According to FIFA, a player is recognised by his personal achievement and not team/club achievement therefore Kanu is the greatest Nigerian footballer ever by virtue of winning African footballer of the year twice followed by Okocha who also achieved an individual accolade of winning EPL player of the month.
Mikel doesn't come close to top 10 despite winning those trophies while at Chelsea, he wasn't recognised for any individual achievement, there were seasons Messi won player of the year and Ballon d'Or without winning trophy but due to his individual efforts.

Kanu is my role model. He is my favourite sports personality. I respect Kanu a lot for his heart of gold. He is humane and that wows me more than anything.
