What I so much hate about my job is that customers doesn't flow in during the day, compare to night.
They won't call me during the day but once it's night, they will want to kill me with so much calls. At times, I end up not meeting up with some clients.
Although the money is encouraging, I have to manage it like that..

I will start with mine, I'm a druggist.
Patient: I have this severe body pain and headache that won't let me do anything, please give me a good pain killer.

Me: (proceeds to get the "best" analgesic), you have to take this one tablet every 12 hours for 3 days.

Patient: how much is it?

Me: ₦1,000

Patient: Ah, why is it too expensive naa, just ordinary pain killer, please give me paracetamol.

Me: (speaking in my mind) why you no just walk in tell me say paracetamol you wan buy.

2nd scenario:

Patient: Pharm please I want the best antimalarial.

Me: This one is ₦1800

Patient: That's too expensive, give me the one of a lesser price.

Me (proceeds to bring another one)
This one is ₦1,600.

Patient: You don't have the one that the price is lesser than these two.

Me: (brings the cheapest) this one is "dozismartem", it's ₦250.

Patient: Are you sure this one will work, please give me that first one you said it's ₦1,800.

Me: (speaking to myself) What is the colour of your problem this morning?.

I also hate the fact that what I earn is not commensurate with the volume of books I read in school (I practically had no social life back in school and still don't have).

I hate working on Sundays and there are no public holidays because we are termed "essential workers".
Last but not all,

Patient: Please I want to buy "Beecham Ampiclox", two capsules.

Me: Please ma we don't "cut" Ampiclox, do you realise that Ampiclox is an antibiotic and you need to follow the full dosage regimen of one capsule every six hours for five days? that means you need two scahets of ten capsules each, to complete the regimen, this is to completely eradicate the bacteria and also avoid antibiotics resistance.

Patient: Two capsules are enough for me, that's how I take it, you just want to "sell more market", I for no even come here, if to say that chemist for my street don open.

Me: (by this time I'm already weak and have nothing more to say as she jejely goes to look for where they will cut two capsules for her)
And she will definitely see because we are in "competition" with Patent medicine dealers and because our healthcare system is so messed up that the profession is more regulated for the professionals than the quacks in the street, because people can actually buy prescription only medications without a proper prescription in Nigeria and because if you are a pharmacist waiting for a doctor's prescription before you can sell a drug in Nigeria, you go wait tire.
There are still more but let me stop here.

What do you hate about your job?

Too many female colleagues in my line of work. Put emotions in everything. Their loyalty to their boss, manners, rewarding or punishing those working under them is nothing near official..not a matter of 'right is right or wrong is wrong' but whether they like you or hate you. They'll like you if you turn them to a demigod and cover you up even if you commit a punishable offence. They'll work out your transfer to the Lions den for just not greeting them putting "ma" at the end of your greeting or for just being too upright. They gossip with other female colleagues whom they've never met in their entire life before except at work and turn the work place to a place to gossip private affairs and the flaws of other colleagues.

I sometimes don't blame gays and I sometimes wonder why God made women with such a limited mentality. Relating with them is like a trailer and bicycle claiming equality cus they both share the road as vehicles but obviously their capacity is nowhere close to each other.

I love negotiating with customers and I have the confidence that I would almost always come out with a win-win situation. And because I manage a set of customers, negotiation is not a one time thing.

I love to turn raw data into complex analysis of trends and give recommendations on the way forward. I love it even though it can be stressful and tedious.

I love when I do inductions, trainings and refresher courses.

I love when a customer has a complex issue or strigent delivery/project timeline and I deliver and ensure they are very satisfied.

I love participating/driving extracurricular company activities.

I like that work from home now (even though it is a scam ).

I love when I am part of the project team to formulate new processes or review existing ones.

I love that I have been lucky to have good immediate and a level higher bosses. And interestingly, all sans one has been female.

How can I forget? I LOVE that my job and work environment allows me to be assertive to customers (which is very key in negotiations) when required. That's actually one of the things our CEO promotes. Under no circumstance does a customer insult an employee without addressing it.

These ladies during handover they seem to intentional leave most pending works like billing and mailing for the dying minute so as to handover, lazy gender I call them and we earn same salary, their gossip no be here, at you own peril if you stoop so low to have a discuss with them absent thought of who might hear what you said about who. seems putting the needed effort to work is a crime for them. #SMH

But you are describing the average worker in the Nigerian workplace.

And I use 'Nigerian' because that is the only workplace I know.

It is your prejudice and negative bias towards women that is at play here.

Sure, each gender have negative traits mostly associated with them but to think gossiping, ass licking(receiving and giving) and been emotional is a woman's thing shows you are not been objective.

@emotions: it is a constantly propagated myth that women are 'emotional' and men 'logical'. Well, almost every human (male & female) are very emotional and do things because of emotions: anger, ego, insecurities, over excitement, happiness, feeling good etc.

I mostly relate with male customers at work (about 97%) and I can get them to agree to almost anything because I am a good negotiator. And I negotiate using people's emotions (OP, those are one of the things I like about my job anyways).

It is a well known fact that anyone whom you cater to his/her ego (emotions of pride, feeling better than others or on top), you will get them to do anything for you.

Tell me the gender again that you are told to 'massage' their ego to get what you want?

Yet, I will not say men are the 'emotional' gender because men & women display emotions in different ways.

There are very few people who think logically and even them use emotions to deliver the package at times.

Am a security personnel with 9years experience.
One of d thing I hate about my job is when am be posted to protect a VIP and the VIP, his wife and kids will want to turn you to house boy. Giving u orders that is outside ur primary duties. I remember one time i was posted 2 guard/escort a VIP with my team. The first two days no problem, on the third day the VIP was at home, we were outside and one of son came and order us 2 escort him 2 pick his girlfriend to birthday party and wait for him till his thru with the party. I explain 2 him we are not here to escort or guard u, this boy started abusing us and almost slap me. I beg him and told him we will escort him. Once he enter the car I took him to a very far police station where one my tight colleague work and detent him. I collect his phone. I left him here for two days. Na so dey find the guy for house tire. Me and my team just lock up. On third day i went to release, the guy was so humble and begging me 2 release him, i pity him. I confuse him so that he will not understand the name or road 2 d station he was detent. Once d guy back home go reported me 2 his father. I deny everything. I ask him to take us or provided d name of d police station where he was detent, the guy didn't know. His father was confused. After that, the guy gave me and my our respect till we leave there.

The bolded is a great and healthy workplace policy.

I hate that saying - the customer is king or the customer is always right, I hate it with every fiber of my being because it's just so wrong and inaccurate.
