RiceProducers:

There are many mini but safe submarine designs that are now available.
Small submarines would be affordable and make the Gulf of Guinea very dangerous to an adversary. They would be very silent and can pop up to firing positions quickly and then hide.

True, but there are trade offs. Firstly there are certain fixed costs associated with subs like the Shore based Sub Support facility. Smth like Kings Bay Naval Sub Base in Georgia for the USN Tridents allowing for loading of stores, repair and maintenance under a roof allowing submerging and berthing away from nosy satellites. In typical American style its HUGE! A small (by US standards) town of 15 k spread out over 6500 ha. Expect the infrastructure to include facilities like several 50 T hydraulic hoists,

5 axis CNCs like this for precision repair and manufacture of extremely low tolerance parts and spares for the propulsion and/or weapons sytems.

Escape training tanks like this

https://youtu.be/QnFXS29ExrM

not to mention cold stores, armouries and health facilities from gyms to dentistries and hospitals. The large 5 axis CNC starts at 500 k$. All under roofs with the docking bay on the beach to allow berthing.

Minimum of 2 TRVs, Torpedo Recovery Vessels like the Indian Astravahini. I can't find a price but its MUCH smaller than a 300 ft OPV about the size of a Damen Stan around 130 ft. Such size vessels start at around 40 mn$ and you'd need at least 2.

L&T Defence midget submarine SOV400

The 44 m long, 490 ton displacement midget submarine will have an endurance of 21 days and be able to traverse submerged for 80 nm and cruise for 2000 nm at a speed of 4 knots.

Designed and developed in-house, the SOV 400 will be capable of carrying a crew of ten along with the ten more special operations troops. The submarine is positioned to provide smaller navies with constrained budgets an asymmetric capability. The vessel will be utilized to deploy and recover special forces while submerged for intelligences, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR) as well as sabotage, rescue and evacuation missions.

The vessel will carry two heavyweight torpedoes outside the pressure hull for shallow-water attacks. It will be able to dive to depths greater than 100 m and travel up to 2000 nautical miles(3704 km). SOV-400 can also be carried by conventional submarines to be deployed as per mission requirements.

The SoKors have the Dolgorae class.

175 tonnes (172 long tons) full load
Length 25 m (82 ft 0 in)
Beam 2.1 m (6 ft 11 in)
Speed 16 knots (30 km/h; 18 mph)
Complement 14
Sensors and
processing systems
STN Atlas hull-mounted sonar
Pilkington CK34 search periscope
Armament 2 × 406 mm (16 in) torpedo tubes
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolgorae-class_submarine

Imo,midget subs won't fit in financially or tactically. Spending a 100 mn $ minimum to carry a couple of SEALS and/or 3 or 4 torps within the Gulf of Guinea doesn't make sense. For a starter sub I'd go for the French Andrasta at 150 mn $ and 3 mn $ yearly op cost..
Type Submarine
Displacement 855 metric tonnes (Surfaced)
Length 48.8 m (160 ft 1 in)
Draught 6.5 m (21 ft 4 in)
Propulsion Single-screw[1] diesel-electric, with batteries and AIP.
Speed 15 knots (28 km/h) (submerged)
Range 3,000 nautical miles (5,600 km)
Endurance 5 days (submerged)
Test depth >200 meters
Complement 19 crew, plus 2 passengers and 6 divers
Armament
Six torpedo tubes, which can also fire anti-ship missiles.[2]
A3SM (Mistral SAM) mast option.
Notes Design concept only. No vessels yet ordered.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrasta-class_submarine

Learn sub ops and develop doctrines. After a decade scale up with 350 mn $ Kilos. In my rough estimate the cost of the ShBaSuSuFa and all equipment and buildings alone should be minimum 500 mn $.

An academic research from a lecturer in Usman Dan Fodio University on the whole banditry problem, how it started and how it is being sustained. This is just excerpts by daily news, I will be glad if anyone can share link to the full publication.

https://dailytrust.com/how-banditry-started-in-zamfara

The name of the publication is : I am a Bandit: A Decade of Research in Zamfara Bandit’s Den

Found a video on YouTube but the audio quality is very poor.

G-A-S-S-S-P-P!? I long suspected Fulani leaders involvement in extortion, cattle rustling and crime that morphed into BH.

The lecturer, however, blamed politicians for the rising profile of armed banditry in the state, saying the first attack in the state was made with motorcycles donated by politicians.

