Heard something strange today from someone I carried. Maybe some of us here would have heard about it.

So the rider told me he booked a ride from the airport to his hotel. On arrival, he was informed that the hotel was fully booked so he quickly brought out his phone to call the bolt driver that brought him to take him to another hotel. The hotel receptionists told him that may not be necessary because they have cab guys who hang around the hotel.

They called one for him who uses a Sienna and the guy took him to another hotel.

On arrival, he paid him and went inside the hotel. While he was processing his booking, they heard a loud scream and by the time they rushed out, they found the guy infront of his vehicle pushed against the wall by his vehicle. He died instantly

It appears the guy wanted to open the bonnet to check something and for some strange reasons, the vehicle moved at a speed high enough to kill him.

Now to the strange part. When they opened the vehicle, the gear was on park though the engine was running.

How the vehicle managed to move with so much power as to kill him while the gear was in P remains a mystery.

Haven't you heard of the saying "village people" before? Or is it that you don't believe it??

Mr Cheerful, l'll attend to the bolded.

1. Without you telling me, I knew you drive daily and accumulate a good chunk of driving hours, translating in the earnings you've posted. In fact, I can say that "you know the road and the road knows you". You have knowledge and must have had challenges while on the job. That knowledge is what newbies and even some experienced folks need. They don't know the effort, determination and uncountable sacrifices you've made to get to where you are. We both know there's money in e-hailing but effort and sacrifices must be made to get it. Newbies need to learn this first, then the money follows. The dashboard screenshots is deceptive cos it makes it look like we get the money so easy and we both know this isn't true.

2. It's a good thing that you don't fall sick but what about the car? A car that's driven on a daily basis on this job must undergo routine maintenance. So on the days you do, it would be helpful to update the house too. This doesn't mean we dey monitor you like spirit, no but when this is done, newbies can set a realistic goal for themselves. They know what to expect in the job. Me too fit learn something from you and vice versa.

You're a determined man and that's a good thing.

Reacting to the bolded...

You know I asked one of those who DM for insight of his genotype and he replied with "AA" I just remembered now that I forgot to pass some vital information to why I asked him that and the young man didnt even border to ask why I asked that question, rather was more eager to earn.

Well, ... I'll leave the picture within to do the brainstorming.

From experience genotype goes a long way in this job.

Let the debate begin.

As a newbie, I had no serious challenges except friends. Friends distracted me. Had to cut them off. Then I had to find a way to stop being so sleepy by 10pm, till I realized eating dinner late caused that for me. Dashboard isn't deceptive because it's my dashboard and what's there is my truth. I can't twist my truth to suit what you think the truth should be or twist my truth to make you feel better. It is what it is. I guess I was created special. Divine intelligence.

everything I know I've passed down to the 21 guys in my telegram group. They were the ones that responded when I asked people struggling to mail me. So you can't say I haven't played a part. These guys beat my daily records many times. Some. Not all. None makes below 100k a week now.

Driving is easy for me, uber driving is easier. You don't have to believe me but driving is a hobby and a passion. Been driving since I was 14 in SS1. Over ** years now. No one thought me how to drive. Things I do now are second nature to me.

These are my truths. You don't have to believe them, you can't change them. It's me and I'm it. I really don't have to explain myself to anyone. What I post is for motivational purposes only. People who counter me do so only with mouth. Nothing to show for it. They criticize my methods, but present no better alternatives, neither can they argue logically and with facts, so they resort to being negative to themselves hoping that their negativity will overshadow my positivity. Hasn't worked out for them either

The one that thought fraud was the way, advising how to cancel trips inside surge, how market? Now that surge is gone, Guy is confused as fuck_ grin His fraud strategy is dead in the water.

My car hmm. It amazes you how it doesn't break down, and how it's on the road daily? Simple. I do preventive maintenance. A stick in time prevents downtime. I hate downtime. I once took a defensive driving course online. It helps me not scratch my car either from a fault of mine, or the next driver. I anticipate what the drivers around me are about to do and I protect my car accordingly.

