The ground floor is at the leveling stage and the next stage for me now is decking. I have asked my Engineer to give me an idea of the number of iron rods needed for the decking and staircase, he gave me the following quotation;
1) Y16: 60 lenghts
2) Y12: 350 lenghts
3) Y8: 120 lenghts

He said the above rods will also be used for the lintel. I have asked him to give me just for the decking and he is saying it is not possible.

Esteemed building experts, kindly give me an idea of the number of rods i will need for the decking and staircase of this building.

I don’t have much of the backside pics now but there’s really not much difference between the front and the backside.

The difference is just the design in the lower part. We ensure the back plate is well laid and welded to hide the imperfections along the seam lines.

Good morning everyone. This was what happened.

When she made contact, I asked her if she wanted a commercial door or personalized door and she chose the later. I showed her samples and she made a choice. When I told her the price, she called me on phone to negotiate and I explained in details what materials I will work with and I specifically mentioned plain pan.

She was part of the building process as she receives daily update on what I was doing which includes more than two pictures at a time. After painting the doors, that's why she started the issue. I was still explaining to her on WhatsApp why the door can't have the design on the back but she rushed here. The reasons are as follows;

The size of pipe is 1½" and that design takes up 1¼" so there's no space at the back to do anything else.

Another thing is weight. Already that door is very heavy as it is due to the materials which are basically wrought iron. 14mm wrought iron was used to make the design. Adding more weight will affect the frame and hinges.

I even gave her an offer. I told her if anyone else will do that same door for 80,000 in Lagos, I will dash her 50,000 for inconveniences. The only reason I wanted to do the job for her at the price even with significant looses was to advertise my business here and around her estate and I told her that even before I started. Calling me a fraud and cheat wasn't what I expected.


At this point, I regret taking the job.

AT this point, what readily comes to my mind is the word of a popular novelist, OLIVER GOLDSMITH. "We stoop to conquer"...As a biz man, you really do not need all this shalaye, are you trying to "win" you customer or you're trying to impress we the onlookers, you dont even know 99% of us here...Reach out to her and "stoop to conquer".....If you have done so, please do it again and reach out to people who can do it again in your behalf....Michlin is not a CHEAT...Things were clearly misunderstood, it happens all the time in your line of business...
This situation can be remedy, if both of you really want to.

As you dey give your thanks, just know say decking different from decking which can lead to the number and types of rods needed. Decking is not all about size. Two decking can be of the same size but with huge difference in cost outcome due to design and best practice applications.

Note this before you take on your builder.

I hv paid him his balance even though his use of language over this issue was unprofessional but i hv taken it as it is but am very sad about having one sided design in my build . If i was made aware of this blank sided design,i wont do it . He told me about using plain pan of which i thought normally plain pan is used in making door but not knowing he is using to make the back side as he didn't explain of what use the plain pan will be . People said the back side of the door looks like a warehouse door anyway i will manage it like that .

The same applies to concrete roof. My concrete roof hasn’t pose a single problem over 10 years of its installation. And we never had to apply any treatment on it. No felt. No waterproofing solution.

Just a gentle slope to direct the water off the slab.

This is my 10 year old flat concrete roof. No issues.

Forget those black spots. I can get the slab cleaned in 30 minutes.

I test everything and hold on to that which is true.

Roofs don’t leak because it is flat. It leaks because it is badly installed.

In the UK, you currently need to consult a specialist insurer to purchase building insurance if the percentage of flat roof to total surface area in your roofing scheme is greater than 30%.

They even use Google Maps satellite view to calculate the thing so one cannot even lie in peace again, lol.

I'm having to deploy pythagoras theorem and advanced geometry in a current dispute with one insurance company regarding a family member's insurance claim.
