BAZ001:Many uber drivers fail because they are given stupid cars to drive. In as much as the revolution on drivers mentality on money making has begun, they'll be held back if their cars have to spend days on end at the mechanic being fixed. A good car is the foundation on which every other success is built. On a personal note, I make bold to say that if my car wasn't top notch, I won't smell 900k a month. That's why I do preventive maintenance. My dashboard "BRAKE" light came on this morning. Basically tells me there's a minor issue with the braking system. Minor because it went off after a while, but I'm already calling for brake pads and lining as against tomorrow. At worst, brake master. Whatever it is, it will be fixed tomorrow. |

ameristu:Lolz...they will not accept it. Legally and technically he cannot drive yet, until u have done training, passed test and done capturing. U can only register with the document u get after capturing...sometimes a sheet of paper, most times d temporary drivers licence. |

Pearl1910:Higher purchase is a different kind of business where you are at risk of forfeiting the car and all monies paid if you default. Default crops up due to inability to make payment. Inability to make payment can be linked to the fact that car is spending time at the mechanic. If I was buying a car cash and carry and I get there with a mechanic and mechanic identifies some issues that can be fixed, I don't mind paying for the car and driving it away in that state, cos I'll be ready to fix whatever wrong in it. In the case of going with a mechanic to check a car I want on higher purchase, it will be foolish of me to identify that shocks are bad, battery gone, linkage gone, compressor low, tyres are needed, etc, and still go ahead to deposit 300k, drive car away, start spending extra money on fixes, while someone is holding up a contract and counting 7 days for me to make first payment. HP is serious business. If provider isn't ready to do HP the right way, he should sell the car as is, and rest. |

CheerfulGiver:Now, imagine the both of us have a contract per driver/ partner, why would I want to take the car away from you? People fail to understand that contracts should'nt be more defensive(reactive) than offensive( proactive). For example, partners don't include the clause of having a regular car maintenance routine within a given timeframe whether or not, car is faulty. Many contracts are designed to include security deposits, remittal and/or when there's a major accident. Many partners want your 900k per month but aren't spend money to maintain the car. |

Pearl1910:I was just joking jare. The first house I ever rented had no tiles. It was quite difficult getting a house with tiles in Onitsha at the time, I don't know if that has changed now. I informed the landlord I will have to do tiles and he gave his approval. When I parked out of the house, the landlord increased the rent. I later found out the rent was increased because of the tiles I put. ![]() |

Felicity0001:God knows they won't try that shit with me. You won arrest your oga? At most, I flash them I.D. matter settled. But why are we so very lawless in Nigeria? As a security agent, you know curfew time is 12 midnight but you are arresting people by 11:45pm. On a norms, you will even give 30 minutes grace for people, so until 12:30 am you can't make an arrest, but this country people ehn! E get as e dey be..... |

pleasureosondu:This is why I say driving isn't for everyone and it's why when I direct my posts to people it applies to and people who reason like me, people who don't fall into the category attack with guns blazing and why I send them back with grenade launchers and armoured tanks. In as much as I can effectively advise Higher Purchasers, I don't encourage it. Any one with 300k for deposit can as well drive a rental and save 700k in 6 months. All it takes is discipline. Someone will say not everyone has discipline, and I'll say to the person that if you do not have discipline you can never use uber as a means to an end. I believe it's easier to save 4,000naira daily for 6months or 5000 for 5 months, than drive and fix one car for 2 years, while consistently paying 30/35k weekly as per terms in your HP agreement. Which one is better, buying a clean Nigerian used after 5 - 8months of saving? Or wait to own a Nigerian used, which your car will become after two years? Get a rental, pay 30k split repair costs with owner, save, buy your own after 5 to 8 months (depending on how much you save daily) Get a HP, pay 35k, all repair costs on you, which will eat into your savings for 2 years. Own car after 2 years. My life no hard. |

Idaytesj29:There were over 50 cars in Conoil and surroundings around LASUTH this morning. Uber and non uber cars. Cars were arrested at gunpoint. You want to argue with an armed man? |