With the body covered, now the mechanical part. A new car makes no sound, so whatever sounds I hear from my own car is foreign and I tend to it as soon as possible. I know every part of a car and I know whatever part that is wrong with my car so I call my mechanic in advance to buy it and anticipate my arrival. On days I visit the mechanic, I start working before 5. By 11 am I'm at his place and I've made half or almost half of my daily target. I leave there after 7 hours with a fixed up car and I have 6 hrs to complete my daily target. I take naps while there so I'm never really tired.

My diet consists of more protein than less. Then water. Plenty water. It lubricates the eyes. My eyes. Sugary drinks makes me tired, so I try to avoid. Water is better. I always try to combine 2 activities together. Eating + car is being washed, napping while car is being washed, napping while car is being fixed, napping while waiting for destination trips, etc. I'm always a happy fellow and I follow the golden rule.

These are some of my truths. It's not conventional but it works for me. Uber is easy for me, and will always be easy. Nothing will change that truth for me... Nothing.

One thing i learnt from CheerfulGiver was that HP is a scam, i was seriously considering HP and, trying to get connect, but i didn’t get a favorable deals, i gave it a serious thought and followed this thread every-time to get more understanding on how possible to earn enough to balance weekly HP payment , Fuel the Car, Fix Car, Take care of my family bills, and have some savings too, as a new bill the odds where just so unreasonable

Right now i had to drop the thought of HP, and start considering how i can get a personal car, truth be told, getting funds for it is even more challenging i guess that’s where patients and perseverance comes in

so i take this time as my learning time, to grasp all the knowledge i can get

thats why most of the time i like it more when the house is not in agreement , that is when we tend to see some salient point from both side.

You all are my Supper Heroes

Felicity0001:

Yeah very true but only true for those drivers who are married and are on either rental or HP. They will definitely need to double the hustle to make 15-20k net daily. That's a whole lot of work and time there bro.

For you to have netted N20,000 it means you must have grossed at least N30,000-33,000.

because commission on N30k is N6k

You'll need 3.5-4.5k fuel on a sound corolla or Honda civic to gross that amount, if you're lucky to have 70% of your trips on surge and long distance trips with less time spent on traffic you can gross 35-37/38k with 4.5k fuel.

Assume all conditions are Constant:

20k net should generate about 29-33k gross after all deductions.

This will require a minimum of 12hrs online.

And not possible during weekdays but possible during weekends especially on Sundays BUT not everyday.

Unless the night life returns then we can have such earnings again.

Need proof? Ask the diabolic one to share his daily earnings with time spent online.

But note: these are many truth people like pearl1910, the diabolic cheerfulgiver, crv and dangote partners dapo and we@uncle gbagada will never tell you but me myself and I will also speak the truth. I am felicity001 aka the hoodlum drivergrin (come e don tey una call me that name ooh, I always roll when you guys call me thatgrin)

Now let the argument begin.

You all are my Supper Heroes

October this yr will make it 2years since I registered as an ehailing driver in Lagos, Nigeria. In these 22months of having an active driver's account on Uber, Bolt and Indriver I have only been active behind the wheel for a combined periods of about 10 months and in these 10months I can say I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly. I won't include mechanics because I've known and understood them long b4 now. I have come across virtually all kinds of human beings from all works life and have studied and seen so many characters more than I used know b4 now. I stepped very low to rentals for so many reasons and I'm very glad I did. In all of these I can only say human beings generally are terrible people, you never can please them.

Now, talking about HP, many will say I'm controversial if I say this, nevertheless, I'll say it without any fear of being attacked.

