The point is that the 3% is greater than the 30%

Should they be getting exploration percentage in the first place? Why use money made in another region that's producing oil to pay for exploration percentage to community in the another region. Its just a case of people trying to outsmart others because they run the government

The 3% is actually bigger but why not reduce the 30% of the oil profit to 10% since you cannot afford to stop oil exploration in the north which is not even necessary in the first place because oil is not there no matter what and also make the host communities get up to 5 percent from from operating cost and give 1 percent to those oil pipeline passed through their communities?

It's 3% of exploration cost to the host communities and 30% of profit from sale of oil to the frontier basins.
Using his analogy, out of N100k made by Punch after publishing his article he gets N3k.
If the article gets turned into a movie and makes N100mil the movie director makes N30m while he makes nothing outside the N3k as owner of the story.
That's cheating

What concerns them with any percentage in the first place, didn't the oil explorers use their own money to explore for oil, so why using our oil money to go waste on a cursed barren land.

I'm telling you. Those SS reps are a big disgrace and disappointment. None of them deserve to ever be reelected again for supporting this nonsense bill. I'm suspecting they were heavy bribed to support the bill.

- The 30% exploration and 3% pipeline host favours various regions according to the discretion of presidents on oil exploration, so regional support across board may be minimal honestly.

Lol nice, you’re playing a fast one.
They would’ve argued it and be forced to read and understand why the senate representing their region probably voted against it.
Attributes of a typical southerner is; they have preconceptions of the northern intentions and misconceptions on any actions carried by out especially a northern counterpart, they believe a northerner can never make a decision in their best interests in as much as their own reps are the top dogs swindling them because there are a bit politically oriented. If southerners read more than they ignorantly wail, they would probably have a systematic approach to criticism of an action by the government.

Young Man, there is no point here, 30% for what, why are they getting 30%? What are they contributing to it?

Besides, in his statement, he said 30% will PROBABLY be less, that means it could be higher.

Now let me explain this in simple terms, if ShopRite says a TV is 70% off! Does that mean it's cheaper, NO! Because, they ShopRite in this case have the actual figure. A TV of 100k, with a 70% off! That means it's 30k, but when they just 70% off! Without telling us what the figure they are calculating with, then a 70% of of 5 million naira for a TV of 100k is day light robbery.

The Federal Government, in this case THE NORTH, know and have the exact figure, it's whatsoever they want it to be, whatever they declare as the figure stand. This is the most ridiculous, selfish, inconsiderate, wicked act I have ever seen. They tried looking for oil in the north with money running into billions of dollars (money gotten from the oil they have no idea where, if I might add), when they couldn't, they look for a way to take a lion share of what doesn't in anyway belongs to them even though without it they already have the lion share.

HOW THE HELL ARE WE HAVING THIS CONVERSATION! NO EXPLANATION REQUIRED, REMOVE THE BILL! AND DESTROY IT FOR MAXIMUM EFFECT!

How many rep do we have from SS? Mind you that the bill only needs simple majority to be passed, which they don't have. Secondly, 10% was proposed initially but hippopotamus Lawan and Lilliputian Gbajabiamila changed it after collecting bribe.

The South South deserves what is happening to them now. Honestly I can not waste my pity on them over this PIB, I am saying this because, even if they don't want to join biafra or oduduwa for agitation for their own republic, but their lawmakers are very quiet in the house. They don't speak out, and their youths are not even shouting and protesting. Not even on social media, you can hardly see them write, if at all they are scared of being killed in a physical display of protest. At least I saw Rep. Ndudim Elumelu walked out in disagreement with the bill, but all other SS rep members were their sitting down like idiots, while the Northern senators and representatives members were busy doing their underground work. For example now, the Igbos and the Yorubas are busy expressing their displeasure and asking for their self determination, but the SS/ND are just keeping quiet and making it look like other southern regions are joking. Anyway enjoy the northern leadership.

If someone comes to your house, sleep with your wife, marry all of your daughter, take your son as slave worker, and tells you he will pay you top dollar to use your land, money he got from your hardworking sons, and even tells you you will get a bigger share of the proceed from your farm!!!!

Re: PIA: When 3% Is Greater Than 30% by Flash360: 7:50am On Aug 29, 2021
Exactly.
Also the 3% is to be shared to the host communities to do whatever they want.
While the 30% is simply for exploration expenses and it's not to be shared to the communities. Meaning the 30% will be used to discover oil and gas deposit.

But tribalism wont let people read and comprehend. Also the govt should have done better in breaking down the bill in layman terms to sensitize the agitating regions before the issue escalates.

So I finally took my time to read and research fully on this pub bill to know what the controversies is all about.
Here's 2 thing causing controversy.

Frontier Exploration Fund: 30 per cent of NNPC Limited profit×
They are asking of 30% of the funds to NNPC limited profit which is about $15billion yearly to explore other basin where oil is being discovered. Chad, benue, Niger and zamfara basin.
If you ask me, I'll say it's too much.

Host communities to get 3% of NNPC profit for community develop
development

that's about $1.9 billion to be shared amongst communities annually..
That's small if you ask me.

Now the real controversies is that the presidency is proposing 30% Frontier Exploration while the national assembly us proposing 10%. Seems like the president won on this.

Also for host communities southern senators are proposing 5% while northern senators are proposing 3%.
Innitially the bill suggested a 2.5%.

You no Sabi research. You need to go back and redo the research or ask someone to help you.

Better still, read this article well, like three times again to understand.
