Hello in house Doctors,My niece got hit by hot boiling water on her stomach and leg late yesterday night when her mum was about to bathe her, details from her are still sketchy as this was the only thing she said when she called early this morning on the phone....

The ambulance took them to where she was given birth to but was rejected and they were referred to another hospital in another city where they were hurriedly taken away in an helicopter to an emergency in the referred hospital...

PLS WHAT HER CHANCES AND HOW CRITICAL IS IT ?...Searched the internet to get informations that will give me some hope and make me calm but found nothing yet

The only positive is they are not in a Nigerian hospital where medical attentions are delayed but in Europe....

pardon my errors and typos

A similar thing happened to someone (a 3 year old) very close to me, in the past embarassed cry shocked for over 3 months, no one, none of family members rested until the child was discharged from the hospital. Treatment continued for the next 2 solid years! Scars were still there even after a decade!

If they were in Nigeria, would an helicopter transport them to the referred hospital?

No hospital will reject such but rather, was taken to an accident and trauma hospital, a bigger and better hospital with specialists trained for that.

Use the time you are using for this, enter bus or train to the said hospital and keep vigil with the parents. They will appreciate it.

Since they are not in Nigeria, why bring that to a Nigerian forum?

Wonder if you are worried for the child or merely want to show off.

Dont get yourself worked up, she would be fine, thank God she's in Europe where life matters to them...

The only thing you need to do now is to back it up with prayers, wish her quick recovery...

If they can afford it, most likely.
Can everyone in Europe afford to be flown in a helicopter?

The point is burn victims survive and recover in Nigeria. It is not only by being flown in a helicopter.

This is Nairaland; people bring all sorts of questions here. Besides, I'm not the OP; you should be directing your inquiry towards her.

Idk why you think she's showing off or what she's showing off by opening the thread. The OP's in Nigeria and it seems she hasn't heard from the mother since they last spoke. I think she's genuinely worried about her niece and I reckon she wants to know if others have had similar experiences. It makes a good discussion, so I don't see the issue.

Thanks So much sister. You seem to understand the situation better

Lord knows I am trying so hard to censor what I really want to say to you cos wtf....

It would have been better if you had skim through and move along to other threads because this is higher than your low-brain cells that is short of oxygen....I vividly asked for the opinions of in-house doctors or people who have been in similar situations for advice and I appreciate them thus far.....and not you who don't even know me,don't know my name, can't picture my face to this moniker telling me I am showing off,UNTO WETIN NA?

Remember, this is a 2-month old baby we're talking about, so I doubt they would have to pay. Seeing it was an emergency, I'm sure it was the Hospital that got the helicopter for them asap, to be taken to the other Hospital. Even if the mother has to pay for being flown (again, I doubt it and if she does, it probably wouldn't be much or a fee she can't afford), I'm sure she wouldn't turn down the opportunity to save her baby's life because of the cost, if any.

I didn't say burn victims don't survive or recover in Nigeria, so idk what you keep going on about. I told the OP "Thank God they're in Europe and not Nigeria" because the mother and child were not only referred to the specialist Hospital but were taken there/flown there by the Hospital via a helicopter. If they had been in Nigeria, would that have happened? But they're not in Nigeria, hence the "Thank God" comment, because they're in a country with medical facilities that don't waste time when it comes to saving lives.

I've a relative who was sick three months ago, stayed at one Hospital for two weeks, then the Hospital took her to another Hospital (at no cost to her) when they discovered she needed more intensive treatment and therapy, which she received at the second Hospital (they deal specifically with the issue) for a month. Healthcare systems abroad are more empathetic, organized and of course, cutting-edge, which are some of the reasons why they work.

You, what are you on about?
Why are you so worked up?

As expected. The last time you quoted my post on another thread, with gibberish (someone will be saying A, you'll be saying Z), I responded to you to have an intelligent debate, but you went into hiding. Now you're here again with your typical rubbish and passive-aggressiveness. Maybe you should stop quoting/mentioning people when you know you can't hold an intelligent conversation or debate with them.

You? Intelligent debate? When you cannot even space and apply simple punctuations where and when it is needed in most of your write ups? Hehehehehehehehehehehehe cheesy
Sweetie, most of your epistles are just too painful to read through, so I’d rather not. So, don’t flatter yourself!
O si n’owu typical rubbish and passive-aggressiveness ? grin

You know what? Let’s just all channel our collective positives energies to op’s niece and (all the suffering babies, both in Nigeria and Europe) so that she (they) could make a quick recovery.
Ina ati ife.

You that thinks she's Virginia Woolf (as if you even know who she is), what have you written up there that makes any ounce of sense? When you're too stupid to engage 1) intelligently, 2) rationally, and 3) lack basic reading comprehension skills, na to
the other's writing. At least you're consistent with your stupidity. As long as my writing was clear for the OP, whom I was speaking to before you butted in with your lame-ass, that's all that matters to me.

Ah! Why na? grin
Eheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen! E reach dis level?
Wait! Wait!! Wait!!! Do I live rent-free in your head? I do, don’t I? Chai! cheesy
This comment of yours proves you’ve had it in for me for a long while. Abajo!
Sweetheart, by all means, join the queue cos una plenty! E yapa! And I know all of una. grin

You know what is funny though? How most of you that are quick to claim intelligence, your so-called intelligence are never seen beyond family section.
As una too dey intelligent, make una spread am na? cheesy
Na to tanda for one section dey flex muscles.

I did just that with my, "Thank God they're in Europe and not Nigeria. I pray the baby will be fine and I'm sure she will be" comment. Your own was to quote me with your usual nonsense. Learn to finish what you start, otherwise stay off my mentions, dumbo.

If you had any intelligence as you claim, you’d know that that your comment was very insensitive and unfair to those living in Nigeria. But do you care?

Do you know how many babies suffer burn in Nigeria? (Babies are most likely to suffer burn you know?)
Did all the babies that suffered burn in Nigeria not survive because they couldn’t be flown in a helicopter?
Did the ones that survived all did because they were flown in a helicopter?

Well, the baby will be fine. You will be fine.

...and NO, I’m not dumb!