95% owner partners in both the HP and rental are bad. 85% out of that figure are desperately and naturally wicked while the remaining 10% became wicked due to 95% wicked people/drivers they've had 1 or 2 encounters with b4. So you find yourself doing business with them either as rental or hp? Please play your card very well. If you're bad as a driver and your intention is to perpetrate evil do it b4 you're taken unawaregrin and if you belong to the good drivers league, be yourself and keep being you even if your expectations get cutting short. A day of judgment and reward will definitely come.

HP with individuals is not supposed to exceed 3% interest of total cost of asset+registration, insurrance, etc... all under 18/24months. With full refundable or some per centage (%) refundable security deposit of 10%.

Take for an instance:
Asset :N2,000 000
Registration :N58, 000
Insurance :N120, 000
Minor repairs/Servicing :N100, 000
Miscellaneous :N*****
Sum total :N2,300,000

Now, Partners interest should be:
2,300,000*3.0%*18months = N1,242,000.

Total package would be :N3,542,000
We can round it up for N3,500,000

Now, 10% of 3.5m is N350,000. This money should not be subtracted from to the total amount to be paid because it's a security in. the situation whereby default is made you subtract accordingly to fill up the gap... But if no default made throughout the tenure of the contract then the amount can either be use to offset the balance or be refunded at the end of the contract tenure to so driver can have some money to fix up his car if need be.

Accidents, unforseen national lengthy holidays, protest, riots or lockdown are restituted accordingly with all stated in black and blue.

Since owner is a single entitle and not an enterprise or a registered business he must consider when driver is down to ill health related issues reason, the round down to N3.5m. this cost will cover for driver's health all through the contract tenure so he can be fit to reduce down time.

Looking at the above you'd noticed weekly remittance is pegged around 40k and can go higher depending on the period or lower if the asset cost is lower. All of these can be compromised if the owner partner is satisfied with the interest.

Most micro-credit facilities do way less than the above analysis but our self acclaimed ogas who works or had worked in financial institutions currently and b4 won't come out to say it because they have the mentality of a slave master but when it comes to how much a driver should pay weekly or pay on HP you'll see them jogging and bouncing out like a coach with 10lives. That's one way to identify the 85% wicked once.

Know these things and stand tall so you won't be cheated during negotiations. There's nothing like anyone doing one a favour or drivers didn't bring anything to the negotiation table.

Everybody on the table has something good to offer.

The deal i got was from a micro-credit facility, they asked i go look for a car and negotiate with seller, so they can do the necessary calculations on the weekly payment

After giving it a serious thought, and taking into consideration, the discussion from this thread, i went back to them and ask they do an estimated calculation using 2,800,000 million naira, assuming that will be the cost of the car i will be getting

if total cost of car was 2.8M,, their interest rate in respective of the cost of your car was 2.5% and the duration was 18 or 20 months tenure- So total repayment will be 4,060,000 Million, interest and Capital combine for 18 months

i will make a deposit of 363k, this deposit is not refundable

below is the break down of the 363k as follows

Insurance- 140k (this insurance is only valid to the company incase of accident with the vehicle beyond repair, so they can protect their investment, so the insurance doesn’t cover me, i will have to get mine ( so why make me pay for this?)

Admi Fee - 4k plus

Tracker- 20k ( the company will be the one to get the person that will fix it)

License plate- 35k ( at the end of repayment the plate number is mine, i will just go for change of name, since they will be registering the car in the company’s name)

Upfront Payment- 70k, this money will be use as payment towards the capital, but it was not subtracted from the total yet

VAT- 94k, i will have to pay VAT too

I felt why pay a deposit that is not refundable or subtracted from the total

The 363k is not a fixed amount, it is dependent on the cost of your car, let’s say you got a car for 2.4M probably the deposit will be less than 363k

The repayment window was 18 months i.e 72 weeks 4x18=72 weekly payment 4,060,000/72weeks= 56k per week

but the company was silent on some issues like, there are some months that end in 5 weeks but they use 4 weeks on their calculations so what happens if a certain month ends in 5 weeks am i still made to make repayment on the 5th week, since the contract is weekly payment

you see i may end up paying more if the details are not well spelt out

i was not in a hurry to get a car, i wanted to know the entire details of what to expect

