Getting the two OPVs does not necessarily stop the frigate program. The CNS wants it and I don't see how frigate can be substituted for OPVs.

Throw back

When The Nigerian Air Force made history with the conduct of an ISR mission by an all female crew.

The mission, which was conducted via a King Air 350i was preceded by the customary pre-flight briefing, originated from the 307 Executive Airlift Group (307 EAG) and covered Niger State where intell that would support NAF air interdiction missions was gathered.

It wasn't long ago when we made a mockery of the first Nigerian APC. Honestly, this is impressive, it looks like it came from Turkey or SA. Great job.

Thank you Sir for this answer.

However, Trump spent only 4 years in power, we are talking about a problem that is 20 years in the making.

Even if we account for the 4 years, what about the rest 16 years?

How do you explain that America spent 88 billion dollars over 20 years in training alone, yet the full army collapsed in one month.

It burgles the mind.

Actually, the Global Elites simply wanted several things:
- the opium/heroin biz shutdown by the Taliban revived
-more money from increased global def spending
-weaken and demoralise America to psychologically pave the way for China's rise
-death and destruction to please the Lord of Chaos.
They earned at least several trillion!

These ships are guarding oil installations and moving oil field logistics. They are not paid for by the Navy. They are privately owned and to be partially crewed by Naval ratings

Nigerian Navy expecting more platforms before end of 2020Published 2 years ago on December 18, 2019

The Nigerian Navy says it is expecting the delivery of more platforms before the end of 2020 to join her fleet to further boost the Services’ maritime security operations.

Rear Admiral Tariworio Dick, the Chief of Training and Operations, Naval Headquarters, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja, while giving the Nigerian Navy score card for 2019.

He explained that the Service was expecting these platforms from various manufacturers from within and outside the country.

“In 2019 the Nigerian Navy acquired some platform to boost her maritime security operations among which are 20 x Riverine Patrol Boats, 20 x Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIBs) and 2 x 25 Man House Boats,” he said.

Dick listed the platforms expected to join the Services’ fleet in 2020 to include, 1 x 60m Hydrographic Survey Ship from Ocea France, 2 x 40m FPBs from Damen Shipyard Vietnam, and 1 x 43m SDB III from Naval Dockyard Limited Lagos.

So these are FBPs to you?. Well they are not. These two are field crew supply vessels for the oil industry. They will be slighty armoured but won't carry offensive weapons. Pls show me the budget item no. from 2018 or 2019 where it shows procurement of FBP from Damen.

The statement from the Nigerian Navy is clear, 2 x FBS, designation/name of a vessel differs from country to country.

A contractor owned vessel would not have the pennant of the Nigerian Navy.

Both vessels from Vietnam and are named NNS Kano and NNS Ikenne.

Show me the budget item no where the procurement of 12 x Super Tucanos fro. America is detailed?

You need to show proof your claim.

DAMEN COMPLETES SEA TRIALS OF 40M PATROL VESSEL PAIR FOR NIGERIA
By Baird Maritime - November 20, 2019

Damen Shipyards Group has completed sea trials of two patrol vessels in a series ordered by Nigerian maritime security company SR Platforms.

The two vessels each have a length of 40 metres, a maximum speed of 29 knots, a range of 2,000 nautical miles, and a 140-square-metre aft deck for transporting personnel and cargo as well as for accommodating equipment for firefighting and oil spill recovery.

Both vessels were readily available in stock at Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam. Upon delivery, these will be deployed by SR Platforms as fast support intervention vessels on a contract with a major international oil company.

Is this the same contract or a separate one?

It's hard to say if it's the same.

However contractor patrol vessels do not bear a Nigerian navy pennant.

This depends on agreement reached with the Navy on these assets that are dedicated to their operations. They may have been 'bought, transfered and leased from the Navy' and dedicated to their operations 100%.
This strategy will free the oil company from crewing and maintenance which is expensive and not their core business.

They will also have their own logistics crew on board with the Navy to load and offload supplies for the rigs and platforms.

Therefore, in one acquisition the company has gotten a security guard boat, supply ship and cew transport all rolled into one. Pirates have a lot of work to do if not an impossible task.

The use of that pennant denotes Nigerian Navy ownership, not just operation.
For example, the 7 or so 35m Sentinels delivered by Paramount Naval Systems for commercial Nigerian clients, all use the MV pennant. I'm not sure but I think some of them are crewed by NN personnel, yet retain MV.

This is what is obtainable in the Nigerian Navy, don't know what @riceproducers is arguing over.

Kenya and Ethiopia have minimal economic ties with each other. There have been some investments by Kenya into Ethiopia in recent years but it's mostly limited cooperation on security matters. Apart from the expected influx of refugees if the Ethiopian conflict spreads South, there isn't going to be much impact.

The militants once pushed back will retreat towards kenyan territory.Incidences of Ethiopian soldiers crossing over to Kenya in pursuit of them have also been reported before.
