimensional, multidisciplinary and multifaceted approaches to defeat all adversaries and challenges. Lt Gen Yahaya urged the senior officers to make the utmost use of the opportunities offered by the seminar.

Addressing participants at the seminar, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Kabiru Mukhtar, noted that the seminar is a clear indication of the premium the Chief of Army Staff places on quality leadership in the Nigerian Army.

He stressed that contemporary threats and operating environment demand innovative leadership and competence from commanders.

He further declared that operations under the Division have yielded remarkable successes leading to a marked decline in security incidents in the Division's Area of Responsibility. He attributed the achievements to the concerted effort of troops of the Division and sister security agencies, under the guidance of the Chief of Army Staff.

Present at the event were General Martin Luther Agwai (Rtd) former Chief of Defence Staff, who delivered the keynote address, Maj Gen Chris Olukolade, former Director Defence Information, Maj Gen Lawrence Ngubane former Chief of Operations, as well as principal staff officers from the Army Headquarters, Corps Commanders, Commanders of military Institutions, formations and other security agencies.

Many might be surrendering without weapons. Some of them ain’t the active fighters and JAS do not have much weaponry as ISWAP. One of the reasons it was so easy to send Shekau to the great beyond.

This is the best time for the military to begin their final offensive.
Their moral is at an all time low, the only thing needed now is the use of devastating force.

Thank God the A29s are here, we should continue hitting them until most of them surrender.