Last month coming to this month financial pressure was high on me, i was almost desperate getting the car by all means

that was when i kept seeing CheerfulGiver comments on how HP is a scam, he did a calculations on why rental was far better than HP

Now coming from a Newbie in driving (i don’t currently drive, the little time i did i learnt it from youtube, drove few times some yeas back)

been a novice ( even planing registering for a driving school) and taking car on HP, i will have to drive on a commercial basis, and be remitting 56k weekly, at least from this thread i understand that one can spend between 30-45k on fuel weekly 56k+30k=86k

on HP, car maintenance will be on me, within this 18 months i will still have to pay my house rent, house feeding money, bills, health

putting all this into consideration i had to pull out from the HP deal for now

if i had been a professional driver before now i wouldn’t have turn this deal down, but for a newbie like me i felt the stake was too high

in-fact police that don’t want to use eye to see young men driving flashy cars in Benin. lets not even go there

Felicity0001:

Possible scenario would be: He’s parked at a slope, didn’t engage handbrake or it’s faulty, gear is in park but too much pressure is been exerted on the gear parking prowl. So let’s say the parking prowl snapped due to the vehicle weight resting on it. Automatically there’s no restraint, vehicle moved and knocked him out.

Never knew this was possible. Myself and my handbrake are now best of friends.

If you've followed me closely you'd observed I'm that peaceful sleeping python who doesn't like to be disturb, step on my tail? You'd regret waking me up.

I hope they listen to your plead because I won't rest until I swallow all of my enemiesgrin

Thumbs up.
I've observed that Most points you make are actually factual and valid. But you need to understand that it's not everyone here that's insightful or will adopt your views. For example, I was surprised that some folks don't know that driving for long periods of time regularly is dangerous to health when you mentioned it but it's the truth. So, whether they accept or not is none of your business.

I also observed that there were complaints in regards to your customer service skills. Bro, there's no need to be aggressive with a rider. If you feel that you were in the right and a rider disrespected you and tries to paint you in a bad light, you simply tell that rider alight. No insults, no 1 star rating, no nothing. Ignore and move on. Your knowledge of this job and that of Mr Cheerful giver is legendary. You guys should stop making a mockery about this acquired knowledge and find ways to agree. Na only women dey behave like this.

Respect.

HP is easier to pay than to collect loan.
Go to a bank and ask for loan of 2.7m and hear the conditions they will give u.
This microfinance didn't even bill u sef. Most of the nonrefundable expenses are invested on the car which will be urs anyway. Would u prefer they do all that and add it to the HP amount? No, because the payback will be inflated.
You are right on all responsibilities being on u. Guys on HP are the ones who should work d hardest.
I think the problem is first the cost of the car, then second your location. It has been said, the cheaper ur capital, d better for u. So don't go for a car that is that expensive because it will only increase ur burden.
Secondly, how much does an average Bolt driver make in Benin? That will guide u to determine the max u can pay weekly.

On HP u spend more to acquire the car, that's because it's not cash and carry.
Not everybody has d discipline to save money or the drive to go out everyday to make d money. so if u do rentals with the hope of saving money to buy your own car, it's 50/50.
Some weeks it's only rentals money that u may have gathered. On the other hand, if u comit urself to a fairly cheap car u will be forced to pay every week and before u know it u have a car.

On rentals owner can call u anytime and speak English, before u know it they have collected the car and given to a friend or family, meanwhile u have responsibilities and things planned out. That can't happen if u r on HP.

Prices of everything is going up, when u start your rentals with the aim of 1m to buy a car, before u know it, that ur target car will be 1.3m in a short time. But ur HP price is fixed.

Look, they both have their advantages and disadvantages so if this is what u want to do, get the ball rolling, time waits for no one.
Nothing good comes easy. Have that at the back of ur mind.
