I think it time for Southern Nigeria to explore the possibility of replacing beef with Ostrich meat. Ostrich meat is re meat. It is healthier and richer than beef or any other red meat. It is even said that it is healthier than white meat.

And for the farmer, for the same input in terms of time, labour and capital, you get 6 to 10 times more output in Ostrich farming than cattle rearing. I have not tasted Ostrich meat but from what I read the taste is awesome.

Someone told me the labour input in Ostrich farming is much less and you still get 6 to 10 times more output in terms of quantity of meat produced (not counting the value of the leather and feathers).

Let Southerners explore this option. Let some big guys go into this animal husbandry and budget a substantial amount of money to promote the meat. Create public awareness of the benefits of the meat deploying scientific publications on the benefits of the meat

Illiteracy is a disease and that's how they think when in power thereby running the nation aground.

To them it looks like a threat but the empty brain never knew or heard of the word "Alternatives" of which there are so many. IDIOTS

And Lagos will not seek alternatives like encouraging full time ranching in their state to augment and will wait and suffer to buy cow meat for 2 million? Chai!. ... how do these people reason sef? Abeg make them try.

I will forever remain proud of my place for banning the selling and buying of cow meat in our various markets despite the pressure from our asslicking governor, we stood firm, fought them and drove them out of our farmlands. We have had peace of mind ever since then. We have even forgotten how cow meat taste, as we have successfully replaced that with chicken and goat meat.
This useless threat is not for us.

I grew up seeing fulani cattle rearers, very naive, quiet, friendly and peaceful people. They roam everywhere with their cattle and no one cared. They were a welcome guest throughout my community. This same people suddenly took peoples' hospitality and kindness as a right and started conceiving the wild idea of taking over peoples land through government backed subtle policies and terror. Right now the whole country is up against them and they are now negotiating for a softlanding and in some other places, forced to accept some stiff condition for them to be allowed to continue grazing the same places they had always been. This is self inflicted misfortunes that was fuelled by an unrealistic inordinate ambition. This is really a lesson everyone should ponder before taking benefactors for granted.

Eating cow meat is not a do or die affair. The lives of the people those Fulani herdsmen are taking is more than 2million naira each.

Our foolishness in the South turns us into the hands of these bastards. Red meat is never a good meat to consume. I wish the public is well sensitized about this. As an animal scientist, I can tell u that cattle harbour most of the lethal zoonotic diseases we've been coming across in today's world. Tuberculosis, anthrax and many more. There are other sources of animal protein that are cleaner, with low cholesterol and healthier.

Re: MACBAN: Cows Will Cost ₦2 Million Each If Lagos Anti-Open Passes Grazing Law by VEHINTOLAR: 9:10am On Sep 09, 2021
Mad people ! Who cares about your unhygienic red meat ? If you like you can say a head costs N10 million; Bleep you ! We know your real intention and that's land grabbing ! Anti grazing law has come to stay in all Yoruba land and there is nothing anybody can do to make us rescind that decision. And If you intend to cause trouble in our land because of this law, be rest assured that greater trouble awaits you !

Take your cows to your states and that's if you have any in Nigeria. We ain't savages here; we are guided by laws in all our dealings. We have better things to think about than to preoccupy our minds with any useless cow matters.

You cannot be running away from the Madinka people (your nemesis in Guinea) and think we will allow you to steal our land or forcefully take over it on the guise of cattle herding. E no go werk !

Ok MACBAN. So be it. It may just provide the impetus the previously lazy Southerners need to take animal husbandry seriously to begin aggressively increasing their Cattle and livestock farming.

After that you can embrace the markets of Togo, Chad, Niger Republic etal to sell your Cows.

Even forgetting the banditry your armed herdsmen are currently destroying Nigeria with, what is obvious is that change has come and we cannot go back to the awful status quo of Cows sharing roads with cars and pedestrian in the South.

For the North, it is time to "adapt or die". Time for your educated, elite, industrial, business and political class to be up and doing innovatively to rescue their own as Obafemi Awolowo and others did for the Yorubas.

A rebellion and revolution against Northern regression of Nigeria has begun thanks to Buhari. Nothing can stop it same way no force has been able to deny change in history.

I can't blame Miyetti Allah sha. Nigerians idolize these things too much, especially Southerners. You think herdsmen do not see the things we do with cows in the name of burial and weddings?

I can confirm to you that Nigerians were more interested in Cubana's 70 cows than other living things at that party. Party never complete if una never kill cow. The thing come be like ritual. The carton of chicken, turkey and other highly rated meat won't matter until una kill 100 cows for bragging rights.

I never thought a day will come that a Fulani man will beg for his livestocks to be left free to roam, he's too proud and arrogant to beg. There are vast lands in the north that these cows can graze on and nobody will blink an eye, lands very far from where people stay. There has always been an agenda for them to exploit the whole country and subdue. MACBEN saying a cow will cost 2 million if they are not allowed to roam around is a demonic lie which comes only from the north. Let's just look at it this way, these cows eat grasses which they don't pay for, they march through routes and don't pay transport infact everything these herders and their flocks enjoy is relatively free, they now see the cows very expensive undecided, the pain of sweating their ass out to isolate the cows and feed them is what they don't want. The south will definitely find another means to buy livestock products, but where will the fulanis sell their cows?, There would be surplus cow meats soon flooding markets in the north and hardly anyone to buy grin

See blackmail ooo as if cow meat gives life. The myopic entities don’t see how this open grazing ban will help create business opportunity/employment for law abiding Lagosians. A lot of people will happily go into the business of ranching and cow breeding/rearing.
