*How Azikiwe, an Ibo, deposed the grandfather of the new Olu Erejuwa III, who was re-instated by Awolowo, a Yoruba:*

The newly crowned Olu of Warri, Ogiame Erejuwa III, reversed the curse of his grandfather, the Ogiame Erejuwa II.

In 1963, Ogiame Erejuwa II, had taken the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Mid-West Government to court over the inclusion of Itsekiri in the newly created Mid-West region.

Ogiame Erejuwa II told the court that the Itsekiri Kingdom is part of the Yoruba nation and should have remained as part of the Western region and not included in the Mid-West region.

He argued emphatically that the Itsekiri people would like to be a part of the Western region and backed the Action Group led by Awolowo and rejected the NCNC led by Nnamdi Azikiwe who controlled the Mid-West.

Angrily, NCNC leader Nnamdi Azikiwe deposed Ogiame Erejuwa II and deported him to Ogbesse. The king then put a curse on all the Itsekiri who supported Ibo to bring the Itsekiri kingdom into disrepute. Okotie Eboh, an Itsekiri who supported the Ibo to depose the Itsekiri King would later be assassinated by the Ibo soldiers involved in the January 1966 military coup.

In 1966, Awolowo was set free by Yakubu Gowon and named the Federal Minister of Finance and the de facto Vice President of Nigeria. The first thing he did was to reinstate Ogiame Erejuwa II as the Olu of Warri. But Ogiame Erejuwa did not revoke the curse. His grandson, Ogiame Erejuwa III, has just removed the curse on the Itsekiri people.

The Itsekiri Kingdom is one of the twenty-six Yoruba tribes.

By 1963, Awolowo was languishing in Nigerian prison in Calabar. How did Awolowo reinstate a goon who took federal government to court 1963. Awolowo's political wings in national politics were clipped in 1962 when fellow Yoruba peeps did a political number on him. Any traditional ruler who chose to dabble in politics has always been hit hard politically.

A referendum was given to the Midwesterners to vote themselves out of the yoruba dominated western region, if itsekiri wanted to be in western region they could have voted to remain there,

Nnamdi Azikiwa was not the regional prime minister of Midwest Region he was the prime minister of only eastern Region, so where did he get the power and which Constitutional backing did Zik use to achieve what you accuse him of doing?

Plus awolowo was set free from calabar prison by ojukwu not Gowon , plus awolowo was just a minister of finance, nothing like president added to that position

Nothing was done without the Constitution during that Era that was why a referendum was given to the Midwesterners to vote themselves out of Western region, they themselves agitated for it, accusing yoruba's of marginalizing them, around the warri district during the referendum vote, 30 thousand voted Yes and only about 1 thousand voted no

I ask again what constitutional backing did Zik use to dethrone a traditional ruler? Which year was that ? which month?, which court,? who was the judge, we need all these information

The Itsekiri is the most useless set of people ever.

These people know they are originally from Ijebu and are the only people (other than the Fulani vermin) that are claiming ownership of the land they settled on citing a fraudulent bill of sale by one Urhobo wayo man.

This is the only thing they have to claim Warri even though the Urhobo wayo man that they claimed sold the land to them or allowed them to settle on it had no bearing towards granting anyone right of occupancy in any part of Warri especially the coastal fringes which were part of Ijaw land.

Very Interesting !

When IPOB said Alaafins Father was deposed by Awolowo for Supporting Azikiwe they didn’t mention that Olu of Warri was also deposed by Azikiwe for Supporting Awolowo

Neither did they Mention anything about how Bode Thomas Awolowo’s right hand man and Oyo indigene died 24 hours after Alaafin Cursed him

Before former Midwesterners open their mouth, they should do research about the person that raise the motion of Midwestern region. Yoruba have been fair to them.

They deposed a king for just disagreeing with an action he thought isn't in the interest of his people. He used LEGAL means of disagreeing.

They will be driven away just as their ancestors were chased out of Yemen and landed in present day Ogun.

The Itsekiri can not use a fraudulent land title gotten from an Urhobo yahoo boy to claim ownership of Warri.

It was only the referendum for the Midwest that was approved by prime minister tafawa balewa , and this referendum came to be cause the people of Benin-delta province were on it day and night not resting to make it happen, a proposals was only made by just individual suggestion for a state in eastern Region and another for the middle belt in the North, nobody worked hard to make it happen like people from Midwest did.
