You are spot on. you forgot to add those who get lucky. Lucky to either marry into millions or win the lottery or have one rich man leave you a will.. Me I stilll dey there and for me the stability is better. Smeone was telling me ' bros why you no dey post pictures for facebook make we see as you dey flex' I just shook my head. The things we call enjoyment is just basic stuff
that portion of the lucky people is just too negligible to even consider lol. oh you are still there ? hehe. Yeah we are all built different as in me i dont see stability there. there all i see is prison. in chicago i still owe thousnds of dollars in parking tickets and in england one time i bought a car, the same day i bought the car i had not had time to buy road tax on the car, i parked it on the street hoping the next day i will go and do the road tax. oh boy when i wake up the car had been clamped. they left there number for me to call. i called they said i parked my car on the street without road tax. they said i have 2 days to pay it or they will come and tow the car and crush it in their depot if it is a car older than 10 years. to release the clamp from my car i paid 200 pounds ( 140,000 naira ).
whats my point ? i see prison there. everything is so regimented. there are no freedoms. BUT TO EACH HIS OWN. i feel more free in naija. i remember in chiccago i used to get 50 dollar tickets almost everyday. cameras everywhere. just doing a right turn when the red light is on while it is legal but you must first stop before doing the right turn. if you do not stop and you do the right turn ? thats 50 dollar tickets. so they have all kinds of tickets for minor technicalities like that. at any single month i am in traffic court fighting over 20 tickets. there is no freedom in these western countries. in naija i dont have to deal with these types of restrictions and prison like conditions cheesy cheesy

its not so bad if youu have the money move to a sane part of the country. away from people. the country is great, its the people in it that make it bad. things are cheaper, you can save, the weather is great, the food is great, what you pay for rent in a year over here you pay for just one month over there. THE KEY TO ENJOYING NIGERIA IS TO STAY FAR AWAY FROM STUPID PEOPLE AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE SET UP IN A WAY TO WHERE YOU EARN YOUR MONEY ONLINE SO YOU DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH NIGERIANS AND THEIR POWER DOMINEERING ATTITUDE AT WORK. BUT LET ME TELL YOU ? YOUR GREATEST REGRET WILL BE TRYING TO RETURN ABROAD AFTER YOU HAVE RELOCATED TO NIGERIA. I am speaking from experience and i am taking steps to put mysef in the position i have described, which is stay away from most stupid nigerians ( get a location where not too many people are. i am eyeing epe at the moment ) and create an income online.
This is it...You nailed it bro

What your Ghanaian friend did is something I wish I had known earlier or younger me had done sooner (i.e. the aggressive saving then investing, towards an early retirement) Too bad I don't earn in foreign currency like him, the naira go slow runs for me.

What the oyinbo man did, is a realization I came to last year when Covid happened and we were in lockdown. I realized (Klass) you can retire early and not continue this rat race, I realized this work and quench mentality or work till retirement age, doesn't have to be your story or reality.

My husband has been drumming it in my ears that he will retire at 50. I recently started thinking that way.

Honestly, it makes sense. Cos it will make you start saving and investing.

I wish I can like this post a million times, I had to log in to respond. People just come online to spew misinformation, how can you save 100k/Y when your earnings as a caregiver is an average of 30/40k a year?

All western countries are built on capitalism, only those that have highly sought after skills like the op above mentioned earn well.
right ? lmao. its all these misinformation that make people risk their lives through libya desert thinking they are running to heaven. then when they see the reality, depression sets in grin

I won't bother arguing with someone who doesn't know that the correct term is "abroad" and not "in the abroad" because it's obvious you've never stepped a toe outside of Nigeria and have no idea what you're talking about.

Gbam!!! @bolded! This is a pet peeve of mine!
But they all say it including people abroad. You'd start even thinking to yourself it could be correct!

HOw often does someone just plant drugs in your business. THis is Nigeria where one general or politician can ask you to vacate your premises because he wants to and you cant do a thing. In places like abuja taxes is the new name for extortion. It's not about having cash. IS how far your cash can take you. What is the quality of living. Those guys on youtube wont tell you the flip side and the struggles they go through to survive. No one ever tells you the truth just feel good stories. Many many diasporans have been fooled by these stories and have been burnt badly. Even Dangote is cashing out and set to leave. the likes of Otedola have the bulk of their wealth and businesses outside the country. NO one thrives in instability.
You want to compare yourself with Chinese (LMAO). Those Chinese are treated better than the average Niggerian. They are the first class citizens and your country ( everyone from top to bottom) makes sure they are protected from anything that will hurt them or their businesses.
ALL i CAN SAY IS THIS, YOU SHOULD BE YOUR NUMBER ONE FAN!

lol brother I can break it down like that because I have lived in the abroad too plus i know many nigerian women who do that actual job and i know most of them are paid 15 dollars an hour. i was even being generous when i put the 20 dollars there. That whole abroad is utopia nonsense that these nigerians peddle is just a mirage. There are only 3 groups of nigerians enjoying abroad and anyone who does not fall within that group is suffering. thats just facts. and these 3 groups of people only constiture about 4 percent of the diaspora or even less than 4 percent meaning 96 percent are struggling. The 3 groups are

1- Nigerian children who live abroad and stay with their parents. they dont know the struggles, mummy and daddy is the one struggling. so being a child living in your parents house abroad is the ultimate enjoyment

2-Medical doctors. If you are a medical doctor in the abroad enjoyment is your middle name. Although they will kill you with CALLS meaning every other week you are expected to sleep in the hospital premises overnight and do night duty. its veryy stressful as you get older. its like doing nightshift for like 2 days straight. but the money is extremely good

3-IT GURUS. and not just any run of the mill IT guy but i mean like an IT guy who can code in almost 10 languages both frontend and backend and can handle database administration etc. JUST A TOP IT EGGHEAD. like a genius level type IT intellect. you will enjoy tire. they will even pay you 500 dollars an hour if you are that much of an IT GENIUS. and i repeat not just any regular run of the mill guy we have in nigeria who can code but not that great at it. i mean someone who they can explain a project to you and you can bang out the program for it in less than a week with no bugs cheesy cheesy cheesy

These are the only 3 groups of people enjoying the abroad . everybody else ? the struggle continues. bills bils bils racism racism racism

Software testers, project managers, business analysts are also killing it .