CheerfulGiver: @ the bolded. Easy man. Well spoken and I'm not against rentals/ HP either because Las Las, each individual will determine what's best for them according to their circumstances. Our job is to lay bare the possible outcomes for rental or HP. The choice is theirs. On another serious matter, this Taliban matter in Afghanistan, una sure say we no go dey affected? These guys are Sunni Muslims with the same jihadist mindset like Boko Haram. If the American government couldn't neutralize them, does the Nigerian government stand a chance? Just thinking out loud |
| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Pearl1910: 5:35pm On Aug 15, 2021 |
CheerfulGiver:The bolded is the end of the story. If driver sees car has plenty issues and most importantly, engine isn't sound. And still goes ahead to make down payment and picks car, how can u blame owner. It's the driver that is obviously a fool. So if all driver do this and reject the car, owner will sit-up. Nobody will even buy a bad car at the market rate if the car has issues. |

| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Pearl1910: 6:44pm On Aug 15, 2021 |
CheerfulGiver:Are u really sure this is easier? Saving 5k daily and still paying ur rent culminates to about 60k weekly commitment don't forget that. 10months and u have saved 1.2 million. That's very good but let's face it, how many people can pay 60k every week for 10months continuously, dedicatedly? And still settle current needs?? Apart from discipline, the money may not be realised every week. On d other hand, d person on HP is midway gone his payments of 30k weekly. Yes, his car will be naija used and so is the car the rental guy will be buying. Like I said, what guarantees do u have that in 10months time, ur target car will remain d same price as when u started the rental? None. |

davit:Don't know much about that, how people can b anyhow sometimes. Ard 6, lasma and traffic police stopped me under Ojuelegba bridge. They were trying to pin traffic light offence on me. I refused to pull aside or open the doors, we drag it till cars start horning at my back. They snap the car and my face, that I'm free to go I'll hear from them. I'm home now thinking through the possible outcome of the pix, hopefully tge panel that will judge our case, should give both parties fair hearing. |

davit:Pls how do you guys do this ? Send people out of your car, once you seated I can’t or don’t know how to tell an adult get down from my car. Yesterday I was abused by one yellow owambe sisi eko, I sensed it from phone conversation but it was 1.8 surge and couldn’t resist the temptation. Rider: where are you ? (No greeting) Me: I’m at (she cuts) Rider: you say you arrived but not here Me: I’m at Campbell street st nicholas (raising my voice too ) Rider: No ooh, not St Nicholas. I’m at cambell event hall, ask people around pls. Me: (dis na troublemaker) just cancel Rider: (called again ) come to 3rd floor Got to third floor car pack, she kept calling all this while but didn’t pick. Me: (picked ) I’m in 3rd floor Rider: shouted I said 4 not 3rd, 4th floor, 4 ooh Me: ( my spirit telling me to jappa and cancel, but surge won’t allow me listen ) Picked her... Rider: wear your mask oooh Me: (looked at her so she would see my mask is on) Rider: be fast ohh ( then she started spraying disinfectant in the car speaking both English and Yoruba, wanted to ask what she was spraying and without permission) Me: ( just dumb and numb, who sent me) We made several stops but I just held me cool. We stopped to tie gele, stopped to withdraw money. In all the stops, she was commanding me with attitude as if I was her driver and she owns me and the car. I was sure of giving her 1star cause I don’t want to ever meet her again but mistakenly or unconsciously I gave her 5star, pained me. But how do you look at an adult and say pls come down from my car ? I could have parked and say pls I no go again, but don’t think I have it in me right now. |

BAZ001: ![]() Bro, you already said it was the 1.8 surge na. The funny thing is that most drivers gladly condone these insults from riders because of the money involved but will physically abuse their wife and /or loved ones if they did the same thing. For me, If I don't tolerate such conduct from a family member/ close friend, why should I condone such from a total stranger because of money and on top my car? Folks can call it pride, I call it self-dignity. |
| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by BAZ001: 9:27pm On Aug 15, 2021 |
pleasureosondu:The surge made me to ignore the red flags of troublemaker but at one of the stops I just wished I could tell her, I’m not going again pls come down. She’s naturally a difficult person cause of the way she was talking on phone. We meet people like this once in a while but to tell her to go down is the skill I need to learn or just keep sucking it in and cashing out 7,300 on a trip. Guess what. Trip ended 7,300 , she counted mint 500 naira and held it in one hand and said bring 200 naira change. Like she won’t give me the money if I have no change. Me just jejely gave her 200 naira mint too carry you wahala go. But d 5star I gave still paining me If I post my yesterday dashboard, you all won’t know the insult and abuse that earned me the money. |

BAZ001:Who cares? My grandmother always says "call me foolish, but pay me correct". You made money, that's all. Who hasn't been insulted in the course of their jobs? I've seen bankers being insulted on top suit and tie, inside bank, by their bosses. Make them resign if them born them well na. ![]() |
