Some of Biden's key allies in Congress are warning that a complete U.S. withdrawal will thrust Afghanistan further into chaos and violence. Others say keeping U.S. troops on the ground any longer could spark a backlash among progressives – and American voters – who want to see an end to America's longest war.
Biden cancelled so many bad policies of Trump and accepted the policy of troop withdrawal. Biden is at fault

Only a matter of time before Afghan pilots cram family members onto aircraft, and fly them to neighbouring countries.

well, the Taliban running things in Afghanistan was a matter of when not if. As much as I hate it, the Taliban would bring peace and stability to a country that hasn't seen peace since Antiquity, the pros outways the Cons

Some travellers have been shot dead in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Daily Trust gathered that the victims were passing through Jos when they ran into gunmen who opened fire on them.

The whereabouts of some of the victims were unknown as of the time of filing this report while at least 15 corpses have been deposited at a morgue in the state, according to sources.

Muhammad Ibrahim, one of the passengers, who escaped the attack, said they were in a group of five 18 seater buses, returning from Bauchi State where they attended an event to commemorate the Islamic New Year.

He said the event held at Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, mosque, in Bauchi State.

Details later…

I pray that doesn't happen. That'll create a major security and refugee problem. My hope is that the same case that occured in Iraq reoccurs in Afghanistan, i.e. the Afghan Army Kandak Commandos take the fight to the Taliban, same way Iraqi Golden Brigade Special Operations Forces led the fight against ISIS when the main Army almost collapsed. They'll be stretched to the brink, but hopefully they'll be able to motivate other units to fight for their country. The US airpower should equally come to bear in aid of the Afghans, but the later must learn to stand on their own.

This will be exactly the words other countries are going to say if ISAWP should take over Mali or lake Chad.

Hehehe

Peace you say , multiple reports r coming in that Taliban r killing all male members of families and abducting their small daughters / widows / unmarried sisters to be married forcibly to their fighters

Anyways after being brainwashed all these years to fight do you seriously think they will stop fighting ?

Bloodlust and the allure of 72 virgins is something which cannot be turned off as one wishes , have seen it close

They will move to new targets

Yeah...saw a picture of one their suicide bomber captured sometime back...the most interesting thing about the picture is in addition to his suicide vest he also wore a locally fabricated iron pant to protect his priick from shattering so he can successfully use it in the after life....!! grin

scenarios are different in the case, the Taliban has shown that they can come to a political compromise, as shown in the negotiations with the United States and with the local government. no one can stop them now can they? everybody has to adjust to the unfolding realities. As a legitimate government the Taliban can be held to account as they cannot live in economic isolation, Afghanistan is a landlocked country, the Pakistanis would not give overt(or significant covert) support to the Taliban, to the detriment of their relationship with the west.

As much as I would like Afghanistan under the control of the Afgani governent, this as shown in the Taliban's blitzkrieg is unrealistic.

with over $80bn in military aid to the ANA, the Americans have outdone themselves. nobody is going to deploy their troops to occupy Afghanistan forever as history as shown that it's an effort in futility

the Taliban would want legitimacy, that would be a useful tool to keep them in check

The scenarios are very similar: Years ago the Taliban renounced Al-Qaeda woth the goal to become a recognized negotiating partner and opened a Office in Qartar. Which led to the current situation the country is in today. Now ISWAP started rooting out "Boko Haram" because they are too radical. The unfolding reality of global Jihadism is gaining ground.

..Dont you see the big picture?

The Soviets when they left Afghanistan left what was considered by many in the west to be a weak government and they were mocked for it, that government lasted for 3 years.
To say that the US war in Afghanistan has been a failure would be an understatement, to say that the US is fantastically corrupt to have spent 80+ billion on an army that fell in under a month would be even more of an understatement.
What a stupid country, all those lives wasted for no reason.

The inevitability of the Taliban gaining control of Afghanistan was clear to all, just as it was clear that the vietcong was going to triumph in Vietnam. What should've happened was open dialogue with the Taliban to transition the country to them, but the US historically lacks foresight.

I dont think their arms will reach us but Kabul will fall in the next 30 Days to the Taliban and it will be a big win for global Jihadism because Russia, China and Pakistan are willing to recognize their claim to power. Counter insurgency is all about winning the hearts and minds of the people and here we have a prime example what happens if this center piece of the military operation fails.

Arms are coming into here from Eastern Europe, I don't see how it can't get here from Afghanistan.

In Gwoza, Zulum Receives Another Chibok Schoolgirl

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Saturday in Gwoza, received another Chibok Girl who presented herself to the Nigerian Army.

The schoolgirl, Hassana Adamu, alongside her two children, was handed over to Governor Zulum by the Commander, 26 Taskforce Brigade, Brigadier General DR Dantani.

Zulum was in Gwoza from there he moved to Bama, undertaking humanitarian activities. He had just returned from northern Borno where he spent five days for humanitarian interventions.

Hassana was one of over 200 schoolgirls abducted at a Government Secondary School in Chibok on April 14, 2014, by Boko Haram insurgents.

It can be recalled that Ruth Ngladar Pogu and a man said to be her husband had presented themselves to the Nigerian Army on July 28, 2021, at a location in Bama.
