There is no excuse at all for them, just look at the sycophancy attitude of the imo state gov and ebonyi state gov. Look at all the south east leaders.... don't give excuses for them, they are stupid set of leaders.

Ordinary special status they cannot give Lagos, so it should keep its VAT. I hope we will restructure down to passing law for decongestion someday. Lagos is suffering overload.

Lagos is overpopulated. Drainage system at Lekki, Ajah, VI, Amuwo Odofin , Apapa and some other places collapsed. They have not been cleared for almost two years. Yet the Federal government is not doing anything about Lagos situation. From all over Nigeria and some countries in Africa, people enter Lagos daily and some are also leaving. Every infrastructure and amenities overstretched.

When it comes to population and highest number of Federal government employees, the north is number one. When it comes to taxes and revenue generation. They are none. When it comes to sharing the taxes and revenue generated from other states they want to be part of it.

Lagos needs to adopt a new Drainage System Completely

The State Government should request the that the Courts allow those doing Community Service Sentence to Clear, repair and Cover Drainages Systems regularly under supervision until everything is done.

Some minor Offences such as stealing Mobile phones or items less than £100,000 should be doing that instead of being given Custodial Sentences every body will gain

When they were passing sharia law in their various State they did not put on their thinking cap that it cannot work with this parasitic and feeding bottle federalism we operate in this country. Now the reality has come were d central will b unattractive so those who think is their birth right to rule will now have to think twice because without resources at your disposal it will b difficult to rule successful. It now show that economic power is more potent than political power without resources.

Wike made Perfect sense

You ( FG ) take 87% of my States resources, leave my State Seriously Polluted and my People Unhealthy and destitute and to add insult to Injury again out of the Paltry 13% Funds you gave to my People you want to take another 7.5 % of it as VAT just because I am trying to make things easier for my People by providing them with little infrastructure and Services

The small VAT raised from Business going on in my State you take almost all of it to Abuja again

Do you want to enslave us ?

Infact this move by rivers and Lagos is gradually exposing the system.

Where does states like Edo state, Delta state, Bayelsa state lies in this Vat debate?

They seem to be keeping quiet.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state is not talking.

Governor Obaseki of Edo state is not saying anything about the new vat development arising from the judgement in Rivers state.

Its such a shame that most state & governors have become so unproductive, always looking to the centre for funds

Why should an oil rich state like Bayelsa be "poor" having low IGR.. or a state like Abia one of Nigeria manufacturing hub...

See Benue the supposed foodbasket of the Nation... Even some of the northern states. Its a shame

Ogun should be doing over 100Bn IGR.

We keep focusing on "Buhari, Buhari".. and dont look at our state.

Even my state Edo ought to be doing close to 100Bn mark.

Dear Ibrahim Khaliel,
You’re just on the defensive and have failed to convince anyone with your lengthy write up.

The idea is:
Take for instance, we vat alcohol makers and sellers in the south, your region which classifies it as haram is eager to share the proceeds yeah?

Now let’s look at it this way;
Rivers collects all its vats and Wike decides to spend it, how does that concern you exactly ?

You complain that we always blame Buhari for everything including what the Governors and LG Chairmen ought to do innit?

With this new development, the next thing will be for citizens to start asking questions and holding their Governors accountable for a whole lotta things!

Everything is a process and that’s why it’s called Federalism.

It will even help the north to sit the heck up!
Any governor who cannot generate IGR should be kicked out and let the ones who can turn a desert into a paradise get in.

If the Fulanis refuse to sell cows and goats to the south, let the south eat fish and chicken,
Let them import special breed of cows and start cow colonies.

If the north refuse to sell tomatoes let the south find an alternative.

This is the only way NIGERIA can become a great nation.

Q.E.D

Ibkhaleel01:
Unjust hatred for people will consume you. We see the obvious in the very hilarious VAT battle that is happening. I just dey observe.
Many supported Governor Wike's decision to be collecting VAT because they say "the North contributes nothing and they want to be collecting". But if they know their facts they will understand that they are digging a hole for themselves. They will realize it is all of us that will suffer when States collect VAT.
First of all, after Lagos, the next place that contributes the highest VAT (20%) is the FCT which is in the North. Yes this is followed by Rivers at 6% but Kano is next with 5% and this is followed by Kaduna. So no, it is not as you have been misinformed. The only special case is Lagos. So your State will suffer. Even Lagos will suffer with much more people migrating there. When resources are shared among Federating Units, it is shallow to always think it is injustice. Give Lagos 100% of it's VAT, Mukaila from Sokoto, Chinedu from Aba and even Lasisi from Osun will all migrate there. So what is the point again?
Secondly, in the federal system, companies with less than 25 million were not VATable. You think you are doing Northerners but your company will become VATable once Wike's law is replicated in your State. Why do you think commercially massive States like Abia and Anambra do not top the list of VAT contributors? Because those boys in the market were not exactly VATable, wait until what you are blindly supporting takes effect. VAT will be collected like motor park tickets. Then you will see where hate has led you.
Third, people will most likely pay VAT twice across different states with different laws because Wike does not know what is input and output VAT and did not listen to Nojeem Olasubomi Yusuf and others who politely asked him about it.
Some have even termed Wike the leader of restructuring in Nigeria. A gullible people in search of heroes. Being used and misled by every opportunist. Stop allowing yourself to be used by politicians to settle their personal scores while they tell you they are fighting for your interest.
You need to first know what your interest is to know who is actually fighting for or against it
