You are only of this opinion because it's not your reality. It's a normal human behaviour.
I don't understand this comment.

What I'm saying is there is room for a political settlement in Afghanistan. They can't go on with the fighting.

America is right to withdraw, military defeat or not.

Afghanistan has been at war for 45 years, the Taliban is not like Isis or Alqeada, they have huge local support, hence the US initiated peace talks.

Even while the Americans were fully on the ground in Afghanistan, the Taliban still controlled 40 - 55% of the country.

It is not for us to determine what should happen in Afghanistan, let local Afghans do that.

If the world's most powerful country could not achieve military victory there, what's the point in fighting?

They have upto 28 helicopters, 22 planes under their command. The only problem might be ammunition, fuel and manpower.

The counter has started, they took 3 districts from the Taliban yesterday
The offensive that they were unable to launch 20 years ago with US support to defeat the Taliban and liberate all territories.
The Taliban are currently consolidating power in important regions to ensure that their authority in those regions is unchallenged for long. Once they are done with forming a strong government in the center, they will have time for these others.
The politics behind the handing over of the country to the Taliban is crazy

Lol, and where do you think they would lunch the counter attack from? Uzbekistan wouldn't allow that to happen, because they know the Taliban would try to destabilise their country....and unless they moved the logistics for those aircrafts, I don't think they would last more than 1 week sortie......a district in Afghanistan is like a local Government and they have I think 358 districts, they only control 3. In the north and the north has the smallest fractured districts.
They should go and rest, the game in Afghanistan is checkmate.

Spares will be the biggest challenge especially for the US equipment. Probably why the US is not bothered.

Well they have the advantage of surprise and guerilla warfare... Especially now that Taliban is forced to operate like a conventional force.
I think they wanna reach a stalemate, were the divide the country.

Do you know what terrorism is? And why it is called Terrorism? I think you don't. That is why you equate mass genocidal killings with the activities of the MEND.
Perhaps you don't know how far MEND went in terrorizing people in the Niger delta.

DubaiLandLord1:
Following the rising spate of insecurity in Jos and its environs, the Management of the University of Jos has suspended all academic activities in the institution till
further notice.

Mr Monday Danjem, the Registrar of the university, unveiled this development in a statement on Friday in Jos.

According to Danjem, the decision to suspend academic activities and shut hostels was arrived at the end of the meeting between management and the Committee of Deans, Directors and Provost of the institution on Friday, August 20.

“The insecurity in Jos, which led to the imposition of dusk-to-dawn curfew has affected the academic activities and forced the university to suspend its second semester examinations for the 2019/2020 academic session.

“Students of the university continued to experience attacks from hoodlums, a situation that has led to the death of some of our students.

“Consequently, the management of the university, after an emergency meeting with the Committee of Deans, Directors and Provost on Friday, ordered the suspension all academic activities in the university until further notice.

“Management has also directed the closure of all students hostels until further notice

“The decision, which is in best interest and for the safety of our students, is subject to ratification by the Senate of the University,” Danjem said.

The registrar advised students to vacates all hostels and go back home and other safer abodes until the security situation in Jos improves.

He appealed to security agencies to beef up security at the various students location to enable them vacate to their destinations safely.

“Students are also advised to use safe means of transportation to their respective safer destinations.

“We wish to passionately appeal that a joint patrol team of armed soldiers and other law enforcement agencies should beef up security and ensure that students are adequately protected as they vacate their various hostels to safer destinations,” he appealed.

He said that management would give adequate notice of resumption when normalcy is fully restored in Jos and environs.

Danjem thanked the government of the state and security agencies for ensuring the safety of majority of students of the university even as attacks on innocent people persist in Jos.

He called on the students to be law abiding and desist from activities that would put them in trouble.

Recall that some students of the university have been killed and others injured in the current insecurity that has bedeviled Jos in last one week.

Late to comment but having read the recent posts I must ask: did you TRULY expect a different outcome on Afghanistan?
What, you thought the uncontested airpower, spec ops, unchallenged logistical ability and mech forces were a guarantee of victory?
Errrr...No. Just. No. Power, all power, political or military has limits!
The US COULD'VE sent another 2 decades and 2 trillion USD to try CONTROL a nation of 650,000 km2 to no avail.
Imo, the real US string pullers knew the script and counted upon the twin short term gains of increased global heroin inflows and defence expenditure.
Long term the US is greatly weakened strategically while China wins big (they've ALWAYS been friends with the Taliban) and slowly replaces the former as global hegemon.
You guys, HONESTLY DIDN'T see this coming?

And that is the reason why... You think they are running and hanging on top of a moving plane because they love the Taliban? They are scared and desperate, because blood thirsty murderers are about to take control of their country, that's why they don't want to live under the taliban, it won't bring peace, it will bring oppression, and fighting is the only way out.
A woman was supposedly killed because she couldn't cook well enough, imagine that, and this is just the beginning.
Anyways, all good, good luck to them

There have been none, ordinary Afghans are war weary.

I mean, look at the terrifying images of afghans hanging a flying C-17 for dear life.

800 people packed into a C-17.

What's the point.
