Most of the Lake Chad areas are Governed by ISWAP. Infact when ISWAP carried that ambush on Monguno road two weeks ago, they took some of the Soldiers caught alive to Kukawa market and shot them in the presence of Civilians.

Our Supercamps defensive strategy will not yield the desired results. We need a massive operation in LAC region
This your exaggeration again.

Why will both services be occupied with less serious issues as border protection/monitoring when there are serious jobs like raiding markets in search of foreign rice, foreign salts etc or collecting egunjes at airports and other entry points to be done. We should rather compel the Peace corp and NYSC members to live up to their constitutional mandate as regards border protection/monitoring.

Shebi na part of the massive operation, enemies of state tagged killing fishermen.

For me, any idiot found within a 20mile radius of ISWAP territory is a terrorist or terrorist sympathizer and they deserve to die. Reminds me of a tale I heard of the Liberian war and General Dogonyaro's war approach.

Anybody beyond your DG line is an enemy, whether he is a child or a woman carrying a child. Shoot to kill.

This stem the tide of child soldiers being used against the Nigerian Army at the time. If you know this story, you would relieve some of the glory days of the NNS Aradu and the famous statement "Are we in Liberia to keep peace or to enforce peace?"

I think many of us here are just opposed to any of government's move to quell this insurrection. It is well.
Thank you, and I still stand with this here, I don't care of anyone's opinion about this.

Exactly it's a known fact that NASC baga has been dislodged, it's a known fact that NASC mallam fatori is under ISWAP control. It's a known fact that NBLC was donated to ISWAP. It's a known fact that borno state governor Zulum relocated thousands of residents into the hands of ISWAP in lake Chad.

Oh, sorry, didn't understand at first. But I'm sure he was referring to the lake Chad Islands and some parts of the fringes of the lake. Baga and Mallam fatori are more hinterland.

So you don't know people mostly fish in the night in most riverine areas in Nigeria?

Nah technology wey dem don input in the way dem dey fish now dey make fishermen go and fish anytime of the day. But Nigerian fishermen wey dey use nets alone mostly fish at night.

I remember one chapter for the book of John, wey Jesus tell him disciple wey go fish throughout the night and caught nothing to cast their nets into the water again when dem reach the shore for morning, Peter told him they have been fishing all night and caught nothing.

The ones the Airforce bombed in Yobe two to three weeks ago are terrorists too abi grin

When dem bomb Nigerian army personnel by mistake again, I hope you will agree with me on that day that the Nigerian army personnel are terrorists cool

I wonder if the early days of Sierra Leone Civil War looked like this. Although, I dare say, war in the area will be far worst since I have little doubt, but no evidence to share, that there are external forces bent on creating a linked war across the middle of Africa, from Mali to Central Africa and, perhaps, to as far as Mozambique.

Is far more easier to catch fish at night.

You can make research yourself to know why fishermen all over the world prefer to fish at night.

@SamuelAnyawu you dey ground any truth in this?
The Truth is that there are so many areas with no military presence in Northern Borno, where you have Villagers fishing or Farming and paying loyalty to ISWAP.

Some of these areas ISWAP don’t even sleep or have their bases there. They come around and collect their development fees and move on.

These Villagers will never sell any info about ISWAP movements to military as ISWAP allow them to do their things and pay their taxes.

There are much of these kinda places in Kukawa, Marte, Guzamala and Abadam.

Infact the Lake Chad fishing areas is mostly controlled by ISWAP. There are so many Islands spread across Lake Chad e.g Doron Naira.

In fact Transporters still go to buy fishes from such areas and transport them through routes with no Military presence to Maiduguri. I nearly been wan Dey tempted to do that business when I saw the profit ratio analysis, but then I remembered it’s still indirectly supporting Terrorism.

But the crux of the matter is not why they are fishing at night rather it is why they are fishing in enemy territory and paying taxes to the enemy. It is immoral and unpatriotic. In fact, fishing in that area needs to be permanently banned till it's in control of the government. Any civilian that work in that location is an acceptable collateral damage.

Which civilian did the Borno state government push to Kwatar Daban Masara, where the air strike took place? This location was considered a bastion of ISWAP.

So because is a bastion of ISWAP people no dey live there?

