Well, I want to enlighten some folks who think that Nigeria is a rich country because I know that Nigeria is not. You see, you consider wealth by comparing the population of a country with its resources or revenue (GDP per capita).

Let me use a simple analogy. When a single man earns 70k and a married man with 3 kids earns 120k, people will be shouting that the second man is rich because he earns 120k. However, when you check his account balance, you realize that he's a broke man because he's using all his money to take care of his kids and wife. Meanwhile, the first man has a reasonable sum in his account because he has no dependents.

This second man is Nigeria. We cannot keep running a country of 200m people on petrodollars. We don't have money; forget the billions you hear in the news. When you convert it to dollars you see how broke this country is. Besides, this country pays a lot of people, leaving the government with little or nothing for capital projects. Little wonder Buhari is borrowing money up and down.

Nigeria needs smart people who can creatively think of how to develop new sources of revenue, institutionally and technologically fight corruption, and reduce the cost of governance. We also need a law that will peg our population. Nigerians, especially those in the North, cannot keep churning out kids they cannot cater for. As regards saying that this country is rich, we need to say things the way it is. Nigeria is not rich.

Av said it but it's the body language of the president that will put this into reality, Buhari or any Northern President WILL NEVER push for restructuring...I bliv Tinubu can do more, he started the idea of state funding the police with logistics infact he built several police station and gave them Hilux bus in each LG in Lagos state, he is the one that started the creation Local Council Development Area...LCDA and he is the one that started the idea of Primary health center across each Local Government. Most of these development started in Lagos State before most Governors copy this ideas. But his Government is chop I chop, Corruption will be on the rise infact it will be a child play in comparing to Buhari's regime.