I UNDERSTAND the secessionist sympathies among certain Southerners though imo it's EXTREMELY misplaced.

Some members within the groups were notoriously associated with weapon suppliers. Alhaji Altine, Shehu Rekep in Zamfara and Musa Yellow Janbross in Kaduna used their international connections. Through their contacts across the Sahel, particularly Libya and Mali, they supply arms, which were ferried across the ever-increasing porous borders located in the northwest

These are the same MOFOS invading farms in the South!

How long will this ISHYT last!?

120 Bandit Gangs Operate With 60,000 AK47 Rifles In 6 Northern States – Study
The university don also said over 12,000 persons have lost their lives to banditry in Zamfara.....

This is how the "bases" being overrun looks like.
What defensive advantage does it provide? And when troops withdraw from these locations we call them cowards.

The gains of 2014\15 offensive and that of 2018 were all lost immediately the offensives stopped. During the offensives, the terrorists either move across the border to neighboring countries or temporarily return to civilian life only to organize themselves back once the offensive has lost its momentum. At some point in time. Gudzamala LGA was recaptured by the terrorists in 2018. Baga was also captured around that period. Unless the army can continue to be on offensive for years(the 7 division lacks the resources for this) or they are able and willing to man every cities, towns and villages, the terrorists will continue doing this.
Supercamp was designed to cut prevent the terrorists from having access to towns and cities for supplies and they've been largely successful and the terrorists haven't been able to expand since then, in fact, NA supercamps 15 and 18 are directly adjacent to their capital and they've never been able to overrun them. The only problem is that the army decided to switch to a full defensive mode. There should be constant aggressive patrols by highly mobile and protected unit from the supercamps to constantly harass the terrorists and keep degrading their capabilities. I have always advocated for the establishment of a mobile strike force to complement the Supercamp strategy. The 72 MSF should have expanded beyond what it was in 2014/15.
If at all they won't re-employ Barlow, they should at least make use of what they learnt from him while he was here.

Majority of the supercamps are also sited in South and Central Borno and Yobe states. There are only 6 in the northern parts of the state leaving many settlements open to attacks.

The recent increase in the frequency of attacks has been attributed to the NAF suspending air interdictions in favor of CAS which has given the terrorists enough space, time and resources to plan, launch and coordinate attacks.

Who here has operated with airforce ground forces/sf, how effective is their training in terms of tactics and how sound are they? Are the training realistic in enough to make them understand how easy you can get killed if you loose your nerves under fire and is this drilled in them, and in what scenarios are live bullets used during their drills? I ask this, because during contacts/ operations they seem to loose high number of personnel compared to the navy SBS, infact the SBS has a reputation of getting job done with minimal casualties, and I have seen a bit of their training, in SBS training you can easily get killed if you flinch, because you are given a task to accomplish under live fire, we are talking bullets hitting 2 fleets from you during training.

Their training are very different. Most of those we call airforce SF are in actual fact SOF trained particularly in base protection and well constructed air bases at that. A good example is the NAF panthers, they will definitely perform poorly outside of their area of specialization and training.

LOL, there is a reason reason the casualties of the army has been very low in cases like this, it's because they've learnt and know when to withdraw from poorly constructed bases that cannot be easily defended and could be easily recaptured.

You know absolutely nothing about the circumstances surrounding the attack yet you are already passing judgements. How many men were at the base when it was attacked, how many enemies attacked the base? You expect these men to be performing miracles and being victorious in every encounter no matter the odds against them? Abeg rest.

They have air force regiment, who function as basic infantry that handle base defense and other air force security functions , supposedly higher trained than regular infantry, then they have their air force Panthers, which is the SF. Both have been deployed.....both are claimed to have very high standards, but the level of casualties has made me curious, what is wrong ? What could be the solution, that's why I asked if anyone has worked with them before.

SBS cannot be compared to NAF panther, them no be mate.
And secondly you need to factor in the number of engagement NAF panther get every year. When you factor that in, you'll realize the casualty level is very very low.

If we want to be honest to ourselves must service Chiefs sef carry military facilities to their villages? It's already becoming a trend amongst our Military chiefs. As for the naval base issue I saw an advert on Channelstv sponsored by the Navy on the CNS annual conference, they clearly said highlights of the conference will be inauguration of a "Naval Base" by the state governor (Ganduje).... Whether na desert warfare kini it wasn't expressesly stated. If you create an atmosphere of half information, speculations and rumour mongering will blossom.
