Personally, I hate IKEA furnitures, it’s cheap and substandard.

IKEA substandard? As someone who has been using IKEA products for over 30 years, this is the first time I'm hearing that.

Haha...this baba self...
mapping is a way for companies and investors to gauge the viability of a given trade or investment. Market mapping can be used to analyse different volatility levels and different prices for individual assets, or it can be used to analyse entire company and its competitors....

They know about ajah furnitures...

Look at this picture....you will get it...you are smart

I understand you perfectly sir.

You don't want to commit huge resources into a market which is largely unregulated. Looking at the picture shared, Lasisi will tell me "Oga, let's use the same packaging as the one that people buy more on our product."

The next thing, you'll start seeing "Ikia Kitchen" or "Ikear Kitchen" or "Ike A Furnitures" or "Ike Anobi..." grin grin

You'll find a cheaper and more solid version on the street of Ajah.

@rotecch77 am I lying?

Lying? not at all, you are 101pec right , go anywhere in ajah axis you will find them many with good materials and finishings with lesser price.

You’re absolutely right, that is the unique thing about Nigerian market. They can’t even name it ikea, or ikedaa

Oga mi below is the sample of grid switch recently installed for a client in Lekki, We introduce it to him and he love it. We have all the sockets, Cooker control unit, cooker hood, AC and water heater connected to the grid switch, all the appliances have a central switching. Each knob have different rating from 10A, 20A and 45A

10A is controlling the lighting
20A controlling the AC, Water heater, Socket
45A for cooker unit.

Your kitchen equipment will determine the number of ways to be installed

The reason why we have 12 ways installed for this client is because:

1 knob for Light
5nos. of 13A socket connected
1no AC connected
1no Water heater connected
1no cooker unit connected
1no cooker hood connected

Total appliance connected is 10
The remaining 2 knob serves as spares

Wont say I understand all you write about or how u go about your work , but I know when I see somebody that Is proficient in his line , happy we concluded on akala , for now sha grin grin

I simply love the uniqueness and ease of assembly of their products.

They’ll be perfect for Nigeria in my opinion especially their kitchen cabinets, uniquely styled utensils and contemporary lighting devices.

Are there better products? Of course, but that doesn’t make iKea bad. An S class Mercedes Benz vehicle is not bad just because a Maybach is better.

Gentle reminder for those that are in cabling stage

Message from Nigerchin cable manufacturer.

With this historic forex rate almost everything is expected to rise in price.

Sometimes I wonder how an average Nigerians earning naira are able to build houses this era. It's still a constant for those building with hard currency though. Dollar go up, price of product go up, no wahala.

I’m on a spending spree to capitalize on this now. I’m even buying and storing electrical wires and plumbing hardware for my estate even though I’m not at those stages yet.

Absolutely , what anybody doing a project should be doing . Spoke with a sales person of cdk today , tiles are going up soon . Should visit the factory with my architect and conclude purchase next week . One less issue to worry about

It seems you don't think prices will drop if Naira is able to appreciate in few weeks or even month. I might have to buy wires too since I'll be needing them shortly.

The functionality to very specific problems is what does IKEA for my family. I followed your looking for the right solution to your bathroom. With IKEA, you will find the right sophisticated solution to that space easily.

Lady Ennine was crying that her furniture will not go through her door. Just visit IKEA.

From bathroom clocks to cooking utensils down to Swedish breakfast IKEA got you covered.

Here is the floor plan. The confusion is fitting both a tub and shower in the space.

This bathtub will work for you. My contact for it is no longer at Ikota Shopping Complex but I’ll feedback once I have valuable information

Meanwhile you can also get it at Grohe showroom on Glover road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Pls expect ikoyi price tag though.

________

I think your layout is ok. You just need a matching bath furnitures

I’m no economist but having money just sitting in the back with dismal interest rates is unappealing.

I’m simply betting that I’m save more by buying now rather that later versus interest,

Now, I only play with just a slice of my portfolio in Nigeria so I can take these gambles.

There are notable people on here that I watch and learn from. The day that Spyder880 showed his stock room full of supplies is when the light came on in my head. Wire doesn’t deteriorate, price goes up, I’ll use wires, so I buy even when I don’t need them. 1mm almost doubled in prices from when I got into Nigeria real estate game.

I was at Iwo road for tiles yesterday. I think I’ll use naija tiles in some of my bedrooms.

Of course is your experience and preference. But Haverty's and IKEA are in a different market segment.

Our Prime Minister Boris Johnson when he got into office, he met IKEA furnishings done by the former Prime Minister Theresa May. His then girl friend wasn't a fan of IKEA, so they cleared out the IKEA furnishings and replaced everything with John Lewis furnishings from borrowed funds. He got into trouble. Not only because he had to borrow funds from anonymous sources but also from those who swear by IKEA.

So yes. Some people can't do IKEA mostly because of the self assembly but not because IKEA is substandard. That's not my experience of over the years.

Nice one Sir, do you know I still have rolls of binding wires I bought for N5,200 still in my stock till today?
I still have some high quality cables bought for a third of what they are selling for in today's market, I can afford to charge lower on some jobs because I have old stock. That's better than any kind of savings.

Another benefit of a store like iKea in Nigeria is the dependent business that it’ll encourage.

Shipping and delivery: Companies will spring up that’ll deliver products to homes. Cost will be low since they’ll be able to carry more goods due to flat packaging.

Installation: One will be able to setup as an installer. I actually ran an outfit like this in Dallas for a while.

Concierge: Since what you ordered is EXACTLY what you’ll get (no ordering 36” and getting 31” nonsense) it makes it easier to have a 3rd party design, buy, deliver and assemble cabinets. No ambiguity. NONE.

Thanks for attending my TedTalk grin
