Lol, someone is triggered. I will stay here as long as I like and tell you the truth. Military is not status but rather sacrifice. No matter what you do as soldier, as long as you continue to disrespect the rights of the average Nigerian, you will be hated and despised by majority of Nigerians. I learnt in school to avoid bad more than doing good because your bad image will last longer.

The ways to stop Ambushes in Northeast.

1) AA Truck Gunners should open fire at bushy terrains and ISWAP crossing points

2) When they get 2km close to ISWAP crossing point a drone should be engaged for proper surveillance.

3) The Middle and Rear vehicles in the Convoy should be an APC or MRAP if we don’t have the resources to carry every soldier in an APC.

Exactly my thoughts... Send out foot patrols to move ahead of the convoy and into the bushes surrounding the roads may have foiled some of these ambushes... Infact if the troops moved through the bushes cautiously, they may surprise the terrorists and turn their plan against them...
1.Call in air surveillance of route before taking off on patrol. Only Super Tucano and Wing Loongs can do this kind of careful surveillance of the route.

2. Wait for analysis and go-signal before proceeding on the trip. This wait can be up to 48 hours.

3. Air surveillance of route is not just looking for high endurance ISWAP fighters hiding in the brush and mud not minding insect bites and snakes. The air surveillance is looking for the slightest evidence that they have started encroaching a 20km radius area near the route or have passed by. In that case the order should be no-go.

I know some families are currently in mourning

However, I want to ask about the state of training of our troops

When something becomes too frequent, then it means the troops are not learning or the leadership is purposely aloof

When the rate of ambushes begin to rise, it may start to reduce the gains made by our troops and dampen morale

I am not a soldier or a field officer but if I am to be sent out on patrol, I would've thought out measures to take to reduce the risk of ambushes.

I am just thinking out loud but I may be wrong

Following the suspension of diplomatic relations, Algeria has just announced the closure of its airspace to all Moroccan aviation - civil and military.

About time those puffed-up Lilliputians in Morocco were put in their place.
Algeria scores a goal there. Let's see how the Royals at Casablanca respond.

In addition to what you said, Algeria has a huge airspace to the east of Morocco. I have looked at flight patterns data and it would affect planes flying to almost all other North African countries including the Middle, Far and South- East Asia.

More fuel, New permits, More Problems.

Are u sure you know what a kilometre is? At that distance it is no longer a convoy. Not practical and there is no tactical advantage in it.
Well .. it's just to reduce the casualty and lose of weaponry during ambush. The last two ambush I heard of, the army suffered 15-20 fatalities, which goes to show that the vehicles conveying the soldiers were more than 1. Though I knw there are other bigger vehicles too.

If the distance between them were properly spaced, am sure iswap will need a bigger force to attack them simultaneously.

At least with the space, the other vehicles not under attack can either escape from the ambush or properly prepare to help those under attack.

Year in year out, we have been hearing of multiple number of soldiers dying as a result of ambushes. We are no longer talking about tactical advantage to repel the ambush, but how to minimize the loss of life and weapons.
If there are 5 vehicles in a convoy and 3 were taking out in an ambush due to proper spacing, it's better than having all 5 taking out as a result of the convoy been together.

Baba units should just be equipped with long range ground radars.... the army has equipments that they don't even use,I wonder why.....with ground radars, you can see anything up to 30km from you on the ground and low flying aircraft, even location of people can be picked, mortars, vehicles and so on can be picked easily, no matter how good they camouflage and yes, the army has had this technology for years, even federal road safety had this technology since the 80s , why it isn't applied on the north east I don't understand, we have old almost obsolete atgm that can be used to destroy technicals from stand off range it isn't been used, we have gatling guns, that can be used to suppress massed attacks of FOBs it isn't been used, even the air force, I just hope they don't strap dumb bombs on the modern aircraft, and start drooling over precision weapons hidden away in ordinance depots. I keep saying it, insecurity might not even with this buhari's regime, there seems to be s certain lack of will.
Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by RiceProducers: 9:57am On Sep 25, 2021
I believe Nigeria bought a good quantity of ground radars but they specified and bought German stuff. Actually Germany gave a number for free.