Abroad is all about investing early whether you are rich or middle class .

Get that good credit for leverage and be extremely frugal.

With consistency you'll wake up one day and realise how far you come.

I have a mixed feeling on my relocation to Nigeria after living in Europe for about 10 years working as an engineer but paying so much in taxes (over 50%). It was also very difficult to save any money from what is left after tax, due to very high housing and living cost. You end up living from hand to mouth because of the numerous bills you have to pay..

I got a job in Nigeria to do thesame type of job I was doing in Europe before relocating, so this made my decision easier.

Regrets: Concerned about the insecurity and the fact that nothing works here. I hope to retire in Nigeria in 20 yrs time and hope there would still be a country then.

Consolation: I save alot of money working here in Nigeria than I did in Europe. Things are so much cheaper here despite the inflation problem.

I made the move mostly because of retirement plans.

If you have any job opportunities I am interested

I salute you all who live overseas for your courage because I cannot do that. Even if you pay me to live in the US or Europe, I'll never do that. And that's not because I have money but because I understand what it means to live there. Unless you have a lot of money overseas, you'll never be as happy as an average person in the street of Africa. For me..... it's about being happy.

And for anybody nursing the idea of returning home, I'll say again as someone said earlier, whatever you do wait until Buhari leaves office, otherwise you'll certainly regret returning to Nigeria.

The current people in government have no business being in governance. This government is so inept that they're courting the former president, Goodluck Jonathan (whom they accused of ineptitude) to join their political party so that they'll give him the presidential ticket in the coming 2023 election.

Before you return, note that price of goods are changing everyday. Within the last two months, the price of cooking gas has gone from N1,000 to N1,500 to N2,000 and still changing. Nobody knows the price next month.

This year alone, the Naira has fluctuated from N390/$ to N410/$ to N430/$ to N450/$ to N470/$ to N480/$ to N500/$ to N520/$ to N440/$ and now N550/$. Nobody knows the price tomorrow or even this evening.

Another advise I have for you all is never wait to return home before jumping into a business. Never jump into a business you know nothing about just because you have money, unless it's a little money for experimentation, a kind of trial and if everything goes fine, then invest. On that note, I'll advise you to begin from where you're. Right where you live, you can already begin trying out stuffs to see how it would pan out. Example; someone in the US or UK contacted my junior brother to make him a website for admission into universities over there. It seems he's working with universities over there to channel his prospects to them at a fee. This is just one idea and there are many similar things you can engage in while you're still there. I think the easiest side hustle anyone can engage is find a problem people back home would more likely pay for to get done where you're. If anybody is interested in setting up such side hustle and you have $1,000 to invest, I'll bring a business idea that would make money.

Note: I am not interested in your money, rather I want to see whether I can help. Also my phones and laptop are being monitored by the CIA, MI6 and their dumb African slave agents for the type of articles I write on my blog cause they believe I am revealing too much that they want kept secret for their continued exploitation of African people. If you enroll in my PREDATORLOGY course, the type of idea I'll give you would be one to legitimately exploit white people. But the problem is that it's big business that we can't afford.

The other thing that I suggest Africans do is talk to oyinbo who have left their own countries, often for good, to get an understanding of what life is really like there. I feel as if a lot of Africans make unfathomable assumptions about what daily life is truly like for the average person in many of these western nations. If you go to Thailand or Dubai you will meet countless westerners who have left their home countries with no intention of ever returning. Speak to them, you might learn something.

I haven't even boarded a plane before but then I'd love to read other people's comments...
nothing much.. one day you will board a plane and you will see it as normal except you want to act like you a big girl.
The western countries is good. You can survive, no matter your status but you will see some challenges as people might see you as African which is usually negative. Even when you find love, that western man can insight things relating to your "Africaness" which can be negative but it might be a joke.
At work, it is the Same. They will make fun of your Africa but if you are well knowledge about history, geography and people, you can say things to make them feel down if they try to laugh at you.

For example: some Hispanics friends make fun about Africans and Africa. I sat one of them down when he made the biggest mistake by acknowledging he was of Spanish descent. I stood up in front of the crowd and said"why do Mexicans like to acknowledge they are of Spanish blood but you condemn your root"?

Why is it that I hear things like "Mexican white", "moreno", "caramel" "tan" "brown " etc.. it means you all are not proud of your skin colour..

You want to cover your skin with long sleeves in the sun so you don't turn black but in truth, you have the black in you but you want to act white..

I said, you need to decolonize your mindset so that the world can begin to respect you.

I said more which I cannot write here but the white Americans, black Americans were shocked knowing I spoke the truth and they all laughed at the Mexican Americans..

Living in the west is cool and it has its challenges but you must talk smart, act smart so that they do not talk bad about you ..
