I know I am wasting my time with regards convincing you but since I have a bit of spare time I'll say my bit in brief.

Walker took out the striker before he touched the ball. At the point of the third pic walker had still not touched the ball and the striker was already taken out. Won't say more on the matter.

Michael Owen on Goal Rush (for those who said the pundits all said penalty.

“He obviously got advised to go and have another look just to make sure on the monitor and he actually changed his mind. I must admit, I think changing his mind is probably the right decision on balance,” Premier League legend Michael Owen said on Goal Rush on Optus Sport

Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher agreed: “I think Jon Moss has got a different angle to what we’ve seen in the replays there. He has seen it straight down the barrel, he’s looking through it, he thinks Kyle Walker has pulled him down. He thinks he’s tripped him, he can’t see the ball.

When the VAR looks at this angle (from front on) you see it is a totally different incident. It is almost as if Armstrong is reaching for the ball and he actually goes into the back of Kyle Walker’s leg himself

Walker got in front of Armstrong to stop him. It is called defending. Getting in front without touching the player. Armstrong lounged for the ball and hit Walker's leg in front of him. No knee contact. Walker did not take him down. So how can that be a penalty to you?

Look at Walker's calf banging the Armstrong’s knee.

Armstrong was bringing his foot forward to shoot and Walker hits his knee down causing him to miss the ball and fall over. If Walker doesn’t hit the knee then the player gets the shot away. Maybe Walker could have blocked it but it doesn’t matter if he fouls him before.

That angle is deceiving you. Walker did not touch his knee in any way. No contact was made by then.

Walker did not foul him. Armstrong lounged into Walker in an attempt to get the ball he had lost.

That's because Uyo has the best stadium in Nigeria outside of Abuja and has also been the home of the Super Eagles when the stadia at Lagos and Abuja were bad.

Calabar was also at one time the home of the super eagles after we left Abuja...

Uyo stadium wasn't yet built then.

Senior man, walker did not go for the ball but oobstructed armstrong's path, that's a penalty.

It wouldn’t have happened if Walker ran full step, used his left foot to kick it away to his left but decided to half step and used his right foot instead..

Whether or not it's a pen initially, you can't then overturn it because either way it's not a clear and obvious mistake... on-field decision should've been upheld, I'm baffled it wasn't..

Obstructing a player's path is never a foul. It is called defending. As long as you are not making direct contact with the player. Armstrong lunged for the ball without any contact from Walker. Walker did not foul Armstrong in any way. It was Armstrong who made the contact. Not the other way around.

How can onfield decision be held when it is clear that Armstrong made a lunge before he made a contact with Walker. Whether Walker was in his way or not is not the decision. Did Walker make any contact to foul Armstrong? No. When a contact was made, who was the active player, Armstrong. So why should it be a penalty when Armstrong made a lunge and made a contact with Walker.

Give it to Walker. That was brilliant defending.

You cannot blow a penalty in that case when Walker made no contact with Armstrong to foul him. It was Armstrong who contacted Walker with his lunge.

When the referee (John Moss) went to the screen, what he looked at is simple. Did Walker foul Armstrong? Any hint of a foul on Armstrong is a penalty. Looking at the replay from the angle given to him, he looked at Armstrong falling down. Was he fouled to go down? No. The contact made was Armstrong going down after a lunge for the ball he made.

So no penalty in anyway.

Not onfield decision or not onfield. Did Walker foul Armstrong? No. So no penalty.

Walker just stretches over him and impedes him when he can shoot.

Doesn't play the ball, just impedes his man after getting caught out.

If your legs wraps around a player and you don't even touch the ball or get it under control, it has to be a foul.

I thought they were only overturning penalties if there is demonstrable evidence of no substantial contact? There is a pretty obvious hip barge by Walker here. But hey what do you expect? City had several QUESTIONABLE decisions go their way last season including that ridiculous offside goal against Villa.

Whatever the result it is never a red..

Get the simple point. Walker did not touch him. So how do you give a penalty when Walker did not make a contact on Armstrong?

WALKER DID NOT TOUCH ARMSTRONG UNTIL ARMSTRONG TOOK WALKER OUT FROM BEHIND.

Penalties are not about what you did. It is about whether you fouled the player. If you like wrap your hands around the player. If you don't touch the player, no one will give a penalty.

There was no hip barge if you look at the angle from the front. That is what they showed the ref. He watched for Walker making a contact and Walker made no contact before Armstrong went down. So it can not be a penalty.

A player through on goal in the box, walker makes clear contact with the player and gets nothing of the ball and you are insisting it wasnt a pen? Bros easy na. grin grin

Watch the clip again bros . Armstrong clearly doesn't start going down until Walker comes across with a thigh into his hip. The first couple times that I watched it I thought that a no-call was okay, but seeing the thigh to hip makes it pretty clear that Walker impeded his attempt to play the ball.

How are you allowed to just stretch your leg over the other guy’s thighs while not trying to play the ball? It’s like when someone lunges to try to make a tackle, misses the ball, and the other player jumps over them and they lose their balance.

You didn’t make contact but you obstructed them illegally and caused them to lose possession. Armstrong can either continue trying to shoot as normal and get tripped up and come no where near hitting the ball, or he can try to stretch for the the ball and maybe get a shot off before he falls.

Just because he stretches and that means there’s less contact doesn’t mean Walker didn’t foul him.

No matter what you do. If you like, backflip in the front of the player. Do rubber leg. As long as you don't make a contact, no referee can blow a foul or penalty. Unless the player evades the action and then it can be termed dangerous, depending on the opposing players action.

No referee can blow a penal for stretching a leg in front of the player, as long as you do not make a contact.

Alright ...

The only fair decision here is :

* Foul on Walker.

* Straight red and 3 match ban for Armstrong (simulation and violent play).

* Automatic win and 3 points for city.

* 10 point deduction for Southampton. cheesy
