Hello in house Doctors,My niece got hit by hot boiling water on her stomach and leg late yesterday night when her mum was about to bathe her, details from her are still sketchy as this was the only thing she said when she called early this morning on the phone....

The ambulance took them to where she was given birth to but was rejected and they were referred to another hospital in another city where they were hurriedly taken away in an helicopter to an emergency in the referred hospital...

PLS WHAT HER CHANCES AND HOW CRITICAL IS IT ?...Searched the internet to get informations that will give me some hope and make me calm but found nothing yet

The only positive is they are not in a Nigerian hospital where medical attentions are delayed but in Europe....

Okay, here is my testimony and I hope it gives you and your family a lil bit of hope and calm.

Same thing happened to me as a baby, I guess barely 2 months or maybe more, but I was a pretty Johnny just come on planet earth.
Mine was from my head, the left part of my head, down my face I'm not sure if it extended to my stomach.
Treatment went on for months, and luckily for me, I only have a lil bit bald spot ( not so obvious) on my head. My face is fine, well, except if you come really close ( maybe to kiss me) then you would notice some uneven patches of complexion. Asides that I'm good.from afar, there's nothing noticeable.
So y'all be calm. Seeing her in pain would be heartbreaking, but she will pull thru, it's just for this period. My mum mentioned Honey( original one) helped me heal. Also ,my melanocytes were still in their prime, so my skin was able to regenerate better.
My mum said mine was pitiful,as strangers were even dashing her money for my treatment.

First aid for burn injuries is to run the burning area over tap water/shower immediately for 20-30mins minimum, even before seeking for medical help, and I wish people know this.

You never can know the prognosis without knowing the degree and percentage of burns sustained.

I wish the child and family all the best, and healing.

The hospital the baby was born cannot handle it. They are in good hands. They will treat the baby well.

The most important is how it heal now. And then after it is healed, there should be no growth. If there is no growth, everything will heal perfectly.

So, you may want the send them original honey. Listen, it works like charm. They must use it so as not to have any growth.

Also, snail slime works too. If they dont act, there will be growth. And to reduce the growth, they will first use some pads on it (I dont want to get too technical here. And if that doesn't work, plastic surgery. But they can really avoid it. Honey and snail slime work like charm if used at the right time. I am sure they will be given some things also...but listen...these two if they use, I guaranteed you. But it must be 100% pure honey. And avoid snail slime cream. I think raw is better. You can google it and find out more.

With the two above, it will be well.

You shouldn't have brought this here.

You should rather be praying for your innocent niece and not publicise her predicament.

May God spare the innocent baby's life.

My younger brother at 17 months fell inside a bucket of hot water that was supposed to be used to clean Christmas chicken. He is now 25 and although he has the scars, they are not really life altering or changing. He's very normal and lives a normal life.

It was later we were told that we could have used pap water as first aid to prevent the scars from being permanent. They should just have Vaseline or any solid petroleum jelly for the next 3-4 years. The baby will be fine infact because of her age, the scars will become faint as she grows.

Sorry about it. They should also make sure that they use the creams hospital will provide as the healing process is very itchy and it not well lubricated will bleed.

She will not die so don't even worry about that one. I'm hearing helicopter so I know it's not based in Nigeria. Note that we lived in Nigeria at the time and my brother was treated in a nigerian hospital. So with solid medical care just add prayers and some love and baby will be Ok

Remember, this is a 2-month old baby we're talking about, so I doubt they would have to pay. Seeing it was an emergency, I'm sure it was the Hospital that got the helicopter for them asap, to be taken to the other Hospital. Even if the mother has to pay for being flown (again, I doubt it and if she does, it probably wouldn't be much or a fee she can't afford), I'm sure she wouldn't turn down the opportunity to save her baby's life because of the cost, if any.

I didn't say burn victims don't survive or recover in Nigeria, so idk what you keep going on about. I told the OP "Thank God they're in Europe and not Nigeria" because the mother and child were not only referred to the specialist Hospital but were taken there/flown there by the Hospital via a helicopter. If they had been in Nigeria, would that have happened? But they're not in Nigeria, hence the "Thank God" comment, because they're in a country with medical facilities that don't waste time when it comes to saving lives.

I've a relative who was sick three months ago, stayed at one Hospital for two weeks, then the Hospital took her to another Hospital (at no cost to her) when they discovered she needed more intensive treatment and physiotherapy, which she received at the second Hospital (they deal specifically with the issue) for a month. Healthcare systems abroad are more empathetic, organized and of course, cutting-edge, which are some of the reasons why they work.

Why don't you ignore people looking for a fight where there's none?

There are toxic people around. They are lovey dovey until they feel offended by something which doesn't concern them. Then they come out in their true form.

The leopard can't change its spots .

She came to ease her mind and clear her doubt and also gain more knowledge and insight on what she could do.

And it’s your kind who will equally asked how an ambulance could be that quick in Nigeria and how they got an helicopter, hence the reason she had to add that fact. And not being in Nigeria doesn’t make them less Nigerian (besides, she said her niece family, she didn’t make mention of herself.)

It’s like you are the one with a problem, everything isn’t show off. There’s nothing wrong with the tweet. And Nairaland was built by a Nigerian and contain more of Nigerian/African news doesn’t make it strictly for Nigerians.

I don't like this kind of things. Haba! She could have been more careful. Or not boil hot water separately for the kid. Why not just use the regular mix of hot and cold water that comes out of the tap?
Each time she boiled hot water, she was severely endangering the life of the child. It's like putting petrol beside fire. I honestly blame her for this.
