If you read my previous write-up, I talked about visiting the Brazilian presidential Palace and it was an awesome experience for me and one thing I noticed is the freedom. We have a bus stop near the presidential Palace as you can see in the picture below, I don't think this can happen in my country, the presidential Palace in my country is a no-go zone.



What are African leaders always scared of?



In Brazil, people go to the presidential Palace to take pictures and you won't find one military checkpoint or fierce-looking soldiers, why is Africa always different?



When I was making the video the military guy walked up to me and politely and calmly told me to go to the part where i can take pictures from because I was making the video close to the road, if it was in Africa a fierce-looking military man might even beat you



This are part of the reasons why I love Brazil because of the freedom we enjoy here

Let me answer your question as to why Africans are scared.
African leaders are scared because they know that they lack the legal consent of the people they govern. Put it this way, they are the gate keepers of another person's prison.

No African country is created for the people that's why the first thing they signed into their OAU was preserving the colonial boundary.

Though it appears that the current generation lack the knowledge of their history but the gate keepers (African Leaders) are subconsciously always scared of the people realising themselves and Revolting. This is very evident in my Igboland, we have many chiefs but the only one that adorns himself with security men and Police is the so called King because he knows he is a mere warrant chief created to subdue the people
If it was for the people and by the people, they don't need to be constantly afraid of the people revolting

In Brazil people abuse the president face to face

I think coup played a major role in heavy security presence at the state house

Check it with the number of coups we had since the 60s. P&t was over looking the state house in marina many years ago and no state house security operatives harrased people walking along the fence.

Not that I fancy any of our leaders,but I can not fault them for fortifying their abode and convoy.

When their is breach of security you need to upgrade. The Russian and US state houses are not in Africa but they are the most fortified in the world.No.10 downing street is not a fenced state house but the security is different from what it was in the past.

It is when citizens are treated fairly before African leaders may relax their securities

The day I went inside the politburo hall in China was the day I knew that Nigerian rulers are evil! I walked around the whole place in company of my Chinese friend. Most of the Chinese government establishment revolves around The Tianamen square. Yet that place is the biggest tourist attraction for ordinary Chinese, who save up to go and see these places, including the summer palaces and the great wall. Very freely and with little disturbances.

Infact more security checks were only introduced at The Tianamen square as Islamic militancy grew , especially around the Muslim dominated region in China. It makes you think deeply! If a socalled communist country can be so free to allow her citizens to walk around the corridors of power , what's it that frightens Nigerian leaders? Because this is a Nigerian problem. No one has pictures of Aso Rock. Yet, even in places like Cotonou and Lome, you can easily walk up to the gates of the state houses.

Thomas Sankara used to go out in the evening to buy suya,no convoy,no security A top magazine from France came to interview him about the rumour that is closest friend, Blaise Compaore, was planning a coup,he said they should let him do what he likes. Not up to 2 weeks Compaore killed him and became the president.

Leaders that are afraid of the people renders services not loot

African leaders are afraid because they know that the people whom they lord themselves over don't like them. Honestly, I think the colonial boundaries should be torn down and let the various ethnic nationalities decide whom they want to share a country with. These artificial countries created by the european colonialists ain't working. This is why there is no peace in many parts of Africa and African leaders surround themselves with excess security personnel.

There is no such thing as "treated fairly".
It only takes one person and the rest will be history.
Many presidents have lost their lives to such naivety.

Not in Nigeria.

The way Nigeria is structured won't allow one single person to ascend presidency through politics or coup,and you expect him to have absolute power that will give Nigerians better deal without the support of his partners.

All our leaders past and present are tainted. They have no choice than to compromise when they present them evidence of their crooked past and present
