Faroe Islands government has said they will review the country's dolphin hunt policies after photos and videos of nearly 1,500 dolphins being slaughtered on Sunday sparked global outrage since the incident. The massacre is believed to be the largest single hunt of cetaceans—a group comprising whales, dolphins and porpoises—ever recorded worldwide.
The hunt, known locally as the "grindadráp," (often referred to as an opportunistic and non-commercial hunt) saw whalers target a massive pod of white-sided dolphins, herding the animals into Danish waters where they were cornered and stabbed to death. Under Faroese law, the hunt—a long-lasting tradition in the region—is deemed legal, although many dispute the practice as unsustainable slaughter and unnecessary suffering.

A total of 1,428 dolphins were killed in just over one hour in an event many on social media have since condemned as cruel, archaic and barbaric. The graphic images have sparked anger directed towards Faroese and Danish authorities, who are under pressure to end the practice.

It has an ecological benefit. If outrage should take place, the people should aim it at Japanese ships which kill and abandon whale carcasses to maximize their fish harvests. This slaughter creates whale meat for human and pet consumption.

Hundreds of thousands of humans are dying daily in the hands of terrorists and so called bandits but it doesn't spark this much outrage.

It helps the ecology of the island, if they stop the tradition, the dolphins would be so much during migration that some would drown anyways.

1,400 Dolphins Were Killed in Faroe Islands. Even Hunting Supporters Were Upset.
Graphic images of the animals raised ire among activists, and some locals said the killings undermined the work of whale hunters who follow a centuries-old tradition that helps feed local people.

The custom of whale and dolphin hunting, known as grindadrap, is a centuries-old practice in the Faroe Islands and a key part of many locals’ diet. And many Faroese point to regulations — including rules around the killing of mammals — aimed at making the practice sustainable as a reason to keep the tradition alive.

But when more than 1,400 white-sided dolphins were killed there last weekend — the largest ever recorded such catch in the area — and when the local news media published graphic images and video showing the beached dolphins being dragged up in bloody waters, even some supporters of the hunts were upset.

Now, the scale of the slaughter, which took place on Sunday near Skalabotnur, the islands’ longest fjord, has prompted outrage from animal rights campaigners and caused divisions among those who believe dolphins should not be hunted and those who say they are still acting sustainably.

“Considering the times we are in, with a global pandemic and the world coming to a halt, it’s absolutely appalling to see an attack on nature of this scale in the Faroe Islands,” Alex Cornelissen, the chief executive of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, an organization that works to stop whale hunting, said in a statement.

What exactly do you want the world to do?

Do you want them to invade Nigeria and kill all the bandits for you or take over the bandit sympathising government?

Nigerians are allowing bandits to kill them because of politics, the people who are supposed to be against bandits the most won't say anything aside from chanting Sai Barber while their communities burn.

When they are tired they will know what to do.

Why kill Dolphins that help humans?. Dolphins reason like humans. Killing them is like killing humans living in water.

The country should be sanctioned severely. This is a gruesome atrocity

That's what happens when you are civilized. Unlike in Africa where we are numb to pain and suffering due to being inundated by it daily.
