A Nigerian man, Vincent Desmond @vincentdesmond_ has shared his experience with the police in Lagos. He wrote:

"I got stopped by the police at Gbagada this afternoon and after accusing me of being a yahoo boy and manhandling me and attempting to take me to their station, they took me to the ATM and made me withdraw pretty much all that I had in my account."

After this happened, I got stopped by another set — dressed in army uniform. Despite explaining who I was and that I had already been stopped by and extorted by another set minutes ago, they insisted on me giving them money. They've taken everything from me. I am actually crying.

3 years ago i was driving to my villa wt my best friend(a policeman, a high ranked), i had all papers complete..we were stopped by police and he wanted to show them his id card..i told him to wait so i can show him why i usually say hes d only policeman i like..
Trust men in black..dey dont disappoint..i showed all documents and they asked for spanner, fire extinguisher etc..fortunately i had all...my frnd was frustrated..i told him to calm down n experience d frustrations Nigerians endure in the hands of policemen...this happened 4 close 2 an hour and in d end they askd 4 moni 4 beer otherwise they will ask 4 a document i wont have. I was enjoyin every part of this especially seeing the frustration in my friend's face...in d end he flashed his id and dey saluted and startd apologising..he took their names and badge. In d end police is not ur friend but ur thieves.

I'm a Nigerian and I've had one or two encounters with the NPF. One occasion they asked me to step out of the vehicle, I willingly did, they requested for my phone , I gave it to them, collected my wallet went through my IDs I was looking at them, and they finally gave me my property back and asked i find them something, we all laughted and I told them next time.
