[quote author= post=104923798] Which kin yeye pool attendant be dat one Some people may be wondering how do people sink when they drowned. Or why do some people float and why do some sink? The reason/difference is that, People float when they have air in their lungs. If we drown with lungs full of water then most of us become slightly denser than water. A few days later the gases in the gut caused by bacterial decomposition will often bring the body to the surface again. People with a lot of body fat may not sink because fat is lighter than water, while skinny people are more likely to sink because their bones, which are much denser than water, form a large percentage of their body weight. There you have it. May the soul of the young girl rest in peace. What a sad incident. [/quotesu Such a painful loss. Thank you for the insight. I have learnt something today on why some people sink and some float. 1 Like 1 Share |

Hmmmm...... they couldn't see to the bottom of the pool. Was the water that dirty? How did the receptionist find her?... did she enter the pool feeling for her and the search party didn't? .... how do they know she drowned and was not murdered and tossed into the pool? The pool attendant need to be aggressively interrogated. |

BigRocky: Transcorp Hotel, Eko Hotel and others dont have life guard on duty. Its not a requirement nor is it compulsory. |

BigRocky: Please be civil with your comments. It is not an invitation to a fight. Its not about what is reasonable or what you expect sitting in your house, it's about rules and regulations. I have mentioned the two biggest hotels in Nigeria that probably have the best standards and operations compared to others, and they do not have lifeguard on duty. Also, the only attempt to make it a requirement was by Lagos State in 2017 and it is still not a law. Even in foreign countries it is not compulsory also, the only provision is if you charge a fee for the pool specifically, then you should have a lifeguard within specified hours. I don't need to reason anything. My reasoning could be flawed like your assertions. I find out what the law states. It is not a requirement nor is it compulsory. The hotel is a business concern, governed by rules and not everybody's expectations. The attendant quoted is probably a waiter or bar man serving guest around the pool area. People telling him to go into the pool is funny. Guy probably can't swim also. |

Originalsly:Bros there is a possibility the pool was not in use so dirty. On the other hand it might be in use, but a deep sided pool in which the bottom might not be clear from above. A pool attendant will not be at the poolside permanently, he has his break or might be absent when the pool is not in use. If you take a child to a hotel, the beach etc, you have a responsibility to monitor such child. What if the child had wondered out of the hotel to the road and a vehicle hits the child or the child is kidnapped, will you blame the hotel for negligence? It is a different matter if the parents brought the child to the hotel during swimming period for swimming activities and the child unfortunately drowns, then you can hold the hotel or attendant liable. I think in this case, the parents unfortunately were negligent. 1 Like |

nedekid: I agree. She was with relatives at the hotel. They thought she had gone to change. Doesn't that suggest they were all in near the pool? ... and knew she was there? Yes....they were the negligent ones. 1 Like |

Vabama:This is one of the major bad reputation that kills hotel faster than Covid19, hotels should be careful, rip to the girl, it's a pity, why would the parent even allow a 14 year old girl to go swimming |
