IN LINE WITH THE COURT JUDGEMENT OF TODAY, ORDERING THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE FEDERATION TO FORTHWITH DELETE SECTION 84(12) FROM THE ELECTORAL ACT:

The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice will accordingly give effect to the Court judgment in line with the dictates of the law and the spirit of the judgment.

The judgment of the Court will be recognized by the Government printers in printing the Electoral Act.

The Act will be gazetted factoring the effect of the judgment into consideration and deleting the constitutionally offensive provision accordingly.

The provision of Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act 2022 is not part of our law and will be so treated accordingly.

This is in line with the dictates of chapter 7, Part 4, Section 287 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) on enforcement of decisions that makes it a point of duty and obligation on all authorities and persons to have the judgment of the federal High Court, among others, to be enforced.

Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu
(Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice)
Friday 18th March, 2022.

Lolz, not even amend, it's an outright delete.
A lot of big names will be affected badly not just in the present but in the future if they don't delete that section.

Is this possible? how would lawmakers make a law, Malami now takes it to a court for amendment and now says he has implemented it, so what is now the use of the lawmakers in the first place...

Malami has turned to a lawmaker...

Malami and co are so quick to effect the judgement since its in their favor. Buh when same court asked him to declare northern bandits as terrorist, it took him months if not years before he effected it (after much pressure).

Earlier, they had requested Senate to remove that particular section from the electoral act, as senate refuse, e carry am go give him madam for abia state make she do justice for am which she did.

Shaperly, without even letting 5hrs pass after the judgement, e malami has already effected the changes.

Naija, growing up will take hundreds of years to achieve if not millons.

Cos eradicating this our corrupt minds isn’t something of 50 or 100yrs work. It takes a whole lot of time, hard work, energy and commitment to achieve it.

I pray we get there someday

true but it is a stupid law because it contradicts the constitution which specifically says 30 days. unless you change the constitution the law is illegal!! The constitution is the superior law of the country, you cannot pass any law that contradicts it.
