DubaiLandLord:
Bandits have abducted students of a Secondary School in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Details of the incident are still sketchy but the armed men were said to have broken into the school on Wednesday morning.

A resident of the community told our correspondent that the armed men stormed the school around 11:30am when the students were writing examination.

“They blocked the doors to the classrooms and asked the students to step out.”

“Some of the students managed to escape the assault by jumping out of classrooms through the windows to hide inside nearby sorghum plantations,” the resident said.

The number of the students kidnapped can not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report but the abducted female students tend outnumber the male ones because the school is mixed.

The development comes a few days after some students abducted in the state regained freedom.

What if Nigeria begins prosecuting kidnappers, speeding the convicted through the system and executing them?

It won't be possible under GMB. Majority of this killers/kidnappers are Fulanis. They are called bandits in the North, while they are known as Fulani heardsmen in the South.

There might be no solution under this called GMB.

When an indigenous Christian community was attack in Plateau state, the President was busy drinking a very cold fura in Aso Rock and felt unconcerned. Once the indigenous people retaliated, by killing fulanis traveling in a bus, he lost the appetite to drink fura and even release a press statement condemning the attack.

Perhaps when the Gods love a people or sympathise with a cause they use particular individuals in order to set about the requisite changes that benefit the people or the cause; for example, George Floyd’s death to synthesize all of African Americas cries of racial injustice so long overlooked. Perhaps due to Buhari Nigerians will better understand the privilege and power of the vote.

Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has written a letter to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), requesting that the pardon given to repentant Boko Haram members be extended to 70 soldiers convicted for mutiny during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

Falana said this in a letter dated August 25, 2021 titled, ‘Request to Grant Pardon to 70 Convicted Soldiers’.

The activist recalled that in prosecuting the war on terror, the Federal Government deployed thousands of ill-equipped and ill-motivated members of the armed forces to the North-East region to fight the well armed insurgents from 2013 to 2014.

He said in the course of defending the country the troops demanded arms and armament from the military authorities but they were punished.

“Instead of attending to such legitimate demand, the military authorities accused scores of the soldiers of sabotaging the counter insurgency operations of the Federal Government and proceeded to set up courts-martial to try them for mutiny.

“We defended 58 soldiers while the remaining 12 were defended by other colleagues before the Courts-Martial which sat in Abuja. At the end of the trials in August and December 2014, the Courts-Martial jailed some of the soldiers and sentenced 70 others to death for mutiny,” Falana said.

He added that in convicting the 70 soldiers, the courts martial failed to appreciate that the demand for weapons by the soldiers was justified under section 179 of the Armed Forces Act, (Cap A20) Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 which permits a soldier, rating or aircraftman to make a complaint to his commanding officer and that he shall not be penalised for having made a complaint so far as the complaint does not contravene any provisions of the Act.

The senior advocate called on Buhari to grant full and unconditional pardon to the 70 convicted soldiers pursuant to section 175 of the constitution.

He recalled that even the then National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd); and the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, later admitted that the troops did not have enough weapons.

Falana noted that a probe instituted by Buhari revealed how over $2.1bn meant for weapons was diverted by the top military brass, evidence that indeed the 70 soldiers were justified in their demand for weapons.

The activist said the Court of Appeal had upheld the appeal of four out of the 70 convicts, discharged and acquitted them while the others who lost their appeal at the Court of Appeal had since taken the legal battle to the Supreme Court.

The letter further read, “Notwithstanding the pendency of the appeal at the apex court we urge Your Excellency to exercise your prerogative of mercy in favour of the entire 70 convicted soldiers.

“It is public knowledge that the Federal Government and some state governments have recently granted pardon and rehabilitated hundreds of terrorists who had waged war against Nigeria and subjected unarmed citizens to egregious human rights abuse.

“The soldiers who were convicted of mutiny for demanding for weapons to fight such terrorist deserve to be granted pardon and rehabilitated by the Federal Government.”

Adamawa resident, Debora Mbi, comments on photos shared on her Facebook wall by men who allegedly robbed her.

When Debora Mbi was robbed on her farm by some young men in 2020, she never thought she would come across her attackers ever again, let alone share her Facebook account with them.

But Mbi was shocked to find out that the same young men who “forcefully collected” her phone from her had been taking pictures of themselves with the phone and posting to her Facebook wall.

She was robbed in Yola by a group of young herdsmen while on her farm, but she did not report the account or change the password.

Mbi is a civil servant who is also into farming.

Friends of Mbi who saw the pictures had commented on the strange photos and had asked her the meaning of the posts, obviously believing she posted them herself.

Reacting to one of the pictures posted on her account, the Adamawa State resident said the posts were made by those who stole her phone.

“Don’t mind the idiots! They forcefully collected my phone last year and are not smart enough to open their own Facebook account. Though l think they are daring me. The Fulani man thinks he owns this country and can do anything,” she said.

In a photo shared by the men, one of the suspects was seen holding malt drink at a setting that looks like an eatery.

