Actually they break down doors but only if occupants refuse to open door or if the occupants are suspected to be potentially violent or someone who have a case and refused to submit to the police. Often its done in daylight. But sometimes in case of confirmed criminals they go very early in the morning like 5am or late night when individual is sleeping in order to use element of surprise. Never at crazy hours like these criminal EFCC, and always with search warrants.

See US cops break into a home in this video, and they were trying to recover a 2yr old from the parents over some issue. Imagine if it's criminal they wanted to arrest.

No excuse for molesting people, they are innocent. You can restrain them and identify yourselves, then go on with the search, if they have evidence of injury or beating, they can have a case of assault, or battery.
