Seven men have seven wives. One man and 7 wives = 8. 8×7= 56. Seven men with seven wives each now is 56. For children For family one, a man and a wife= 7 children × 7 wives = 49 For 7 families now, 49×7= 343. Total Children + parents= 343+56 Ans is 399 people |

Given that the total family member of 1 man is 8 (wife + children), and there are 7 men in total; this means: One family will be (8 x 7) + 1 = 57 And by extension, 7 families will be: 57 x 7 = 399 In summary, the total number of people will be 399. |

uchman:Truth is that since it's just a riddle, if it's to be solved simply as that without analytical application, the answer can be 63. Thus: Men = 7 Wives = 7 Men + Wives = 7 + 7 = 14 Each man & wife = 7 children For all children 7×7=49 Total number of people Men + Wives + Children =7 + 7 + 47 = 63 people |

Men 7 Wives 7 Each man 7 children = 49 children Each woman 7 children = 49 children Total 49+49+14= 112. Key word -1. Each man and each wife not Each couple. 2. 7 men have 7 Wives not 7 men have 7 Wives Each. |

Haakeem:Each man has 7 wives each and each wife, 7 children. 7 children * 7 wives = 49 children of first man. 49 children * 7 wives = 343 total children of the 7 men. 343 + 49 (total number of wives for all men) = 392 children+wives 392 (children+wives) + 7 men = 399 population |

| Re: Harvard University Interview 90% Failed {picture}.... by Kevsmart88(m): 8:32am On Aug 31, 2021 |
SirMichael1:No bro. The question said 7 men have 7 Wives, not 7 wives each. There's a full stop after the wives before the next sentence. Or am I seeing something else? I think it's important we read and comprehend before doing the math. Correct me if I'm wrong with sound argument. |

7 men have 7 wives FULLSTOP that's one wife each I believe if we have something like "7 men have 7 wives each" i.e. each man have 7 wives making the total of men + wives = 14 Each man n each wife have 7 children each notice how they have separated the men with each man/wife i.e. each family have 7 children 1 family + 7 children = 9 people 7 families with 7 children each = 63 people |

The answer is 63 for me.. The question says 7 men have 7 wives... Each man and Each wife have 7 children... Meaning A man and A wife has 7 children... And there are 7 men and wives = 7*7 = 49 That's the number of children.... Whereas the number of men is 7 and number of women too is 7 = 14 14+49 = 63 |

Adolfhitler001:It says each man and each wife not Each couple. It is well detailed, each man and each wife have 7 children. |

The question is ambiguous. Whoever fails it is not wrong. It is the examiners that are wrong. 7 man have 7 wives? Is it each of them that has seven wives? Or is that that the 7 men have a total of 7 wives, a wife to each man? Each man and each wife.... This is also ambiguous, and does not solve the problem of the previous ambiguity. |

SirMichael1:yes 7 men have 7 wives just like 7 kids may have 7 guards protecting them, it's not each man that has 7 wives and yes each man and each wife not each couple have 7 children but the men must meet with women there to have a child, don't expect a man to get a child from a woman outside the given parameters therefore 7 men can get 7 children from not more than 7 women there which ever way you try to combine it and vise versa hence the birth of a child is entitled to maximum of 7 ( 7men/7women), a woman's child must be one of the men child also no. of children = 7 x 7children = 49. ( to say 7 x 14 means they may have partners outside the given question which makes no sense) no. of men in the given set = 7 no. of women(wives) in the given set = 7 total number of people = 49 + 7 + 7 = 63people |

Men = 7 Wives = 7 Each couple had 7 children = 7 × 7 = 49 So total number of people = 7 + 7 + 49 = 63. |