It tickles the ear to know along with new dedicated UAVs, new Special Mission Helicopters, 2 new Maritime Patrol Planes also 3 new commands are to be stood up for the Navy, a Coast Guard, Naval Aviation and a Special Warfare Command (Special Operations) in addition to Naval Infantry. With the proposed acquisition of Frigates and potential Sub-Marines most non-blue-water vessels would be seconded to the Coast Guard to stream line operations. I think even the Americans nay our African brothers will be jealous or proud. Abba Kyari Asked Me To Pay The Proceed Of Hotel Owned By Kidnap Kingpin Into My Bank Account — Police Lawyer

A lawyer attached to the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IGP-IRT), Nosa Uhumwangho, has explained how the embattled 'Super Cop', Abba Kyari, made him pay the proceed from a hotel owned by an alleged kidnap kingpin into his account.

Uhumwangho stated this while appearing before the Nigerian Bar Association Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) on Wednesday.

The lawyer said Kyari told him to pay the sum of N3, 075, 300, which was generated from De-English hotel, Enugu and another property at 21, Edinburgh Street, owned by late Collins Ezenwa also known as E-Money, an alleged kidnapper, into his (Uhumwangho's) bank.

Kyari, who was suspended from the Nigerian Police Force, is under investigation after an indictment by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) over his relationship with a popular fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly called Hushpuppi.

He has denied the allegations of corruption leveled against him.

But in a 131 paragraph affidavit on 30 June 2021, and submitted to the NBA’s LPDC, obtained by Sahara Reporters, Uhumwangho said Kyari had authorized him to pay the money into his Zenith Bank personal account for “reasons best known to them”.

The lawyer also stated in the affidavit that Kyari’s team had previously instructed Tochukwu Okeke, a notorious cult member to collect rents from properties owned by late Ezenwa on his behalf.

Okeke is currently being detained at the 82 Division of the Nigerian army over his alleged sponsorship of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra in the southeast.

Okeke, who refused to appear before the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) panel investigating the activities of SARS, had claimed that he paid $2 million ransom to late Ezenwa’s gang after he was kidnapped in 2016.

Uhumwangho was dragged to the NBA disciplinary committee by a lawyer and human rights activist, Justice Ijeoma, for “conduct unbecoming of a legal practitioner”.

In his petition to the NBA-LDPC, Ijeoma alleged that Uhumagho, acting in cahoots with other police officers attached to the Inspector General of Police –Intelligence Response Team (IGP-IRT), criminally converted the properties of his client.

Uhumagho, under cross-examination by Ijeoma’s lead counsel, Max Ogar, admitted paying the money into his personal account based on the directive of his boss, Abba Kyari.

In a letter dated 28 January 2019 obtained by Sahara Reporters, Abba Kyari wrote, “ The National Human Rights Commission of Nigeria (Presidential Panel on SARS Reforms) which sat in Abuja on 25th January, 2019, directed the Legal Officer of IGP-IRT to recover money in possession of any person controlling the aforesaid properties and make them render account.

“In view of the above-stated fact, you are hereby directed/ordered to recover any money therefrom and take possession and make sure it is properly kept and safe in your custody, because if paid into the Police account, it will be difficult to recover it and tender it before the court as the matter is still pending at the Honourable Federal High Court, Owerri Judicial Division. The court may make demand for it in the nearest future.

“Thank you for your patriotic zeal in serving the Nigeria Police Force and your motherland to the best of your ability and capability. Accept the assurance of my high esteem regard.”

However, sources from the NHRC panel, which sat between 14th and 26th January 2019, denied authorizing Kyari to collect any money on late Ezenwa’s property and pay into a private account.

In 2018, Amnesty International and National Human Rights Commission accused Kyari of illegally depleting assets of Collins Ezenwa who was illegally executed by SARS in Owerri, Imo State.

Collins Ezenwa’s wife told the NHRC panel that Kyari and his team withdrew money from her late husband’s bank account, seized his cars for their private use and pocketed millions in accommodation proceeds from his hotels and properties.

The Nigerian Human Rights Commission said in an October 2018 petition to the then Inspector-General, Ibrahim Idris, that the IRT, led by Abba Kyari, a deputy police commissioner, had depleted the asset of Collins Ezenwa, a suspected kidnapper who was gunned down in January 2018.

Kyari had said Ezenwa was a notorious kidnapper who had committed untold atrocities before he was killed.

The police in Imo State accused Ezenwa, a former police corporal, of leading a syndicate of deadly abductors. He was killed during an exchange of gunfire along the Enugu-Owerri Expressway.

Kyari and his team members were said to have taken over Ezenwa's properties worth billions of naira.

A hotel linked to Ezenwa in Enugu was estimated at N220,000,000. He also had two duplexes and eight blocks of flats worth a combined N180 million, according to the NHRC petition.

The victim, who was a police corporal before he resigned, also had a fleet of exotic vehicles. Other properties of Ezenwa have also been identified in Imo and Abia states, estimating his worth in billions.
