Last month U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa Command Safety Team worked with members of the Nigerian Air Force HQ to share best practices and lessons learned in aviation safety. The team discussed topics such as aircrew records, operational risk management, safety reporting procedures, and aircrew emergency training. Two tragic accidents, one that resulted in the death of the Chief of Army Staff General Ibrahim Attahiru, served as the catalyst for conducting the training. Since these tragedies, the Chief of Air Staff, a trained safety investigator, has taken several steps to increase aviation safety throughout the Nigerian Air Force. We commended the professionalism and hard work of the Nigerian Air Force throughout the visit. The U.S. and Nigeria have an opportunity to deepen their strong relationship through the culture of flight safety, which is common to all aviators.

jpphilips:So what was the rationale for taking a Naval base to his home state that is the crux of my query, Buratai took a university to his village despite the insecurity in Borno, AVM Sadique built a NAF hospital in his home state, Ihejirika did something similar, now the current CNS despite the fact that their is a similar training base in Kaduna by the same service, tomorrow Amao and current COAS may toe same path & in your mind we shouldn't ask about the reason behind those choices whether it is strategic or purely emotional. Tomorrow someone will wake up and decide to build a military facility in Niger republic & we all he expected not to ask for explanations; even the US and the UK that have the best navies in the world have their Naval bases in their Continental shelves. Ethiopia used to have a navy but had to shut down that arm of service when Eritrea broke out of the country. Classical zombiesm is a common strain amongst you govt lackies, at your age you are getting stupider with each passing day, the stupider you get the more emotionally unstable you become. Odunayaw: Those defending bases like this are very reselient. 2m tall hesco filled with sand will stop many of the nonsense happening to NA bases. Forget hesco sef, sacks filled with sands and arranged in pallets will save lots of lives. All I need to cause panic and loss of cohesion in such bases are long range weapons that will allow me hit the camps and put me out of range of most of their riffles. Surround such a base from multiple sides and you will just be laughing at what you would achieve. 4 Likes

Hundreds of prisoners have escaped from the medium federal correctional centre in Kabba, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State. Vanguard gathered that Gunmen in their tens attack the prison centre which is on the Kabba – LOKOJA highway, on Sunday night through Monday morning, killing the military men keeping guide on the road before attacking the centre. The gunmen thereafter launched attack on the prison officers before making ways to set all the prisoners free.j An early morning downpour on Monday according to Punch led to their escape. The building housing the inmates was reportedly submerged by flood. However, about 100 of the inmates have been rearrested, while unspecified number voluntarily returned. Another thing vexing me about the military is their defensive posture. They are the reason why they are overstretched. Where they are supposed to launch an offensive against the enemy for a few weeks and neutralize all threats and return to their base, they prefer to set up these stupid camps. The camps and FOBs while reasonable in the northeast because of the territorial ambition of the terrorists isn't reasonable in the northwest because those ones just want to attack and leave. Even for those in the northeast, it will end up being disastrous if they are not supported by assault teams that will be constantly be on offensive. 3 Likes |

ugo4u:I don't even see a need for the Nigerian Navy to have a massive infantry unit for now. For money reason, them suppose leave all this infantry unit for now and make dem concentrate on Naval Warfare alone. The Army should be left alone to fully take charge of everything that has to do with land warfare. 6 Likes |

DubaiLandLord1:It's only in Nigeria you will build an Oil refinery thousands of Kms away from where the crude is drilled and now spend billions to build/maintain pipes to connect the refinery as against building that facility where it will be easier & cost effective to access the crude. All in the name of federal character or sentiments purely to appease or massage the ego of whoever is in charge, and we're wondering why things don't seem to work here. 7 Likes |

ugo4u: Not only in Nigeria. India has best and largest Refineries. They don't have oil and have to import it. The entire industry of putting crude oil inside tankers is based on refineries being far from crude oil production areas. Refineries can be closer to the downstream markets. Let's stop posting stuff out of ignorance just to show that we are 'better' than our own country which is often idiotic 8 Likes |

RiceProducers:You're the ignorant person here, and arrogant at your ignorance. Going by your logic one can build groundnut pyramids in Akwa Ibom and spend millions transporting same product from Kano to A.Ibom on bad roads to maintain the pyramids as against building those pyramids in Kano where it's easier to plan for the logistics. You people don't ask questions why private investors don't operate that way only the government. You're a "Rice producer" indeed. Ichabod 11 Likes

Does the Navy require a Desert warfare training experience, Yes or NO, if yes, why does it matter its location? will it cost more in Kano & less in Rivers state? why is the location important to you, is my question, joblessness? 4 Likes |

Whyem15: Don't criticize what you dont understand, FOB's are Quick response forces, you can easily call for reinforcement, intervention strike, re-supply or rescue from say 20 miles than you would from 200 miles, landmass is huge, time is of the essence, you need to get there as fast as you can, 2 Likes |

ugo4u: You are the ignorant person on this India subject, there is a huge difference between "Proven reserves" & "production output". read about them before your next response India produces around 1m bbls daily while consuming over 4m bbls daily, there is a huge 3m bbls shortfall yet they own the biggest refinery in the world, that is the point, going by your Kogi logic, India would have bothered about their production deficit instead of building the Jamnagar. 5 Likes |

ugo4u: Sincerely, I don't know the Nigeria you are referring to bros. There is refinery in Porthacourt and there is a refinery in Delta. We also a new one coming up in Akwa Ibom and Lagos state. Only Kaduna state have refinery without crude oil. Quick Note: 1)Kaduna refinery is serving the entire northern Nigeria market 2) if you don't build pipelines to carry crude you will still building pipelines to carry different refined product to the market where the product is need. 3) refinery in Lagos was built with that capacity to serve the entire West African market. 4) refinery in Akwa Ibom will serve mostly Central Africa and it's also privately owned. Except you are saying you have more sense than the individual building those refineries. 6 Likes 1 Share |
