Our tertiary education system has to be restructured, the methods used in recruiting lecturers must be reviewed.More than 80% of lecturers in our institution are not supposed to be lecturers. Most of their published journers are students' projects and even most of them consult experts to write their research thesis for themselves. The problem is not about project consultants, they are available all over the world, no matter how strong the academic structures of such countries. In the first instance, no student by default will want to pay for somebody to do the project for him/her if he/she knows it well. Forget about lame excuses like " I don't have time, I can actually do it,..'.Many students started the projects by themselves, but after their supervisors reject their works for several times, they consult experts to help them out. In practical oriented courses like engineering, computer science and so on, how do the school want students to do their projects themselves when enough time is not allocated for project research in the first place? Can two hour a week allocated for student projects be enough even for researches, not to talk of implementation or construction of hardware gardgets? How many supervisors have enough time for students to supervise them as it suppose to be? Students only see some supervisors a week to their final project presentation, so is a week guide enough for such students to do projects by themselves without consulting experts to bail them out? For example, in computer science, where any new programming languages introduced during course work in the class is about: "...writing programs to solve quadratic equations, matrixes, average of two numbers, factorial etc", but when it comes to final year projects, the same programming lecturers will search foreign universities to look for most difficult research topics suitable for his/her own publixations as project topics for students he taught " quadratic equation program" to implement in less than one month, how do you expect these people not to consult experts to bail them out? One of the major problems we have in this country is that we have more than 80% of lecturers who never had practical industrial experiences, and those who do among them are never talented and trained in teaching even the dullest students. How can a lecturer who has never developed and published simplest software for industries, government agencies or even for masses trained another people (students) on how to become another Billgate, Google or Facebook owner? This is one of the reasons why government's effort at reviving the education sector is not yielding positive result. Forget about how much budget is allocated to education sector, even if 90% of our national budget is earmarked for education, and the same approach of recruiting lecturers into our tertiary education level is still maintain couple with attitude of work of these lecturers, we will continue to get the same poor result. If we can not boast of '5' students out of '100' that are employable, skillful from every department after graduation, then, total restructure of our education system should take place, because logically, it means our higher institutions are just recruiting and turning out unemployed youths yearly that are into yahoo-yahoo business, kidnapping, robbery and more. |

BarristerAlarig: You're an idiot for asking your oga to shut up. The thing pained you no be small. Why will you spend 4 to 5 years in school without being able to summarize what you've learnt. Ain't you ashamed of yourself? Gosh! I'm ashamed on your behalf. People like you are the ones shouting 'i'm not an illiterate' up and down. Shame is free. Be ashamed for once. An illiterate is someone who can neither read nor write. It doesn't matter whether you go to shool or not. If you cannot write your project, then you're an illiterate. In your case you're an 'illiterate graduate'. Just download 'shame' from playstore and you will be alright. |

BarristerAlarig: Graduate of the Federal Republic, can you argue the subject? No you won't because you can't give what you don't have? A whole graduate cannot differentiate his right from his left? Oh God! This is wasted fund? You should have been given your school fees to use to open shop in Alaba international market. By now you would have become a better person in the society. Alaba market produces more millionaires than your alma mater. Shame on you. No wonder you outsourced your 4years summary of your course of study! To be sure you can write at all, oya reply me with at least 5 sentences. Illiterate graduate! |

DaCharis2016:i don't know what course you're studying, so, you guys might do a defence, we didn't do any The first trick to getting a project topic is picking something that actually has materials, I could barely source materials for mine, because the topic was virtually non-existent. So, just go to your school library and ask for project topics for your course. School libraries usually have a compilation of project topics by graduated students. Whichever topic stands out for you, and you think you will enjoy writing, you should go tor it. You must not go for the certain topic, it could be something on comparisons or effect of certain policies. You could limit a comparison to Nigeria and other countries, or you could use the effect of a policy on the Nigerian society I can't really tell much if I don't know your course of study, because lots of courses may require an actual case study. |

DaCharis2016: You will need different sources, not just one. It could be similar projects, or journal publications found online. The Internet could be a big help for you, considering your topic. I used this website- academia.edu, you should check it out, there are a range of topics there. You may have to lift some things, especially if statistics are involved, you will alsoo have to use your own words, usually when you get to the summary of each chapter. I'm not very familiar with Accounting Topics though 1 Like |
