Hello house, I am interested in Uber but do not have a driver's license so I went to FRSC to get an "ongoing registration licence" papers till I get the proper licence. Can I use the on-going papers to register for uber?
Please I need an urgent reply.
Thanks.

Bro, register, if them reject you, that means you can't, if them accept you then you can. Shikena. grin

it is easier for a criminal or an offender to go free in the hands of Benin police, than for an innocent person to go free, and they will make sure dey milk the innocent more, and if u refused to pay ur family will pay through their nose, wen dem don knack one allegation for ur head for free, and if ur family refuses to pay many end up in Oko Prison

at least and offender or a criminal did something wrong, negotiating with the police it’s even is an advantage to the offender

what happens when you are innocent, your only crime is riding on a cab alone, or been a road user via public bus or taxi

Benin police are one of the notorious in this country, but bcus our people like to pay and don’t share their stories is the main reason people still think Benin police don’t have problem

this is an issue i really don’t want to discuss bcus those musters are good for nothing.

and fr thr number of checks points, on my road alone u can have up to 4 police checking points

from my area to that of my mum i can go through 8 police check points

from my area to my church i can go through 5-6 check points and among them is the notorious IRT, IRT na cab and flashy cars dem dey after

Hey! the revolution has turned to partners/car owners.
Let me hold one leg of this table you are about to shake ...

Partners/intending are not happy with you
In their mind right now, “ who does he think he his”? Msheeewww.

Table don turn ehhh
Fleet managers and intending fleet managers grin

Many uber drivers fail because they are given stupid cars to drive. In as much as the revolution on drivers mentality on money making has begun, they'll be held back if their cars have to spend days on end at the mechanic being fixed. A good car is the foundation on which every other success is built. On a personal note, I make bold to say that if my car wasn't top notch, I won't smell 900k a month. That's why I do preventive maintenance.

My dashboard "BRAKE" light came on this morning. Basically tells me there's a minor issue with the braking system. Minor because it went off after a while, but I'm already calling for brake pads and lining as against tomorrow. At worst, brake master. Whatever it is, it will be fixed tomorrow.

Lolz...they will not accept it. Legally and technically he cannot drive yet, until u have done training, passed test and done capturing.
U can only register with the document u get after capturing...sometimes a sheet of paper, most times d temporary drivers licence.

Strong point.

But don't forget HP is practically car purchase, so driver should carry mechanic and do due diligence on the car just like if he was purchasing the car cash and carry.

U don't ask a car dealer for guarantee of any part when buying a car so how can u give driver guarantees?
Higher purchase is a different kind of business where you are at risk of forfeiting the car and all monies paid if you default. Default crops up due to inability to make payment. Inability to make payment can be linked to the fact that car is spending time at the mechanic. If I was buying a car cash and carry and I get there with a mechanic and mechanic identifies some issues that can be fixed, I don't mind paying for the car and driving it away in that state, cos I'll be ready to fix whatever wrong in it.

In the case of going with a mechanic to check a car I want on higher purchase, it will be foolish of me to identify that shocks are bad, battery gone, linkage gone, compressor low, tyres are needed, etc, and still go ahead to deposit 300k, drive car away, start spending extra money on fixes, while someone is holding up a contract and counting 7 days for me to make first payment.

HP is serious business. If provider isn't ready to do HP the right way, he should sell the car as is, and rest.

Now, imagine the both of us have a contract per driver/ partner, why would I want to take the car away from you? People fail to understand that contracts should'nt be more defensive(reactive) than offensive( proactive). For example, partners don't include the clause of having a regular car maintenance routine within a given timeframe whether or not, car is faulty. Many contracts are designed to include security deposits, remittal and/or when there's a major accident. Many partners want your 900k per month but aren't spend money to maintain the car.

Life, If the landlord is nasty, I go comot all fancy switches, chandelier grin and put what I met. But if nice and understanding I can even put tiles and pop without collecting balance.

But before I do any improvement, I still need permission from landlord. Because when I leave he will be responsible for the maintainance of that improvement. Or if it is to be removed it might damage his structure.

That's my own perspective.

I was just joking jare.

The first house I ever rented had no tiles. It was quite difficult getting a house with tiles in Onitsha at the time, I don't know if that has changed now.

I informed the landlord I will have to do tiles and he gave his approval.

When I parked out of the house, the landlord increased the rent.

I later found out the rent was increased because of the tiles I put. cheesy

Ok, this will bring me to share my experience with the same area F police command.

On that fateful friday night after dropping of my rider off Kudirat Abiola Rd at about 11:28pm I knew time was running fast so i needed get home due to the curfew which starts at 12mindnight. Got to mobile filling station, Awolowo way about 3min afterwards then pulled over to do No.1... After that I hooped into my car and drove off...

