VO: Good morning.

Me: Morning ma'am.

VO: Where're you going?

Me: I'm going to Rutgers University for my masters degree in economics with concentration in econometrics and quantitative economics.

VO: Tell me about econometrics and quantitative econometrics.

VO: You've got $118k (she saw that in I-20)

Me: Yes, my uncle is co-sponsoring me with my dad. However personal fund is stated on my I-20 because the money is readily available in my personal bank account. ***She looked straight into my eyeball, I smiled and confidently continued talking. . . What happened was that last year I got this admission and one other admission at the London School of Economics but I had to defer the two admissions due to covid-19, but I intentionally didn't inform my sponsors that I deferred until I got the complete estimated cost of the masters program. *She smiled and cut-in.

VO: You chose Rutgers over LSE??!!

Me: Yes, because I prefer the US over the UK. **she nodded.

VO: What does your dad do?

Me: He's a deputy director at the *** and my uncle is a ***.

She typed for about 1minute, smiled at me but I bone her smile, as I never know wetin wan zup. LOL

Hi, when your first EA was denied, you should open your cgi portal and you would meet EA request tab active again, you would then use it to make another EA request.
Attach I20, D's 160 confirmation page and SeVis receipt.

Trust the Lord to help you

U don't need agent to do this for you at all.

All th best

Hello people, what is really happening? I've been applying for dates on the US portal for the past 3 months to no avail. My school resumes tommorow but I was given a month grace, is it because I have dependants with me? I'm tired of searching, I've used about 3 agents to no avail. I applied for emergency date, and it was denied. Nothing is wrong with my documents, I dont know why there are no dates available I'm sincerely frustrated. Please how can I be helped? My present agent has been searching since last week, to no avail.

My visa was approved in Lagos today for a J1 exchange visitor visa. Transcript loading.

I'm a software engineer and I got accepted into an internship program in California. I applied for visa with my husband. We got married nine months ago. Exchange programs usually require that you have a visa sponsor, so you pretty much do all of your documentation with them first. Then they register you on the SEVIS database once you have competed all your documentation.

For the records, the marriage certificate we submitted was the one obtained from the mosque where we got married. And I didn't change my name after I got married.

Initial date scheduled: July 2022

First expedited request was submitted on 14th of July and it was rejected. I guessed it was because I didn't attach any document. Then I read online that you need to attach DS-2019 and SEVIS fee payment receipt. So a colleague in the US helped me with the payment and it reflected on the portal after three days because he used the mailing option. I sent in another emergency request and it was approved after one week.

Expedited date: August 19th 2021
Location: Lagos

VO: What are you studying
ME: Currently pursuing a degree in *** at UNILAG

VO: what type of degree
ME: Masters degree

VO: is ****** a company or a school?
ME: it's a company

VO: How long will this internship last?
ME: 1 year

VO: will you be leaving your degree and concluding it when you return?
ME: I am currently writing my research and I would be defending in a few weeks time.

VO: is this program part of your degree. Or a separate arrangement?
ME: Its a separate arrangement

VO: ***Types and looks at my DS-2019. Then hands me a booklet. And said: if your rights as an employee in the US is violated, feel free to contact this organisation. Ensure you go through it when you get home. I would be approving your Visa.

My husband want not asked any question.

All the best folks. Ensure you are confident during your interview. I posted this because there is limited information on exchange visitor visas on nairaland

Guys please I’m confused and in need of help. When I applied for an emergency appointment, the earliest possible date I got was for 26th of August, however, my school resumes on the 23rd so I already booked my flight for Abuja for next week. However, my school wrote to me today that if I can’t make it by the resumption date, I might have to defer my admission to January or take this semester courses online.

After much deliberation, I decided to defer till January since she told me that the visa won’t be granted coz I need to take a minimum of one course on site and it’s too late for that and she is willing to issue me a new I-20 for January and deferment letter.

Now my issue is this, will I be able to interview for January in August? given this rule of you can only interview within 120days to your next resumption date.

Hey there. That’s correct that there’s the 120 days rule which states that F-1 visas can’t be issued no more than 120 days before the start of program. However I came across some info which says it’s alright to go due to covid-19 issues. I’m not totally sure if you can bank on that. I’d advise you to send an email using the feedback on cgi portal to check if it’s OK to still attend in August or send an email to the NIV section of Lagos/Abuja embassy? The other option would be to reschedule.
Maybe some one else on here that has gone through this can give a better insight.

Have you been given a new I-20 for Spring?

If you’ve deferred to Spring semester then you can’t go to the visa interview with Fall I-20. Instead write to your school, politely ask if they can permit you to resume late and issue an extension letter.

Please my people, on my i-20 family member is stated on it as my sponsor and I sent my sister's statement of account to the school. On filling my Visa application I'm confused with the option to choose which are a) child b) parent c) spouse d) other relative e) others. Please for those of us that used our sisters or aunty, which should i choose and since my i-20 has family can I changed from sister to aunty while attending my interview before the VO and it's also a different surname too that we bears. Please someone should assist in answering this question. Thanks. We shall all sing glory songs at the end of our struggle
