We need to learn to think in terms of institutional core competences, capabilities, processes, standards and their maturity instead of personalities.

I find that we 3rd World countries are reluctant to grow out öf this mindset that glorifies persons instead of teams and institutions. The result is stagnation especially for a technical arm of our security architecture ühere systems and processes are everything

You can have strong personalities and strong institutions at the same time George S Patton, Omar Bradely, General Montgomery, Chester Nimitz were all larger than life personalities.

Praising S.B Abubakar doesn't take away anything from Amao as the current Chief of Air Staff or the institution of the Air Force.

However it is always better for the growth of an institution to have a charismatic leader at the top.

I'm starting to realize that the US might have won the war in Afghanistan after all. What if they have reached an agreement with the Talibans in the months long dialogues on protecting US and western interests. I do not think they are that concerned about who rules the people of Afghanistan or the welfare of the people. They've always been there for their own selfish interests all along, only the people have had the illusion that they were there to protect them from the brutal rule of the Talibans.
Look at it this way, the US told Talibans they were going to start leaving by May 1st 2021, what did the Talibans concede to US go during the negotiations?

The Americans pulled out because they realised the Afghan government and the Taliban were not going to reach an agreement for an all-inclusive government.
Afghan citizens were stuck between choosing between a "publicly perceived" corrupt government and a Taliban opposition bent on implementing Sharia law all over Afghanistan.

If Afghanistans truly love their country, they should stay and fight for it instead of relying on a battle wary United States.

How are US & Western interests protected if Embassies pack up and leave over night?

You have a weird concept of victory.

The Americans pulled out because there was never going to be victory in Afghanistan.

Even while the Americans were on the ground, 50% of Afghanistan was controlled by the Taliban. So they decided, 20 years of war, trillions spent, no victory why continue? I agree with this.

The Americans also want to concentrate on a more familiar foe, that is China & Russia.

The Afghans should find a political settlement with the current realities.

Continued supply of heroine to US pharmaceutical industries and access to rare earth metals particularly Lithium present in large quantities in Afghanistan. Access to other resources too. Embassies can be reopened within a month, the present situation could just be optics.
You do not have to have an absolute military victory for you to win a war.

C-130 might be an overkill for such task. Honestly, they can just dedicate 2 or 3 MI-171 helicopters to be transporting soldiers to points that are relatively safe.

That driver deserve serious flogging but really there isn't much he could do when his own life will probably be at risk.

I don't think so. That's exactly the kind of missions the C-130 was built for: tactical airlift. Besides the C-130 can airlift more troops and equipment. Other than that, why not reactivate our G-222 fleet? We use those or the C130s to Airbases in Yola and Maiduguri, then airlift troops from there to FOBs in the hinterlands with the Mi17I helos.

Now you have chosen to speak as the United States Constitution and arms sales code. Which US contractor is servicing the Iranian Fleet of US fighter jets which has remained air worthy for the past 45 years? Rules, codes are meant to serve as a guide but in cases of unprecedented novel circumstances the outcome of such laws become very unpredictable even by the most learned jurist. We just have to watch and see.

Iran reverse Engineered those parts doesn't mean all the planes are air worthy.
No US contractor sold to Iran in recent time.

This is a dumb comment, how did America's nation building objective in Afghanistan turn out?

"Did the US stop Afghanistan from becoming a terrorist haven? Is ISIS-K not present in Afghanistan?".

American policy in Afghanistan was to develop Democratic institutions, did that happen?

Don't try to be smart by half.

And that is the reason why... You think they are running and hanging on top of a moving plane because they love the Taliban? They are scared and desperate, because blood thirsty murderers are about to take control of their country, that's why they don't want to live under the taliban, it won't bring peace, it will bring oppression, and fighting is the only way out.
A woman was supposedly killed because she couldn't cook well enough, imagine that, and this is just the beginning.
Anyways, all good, good luck to them

That is why Nigerians are not mentally fit to use the social media because there is always a r@tarded explanation to a simple incident.

If you looked carefully at those in that Kabul airport, you would've noticed they had papers, what do you think that paper is?

The stowaway teenager that fell off the sky was identified by the same paper that flew with him, did you bother to find out what that paper signified?

US months ago have been processing documentations for those that worked with them in different capacities, trainers, minders, interpreters, teachers, care givers, cleaners, HUMINT, Embassy employees etc.
These Afghans over the last 20yrs have a huge number, Talibans has a Fatwa on their heads since 2010, immediately US announced their withdrawal, those people ensured the US evacuate them, so those Afghans at the airport are those whose fate are already sealed not your usual Afghan people on the street.

When they heard Taliban had taken over Kabul, they panicked & disrupted a once orderly evacuation process.
Don't think the average Afghan from Kandahar is looking for a stowaway opportunity in Kabul, that is not happening.

This is common misconception, the mission in Afghanistan was never about nation building. This has been said clearly by all administrations from Bush-Obama-Trump and this is the reason why any efforts to build democratic structures were done so half-heartily.

MIYETTI ALLAH HANDS OVER SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS TO POLICE IN TARABA STATE, AS COMMISSIONER OF POLICE PRAISES THEM FOR EXPOSING BAD EGGS AMONG THEM.

The leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association has handed over 11 suspected kidnappers and gun runners to the police.

The suspects were handed over to Taraba police commissioner, Mr Abimbola Sokoya, at Maraban kunini, on Sunday.

They were presented during the formal inauguration of a 16-man committee set up to tackle criminal activities, especially kidnapping.

The chairman of the Miyyetti Allah Cattle breeders Association in the state, Sahabi Tukur, said this was done in response to pledge made before the Emir of Muri Alhaji Abbas Tafida, and state Commissioner of police that they will expose criminal elements among them.

He said the committee members drawn from all the Fulani clans in the state would work along with police and other security agents in all the 16 local government areas of the state to fish out kidnappers and other criminals.

The police commissioner commended the Fulani for their resolve to address kidnapping and other crimes being perpetrated by bad eggs among them.
.

He assured the Fulani of his command’s support to the command support in their efforts to weed out criminals elements among them.

Similarly, six kidnappers who repented have sworn with the Holy Qur’an that they would not engage in kidnapping, Cattle rustling or any other form of criminals activities anymore.

That spot has always been a bad spot on that road. It’s has always been a major ISWAP checkpoint. The Military should be fast on its offensive hopefully in November as the rains are here.

ISWAP can only conduct ambushes for now as the terrain are water logged.

It would seem the Tucanoes are going to be used mainly for ISR. The other six STs to be configured for interdiction would be used sparingly I expect.
I suspect Alpha Jets, J7NIs, JF17s and MI 35Ms would still be the main workhorses.