Got to that club near firstbank along the Awolowo way then decided to wait a minute checking something on my phone while hoping to get a set destinatiin trip. This was exactly 11:45pm. On raising my head I saw about 3 police vans parked across the road and the men jumping down crossing over towards the other side of the road where I was parked... The corolla behind me moved with speed, I wanted to zoom off with him as my engine was still running with gear engaged but base on the knowledge of the time and happening I summoned confident and decided to stay but moving slowly...

Stop!! stop!! stop!!! With all form of aggression 3 of them entered into my car like say na only me them come for...move it!
Me: yes sir! To where sir?!
Area F police station.
Got to underbridge
Me: I stopped. But wait oh, officer watin I even do self, where una dey carry me go... One said watin b ur time... I showed him on my dashboard, sir this is 11:56pm now you guys stopped me at about 11:48/50pm so what offence have I committed.
Don't worry when we get there you'll know better, move it!

The story long oh with a lot of funny happenings but let me cut it short.

They brought in other people and we were about 70-75 of us with some foreigners and musicians with a few elderly people. Come see matter na.

Already made some calls but guess man was sleeping.

After plenty of dramas, people were sorting 50-30-70k and so I started begging this guys with 10k them say lie lie na 20k last. I just vex told the lady "madam u go finally beg me for 1k from this money" she thought i was Just blabbing. I went and sat down one place observating.

Exactly 5am the oga at the top returned my call... We talked briefly and he said he would send sb down right away. At this time them don dey throw us into cell. The mumu who oga at the top sent came and was busy asking of my me whispering to his colleague and the one taking down names instead of them to ask told him he hasn't written down any name like felicity... I was just watching them but didn't want to interrupt because them change am for me.

After about 20min nothing, I call oga back and he got annoyed, "don't worry I'm coming..." Fortunately he was at his residence next compound at the time and not even the heavy down pour that early morning could stop him. 2min oga show na so everywhere burst...

Oga shun!!! Shun!! Shuns! Sir we asked of the name o but nobody answer us... sherupp! He called my line... Come c "all eyes on me". grin chai! I pitied the handsome looking Indian man and others I believe they all would be praying I tell oga at the top "we dey together". But menh... I have to get off the hook first b4 I can help anybody o.

Oga match, straight to Area command office... 5min later the one came with an umbrella to pick me. What happened young man? I talk... Please release him right now! Yes sir! Shun sir!

Summoned madam in charge I was begging with 10k all along but refused, go and bring his keys and other belongings under your possession. Yes sir!
Follow him on waiting here for you. Got to her cubicle of a office and she gave me my keys and DL as I won turn na so her junior colleague that was posting me from one post to another then said, bros you no go drop something for us? I told them... So una dey beg now abi? Remember I told you guys una go beg for something, I just pity them given them 2k. Waka...

Shun! shun!! shun!!! As oga at the top was going still inside the rain.

So that is what the Area F police does especially on Fridays, for any reason you find yourself chopping live btw 12mindnight to 4am or working just be on the watchout. Uber drivers and anyone parked outside a club house are their main target. But their liver no dey carry them reach African Shrine side at all.grin

God knows they won't try that shit with me. You won arrest your oga? At most, I flash them I.D. matter settled.

But why are we so very lawless in Nigeria? As a security agent, you know curfew time is 12 midnight but you are arresting people by 11:45pm.

On a norms, you will even give 30 minutes grace for people, so until 12:30 am you can't make an arrest, but this country people ehn! E get as e dey be.....

This is why I say driving isn't for everyone and it's why when I direct my posts to people it applies to and people who reason like me, people who don't fall into the category attack with guns blazing and why I send them back with grenade launchers and armoured tanks.

In as much as I can effectively advise Higher Purchasers, I don't encourage it. Any one with 300k for deposit can as well drive a rental and save 700k in 6 months. All it takes is discipline. Someone will say not everyone has discipline, and I'll say to the person that if you do not have discipline you can never use uber as a means to an end.

I believe it's easier to save 4,000naira daily for 6months or 5000 for 5 months, than drive and fix one car for 2 years, while consistently paying 30/35k weekly as per terms in your HP agreement.

Which one is better, buying a clean Nigerian used after 5 - 8months of saving? Or wait to own a Nigerian used, which your car will become after two years?

Get a rental, pay 30k split repair costs with owner, save, buy your own after 5 to 8 months (depending on how much you save daily)

Get a HP, pay 35k, all repair costs on you, which will eat into your savings for 2 years. Own car after 2 years.

My life no hard.

grin @ the bolded. Easy man.

Well spoken and I'm not against rentals/ HP either because Las Las, each individual will determine what's best for them according to their circumstances. Our job is to lay bare the possible outcomes for rental or HP. The choice is theirs.

On another serious matter, this Taliban matter in Afghanistan, una sure say we no go dey affected? These guys are Sunni Muslims with the same jihadist mindset like Boko Haram. If the American government couldn't neutralize them, does the Nigerian government stand a chance? Just thinking out loud

If driver sees car has plenty issues and most importantly, engine isn't sound. And still goes ahead to make down payment and picks car, how can u blame owner. It's the driver that is obviously a fool. So if all driver do this and reject the car, owner will sit-up.
Nobody will even buy a bad car at the market rate if the car has issues.

