I need an affordable car as my first car, and as a first time driver with cheap maintenance.
I'm looking at the Volvo s40 or something of the same price range. Not a corolla cos they're not appealing to me especially with the nearly unjustified price tag
Just wanted to run this by you experts first. cheesy
I'm in a similar situation but mine is I want to purchase a car for Uber. Was thinking of giving it out but people said don't, best I drive it myself, so I'm looking for an acceptable but cheap car that can quickly rake in breakeven of it's purchase cost. Was looking at a few Mazda 6 2006-2008 models at abt 1m - 1.3m. I really think it's better than buying that travesty of a corrolla at 2.3m (almost double). Wen I could even buy two Mazdas, give one out and drive the other.
What's the price range of the Volvo s40? And model year you're looking at?

I'm looking at anything around 05 to 06.
Yeah. I see the volvo s40 is getting popular for Uber in here. Lol
I'd like to hear more about the Mazda from experts here though.

There's no peace of mind anywhere without a good maintenance culture. A bad driver with a "good" car is lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed
NISSAN MURANO!!!

With a good maintenance culture, that car will turn a good driver into a bad, depressed and suicidal human.

Some cars are specially designed by devil,no matter how you take care of them.

In this case,YOU ARE WRONG.

Lol, don't even debate it. U mean to say all the Murano wey de enter Naija, none exceed 200k miles without an engine and transmission change? So people no de use Murano here and over there without issues? Lagosboy, there are some things you shouldn't even debate if you got no stats!

As stated earlier if u r a bad owner, the Murano you're lashing out at will outlast your Toyota if well maintained, period.

Hello Guys, please share your views on Toyota Yaris Vs Toyota echo. Which would you recommend based, and cost of maintenance and functionality.

And how much will either the Nigerian or foreign use cost. Thanks.

Simple Question for you:

How often do you still see NISSAN MURANO on the road?

They are basically the same product with different brand names.

Just pick the yaris nomeclature, its the current name for the subcompact car.

About the price, just budge 1.8 - 2.1 for clean used one.

Its a very fuel efficient small car,you are going to sure enjoy the ride.

Why you de single out Murano? To your question, Murano still de road and not just the old ones but new ones too! Tell me what's bad in Murano. Transmission right? Same transmission some Nissan Maxima 04/05 has without ish. At least I used to have a 3.5L Maxima with same transmission which was crazily reliable and I sold the car more than my purchase price with over 200k miles on it. So, tell me something else I haven't heard about Nissan's. If you like buy Toyota and have shitty maintenance, body go tell u.

You can even bring it on with Mazda and Honda and tell me Toyota's reliability over them. Una go just de mention Toyota like say they don't even have defects nor recall like other cars.

Hello gurus,

Has there been any review on Toyota matrix 2008 model? Loved the car but don't know anything about it. Is it specifically made for women or men? If there is on this thread, I would like some pointer on which range of number of the thread to check on (already searched but nothing came up)

Also, compared to Mazda cx 7 or pontiac vibe or torrent, which seems better? All 2008 model least.

It is not as if I am buying the car now but want to make up my mind specifically about which one I would go for when finally ready.

The Yaris is the pseudonym for Echo. The Echo was discontinued in 2005 and Yaris was introduced in 2006. Basically the same car with different model years apart.

I’d pick a 2007 Yaris hatchback.
The Yaris drives and handles better; obviously heavier while the Echo has better gas mileage.

Do you just go about Nairaland arguing blindly with people all in the bid to appear knowledgeable? You can’t tell the difference between a brand and a model; a very basic stuff. Yet, you’re arguing technically with drakeskull even when you don’t have the facts to buttress your claims.

Save your data and Google search “Brand vs Model”.

This will also help you from further appearing ignorant.

No need hiding under the guise of not wanting to argue because the issues doesn’t benefit you financially.
You clearly don’t know. When you’re corrected, eat the humble pie and take corrections.
I still maintain that you clearly don’t know the difference between a brand and a model.

Good day guys. Respect to the auto gurus & everyone making nice contributions. Pardon me for this question because I know it would've been probably asked before. I need an urgent response to this question pls:
I want to get a Nigerian used Toyota Camry (muscle). I need guidance on the best year model based on engine & gearbox reliability, easier maintenance & less problematic between the year 08 to 2012.
Your quick responses will be greatly appreciated.

I dont know about the 307 but if I am to choose between 206 and Almera I would pick the 206 because

1. The almera body falls apart easily the almera would look like scrap especially in areas with bad road and constant body touch like lagos.

2. Almera engine would eventually have cam and crankshaft sensor issues and would get you stranded if you dont know about it.

Apart from that both vehicles are solid, strong and have affordable parts and they dont experience China unforeseen part failure like toyota.

If you are bent on almera because of Japanese technology find Nissan Sentra instead its same as almera but well built than almera but since they use same engine learn about cam and crankshaft sensor.