I believe clutter is affecting performance of the few radars being used. I also don't think they bought enough of them.

Check out this clutter-free ones

When you introduce ground radars in large numbers, make sure you specified the right ones otherwise you have not solved the problem.

You also solve the problem when you operationalise them by developing procedures that work with the existing tactics of Army formations.

Why won't they share and like it? Before Buhari came on board, shooting of protesters was something unheard of in Nigeria. Now it has become a normal thing to shoot or arrest anybody who protests or says anything against the government, and then act as if it is normal. Many African countries respect their citizens better than us. You must not be a first world country to achieve decency in human rights. So don't be surprised, Buhari turned Nigerians against its own military. Sahara Reporters is only an opposition paper feeding on the misbehaviors of the government.

Whenever there is an ambush we will wail, theorise, throw curses/abuses etc till the next one happens then we rinse and repeat.
As far as I'm concerned ambushes can't be 100% eliminated it is part and parcel of the war games, that been said we can only do our best to reduce casualties that results from ambushes and it starts with the basics which is working with the right military hardwares, we should phase out the Innoson trucks/ Toyota Hilux and use MRAPs(could be from Proforce) as minimum patrol vehicles. There is a limit to what ISRs, Tucanos etc can do; if we never still fit breakout from the person wey use JuJu tie us to Toyota Hilux we should kuku reinforce the vehicles with armor plates beneath and around each light skin vehicles (MadMax stuffs) most of the ambushes are from IEDs there nothing anybody can do to stop it not even advanced militaries we should have known this already and start finding a way around it.

RIP to the departed.

Truth is an all out offensive is needed, on the level of the ending days of Jonathan's regime, not this stalemate we seem to be enjoying.

You think say na Toyota Hilux 72MSF and Executive outcome use route BHT in those 3 months to elections? If we give the weakest unit in the NA the kind of assorted military hardwares & resources and support those guys had then, we would have gone far in this war.

Every move at the upper echelon seems to point to an ongoing plan for this. The acquisition of new platforms that are coming in in reasonable quantities, the plans, the trainings etc. I'm sure the military won't just want to start an offensive without proper preparation. I'm also sure the current administration won't leave before changing the situation in the North East. 2022 will be a very interesting year.

The president isn't funding the military this much to make them maintain status quo. From the speech of the minister of defense and CDS in the recently released airforce documentary, I could deduce that they are planning something big.
The defense minister mentioned how they've improved the airforce abilities in areas of observing, interdicting, fighting as well as night missions capabilities which will enable the military take the fight to the enemies. The CDS mentioned how it will now be easier for the army to move into any location after the airforce may have conducted air interdiction operations and with CAS when needed.
They know what they are doing and they have a plan.

72MSF did not rout BH in three months. They never even claimed they did. Nigerians are a bunch of simpletons.

We have all it takes for a full offensive, keep the most equipped units as the spearhead, if by the next fighting season, iswap and bht are not fighting or killing their leaders, I would just conclude this regime isn't ready to end this war.

Lol. Where did I mock him? Seems like many of you are children. I'm simply telling you the reason why many Nigerians continue to mock and distrust the military despite the work they do, and you all just resort to throwing insults here and there. Simple English one can't even understand. People don't just behave strangely for no reason.
Buhari probably did more infrastructural work than Jonathan in the South-east. But why is he hated there by majority? It's simply because of his highhandedness in handling IPOB when it started in 2016-17 without guns, as well as seemingly lopsided appointments. So you get the point, your bad acts go a longer way to influence people than your good acts. If you want to be stupid and throw insults without understanding simple English, you're free. See you later.

Or does regime change comes with change of weapons, tactics and theater commanders too ?