Sure sure there are blessings. I agree.

From owners perspective:
Some drivers do improvements and want to use it as a form of right or as blackmail. Some drivers do shaby and poor jobs at repairs.
So from my experience, I don't allow it.

From drivers perspective:
Owners take advantage of drivers, pass on responsibilities and exploit them.

So to avoid all these, I say stick to the agreement/contract. If u agreed to do it, or u do it out of ur own volution, then don't compalin tomorrow.
Am saying this because some guys here are fond of coming to tell us how they did xyz in d car and owner did not appreciate and still collected his car. Or how they used all their savings to b repairing car for owner that's why they haven't had money/savings to buy their own.

NB: I am not referring to Pleasureosondu.

Are u really sure this is easier?
Saving 5k daily and still paying ur rent culminates to about 60k weekly commitment don't forget that.
10months and u have saved 1.2 million. That's very good but let's face it, how many people can pay 60k every week for 10months continuously, dedicatedly? And still settle current needs?? Apart from discipline, the money may not be realised every week.

On d other hand, d person on HP is midway gone his payments of 30k weekly. Yes, his car will be naija used and so is the car the rental guy will be buying.

Like I said, what guarantees do u have that in 10months time, ur target car will remain d same price as when u started the rental? None.

No be lie. Some drivers are the ones making these riders think sey dem get power.

One rider booked me this evening. Getting to PU, I tired calling her but number not available. Meanwhile she was outside looking at my car. There were many of them there. I used inapp call too, no response. Mins later she came close to my car and started abusing me for not calling her.
I tried to maintain my cool. Showed her the no of times I've tried calling her. I asked why she too didn't call. She began schooling me on why only drivers MUST call. I jejely asked her to get out my car. The thing pain her o. But I no care. Twas even an opportunity for me to go eat.
We should stop taking shits from these riders guys.

Pls how do you guys do this ?
Send people out of your car, once you seated I can’t or don’t know how to tell an adult get down from my car.

Yesterday I was abused by one yellow owambe sisi eko, I sensed it from phone conversation but it was 1.8 surge and couldn’t resist the temptation.
Rider: where are you ? (No greeting)
Me: I’m at (she cuts)
Rider: you say you arrived but not here
Me: I’m at Campbell street st nicholas (raising my voice too )
Rider: No ooh, not St Nicholas. I’m at cambell event hall, ask people around pls.
Me: (dis na troublemaker) just cancel
Rider: (called again ) come to 3rd floor
Got to third floor car pack, she kept calling all this while but didn’t pick.
Me: (picked ) I’m in 3rd floor
Rider: shouted I said 4 not 3rd, 4th floor, 4 ooh
Me: ( my spirit telling me to jappa and cancel, but surge won’t allow me listen )
Picked her...
Rider: wear your mask oooh
Me: (looked at her so she would see my mask is on)
Rider: be fast ohh ( then she started spraying disinfectant in the car speaking both English and Yoruba, wanted to ask what she was spraying and without permission)
Me: ( just dumb and numb, who sent me)
We made several stops but I just held me cool.
We stopped to tie gele, stopped to withdraw money. In all the stops, she was commanding me with attitude as if I was her driver and she owns me and the car.
I was sure of giving her 1star cause I don’t want to ever meet her again but mistakenly or unconsciously I gave her 5star, pained me.

But how do you look at an adult and say pls come down from my car ?
I could have parked and say pls I no go again, but don’t think I have it in me right now.

what her god can not do does not exist grin grin grin

BAZ001:

Sir pls how can I contact you privately ?

CheerfulGiver:

Bro, you already said it was the 1.8 surge na. The funny thing is that most drivers gladly condone these insults from riders because of the money involved but will physically abuse their wife and /or loved ones if they did the same thing. For me, If I don't tolerate such conduct from a family member/ close friend, why should I condone such from a total stranger because of money and on top my car? Folks can call it pride, I call it self-dignity.

The surge made me to ignore the red flags of troublemaker but at one of the stops I just wished I could tell her, I’m not going again pls come down.
She’s naturally a difficult person cause of the way she was talking on phone. We meet people like this once in a while but to tell her to go down is the skill I need to learn or just keep sucking it in and cashing out 7,300 on a trip.
Guess what.
Trip ended 7,300 , she counted mint 500 naira and held it in one hand and said bring 200 naira change. Like she won’t give me the money if I have no change. Me just jejely gave her 200 naira mint too carry you wahala go.
But d 5star I gave still paining me

If I post my yesterday dashboard, you all won’t know the insult and abuse that earned me the money.

Who cares? My grandmother always says "call me foolish, but pay me correct". You made money, that's all. Who hasn't been insulted in the course of their jobs? I've seen bankers being insulted on top suit and tie, inside bank, by their bosses.

Make them resign if them born them well na. grin cheesy