There have been countless report since 2018 about people returning to their homes in different parts of Borno, there have been reports of ISWAP giving people the chance to farm, go to market, fish etc only if they will pay tax to them. This sort of arrangement have been going on a long time ago since ISWAP took over some part of Borno state

In fact, one of the reason ISWAP disagree with Boko Haram is because of the unnecessary killing of civilians by Boko Haram.

But suddenly, almost everybody dey ask Wetin people dey do for the lake Chad axis grin

The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has asked residents to prepare for a shutdown of telecommunication services as security operatives prepare to launch offensives against bandits terrorizing parts of the state.

The governor made the announcement on Tuesday in a chat with some radio stations.

According to him, some parts of the state would not be affected, saying only the local governments facing unrest birthed by incessant attacks by the bloodthirsty bandits would be affected.

The move would cripple communications in the affected areas as phone calls and internet browsing will be stopped.

He said, “We have been advised by the military and other security agencies to shut down telecommunication services in certain LGAs but we are waiting for the security agencies to tell us which specific areas and when.

“But I want the people of Kaduna State to know that if they give us the go-ahead tomorrow, we will shut down tomorrow."

DAILY POST recalls that some states including Zamfara had recently recorded successes in the fight against insurgents after shutting down the services.

Residents of the state had resorted to old means of communication including letter-writing and town crying due to unavailability of the telecommunication services.

Pregnant woman, her son, Boys' Brigade member, others killed as suspected Fulani herdsmen attack Benue communities

At least four persons including a pregnant woman, her son and a Boys' Brigade member have been killed by suspected herdsmen in renewed attacks on some communities in Guma local government area of Benue State.

A local who identified himself simply as Adamgbe, told Nigerian Tribune that the attacks occurred between Friday and Monday, September 27.

According to Adamgbe, the herdsmen attacked people returning from church in the outskirts of Gbajimba, headquarters of Guma on Sunday, September 26. Four persons died in the attack while seven others sustained injuries.

Adamgbe further said that the suspected herdsmen also invaded Ulever community in the council area where four persons were killed.

One Benjamin Mtserga, a Boys' Brigade member, returned from the Holy communion service at NKST Gbajimba on Sunday and was sitting in his compound when the attackers invaded his compound and killed him.

According to another local, Kwen Donald, the pregnant woman and her son were among those killed in Gbajimba.

He added that two of her other children were severely wounded by stray bullets and are currently receiving medical attention at general hospital Gbajimba.

He said that the attackers came through Daudu--Gbajimba road at about 9:00 pm when residents had returns from their daily activities.

Chairman of Guma local government, Caleb Aba, who confirmed the attacks said his younger brother was among those abducted and killed. He noted that the family is yet to recover his remains.

"On Friday last week, my younger brother went to the farm with four others at the outskirts of Gbajimg alt='Pregnant woman, her son, Boys' Brigade member, others killed as suspected Fulani herdsmen attack Benue communities ' class='img-responsive text-center' style='margin: auto;'ba town to harvest rice when the attackers ambushed them on the farm. The other four of them ran and were not caught but being the youngest among them, he could not escape and they caught him," he narrated.

“I have been following it until this morning when I learnt he has been killed. We have not recovered the body. On Sunday evening, it was Gbajimg alt='Pregnant woman, her son, Boys' Brigade member, others killed as suspected Fulani herdsmen attack Benue communities, market day and the NKST church had their holy communion. So those who were coming from the church and those leaving the market were attacked.

"Four people were killed and several others injured who are presently receiving treatment at the Air Force Base Hospital in Makurdi. Also, yesterday (Monday) morning, they were at Ulever community and four people were killed.” the chairman added.

Spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the arrest said that only four people were killed.

"Four people were killed while others sustained injuries. The scene has been visited by the Commissioner of Police and investigation is in progress." she added.

It's sad but it happens. US government covered up a lot of civilian deaths from airstrike in Afghanistan and Iraq, one even happened recently, it was a drone strike, they monitored the guy's movement and behaviors for hours before launching the missile only for the guy to turn out to be an aid worker. Same in Syria and Libya. There is a video on this thread with troops fixing a bright colored fabric on the roof of vehicles so as to make it very glaring they are not the terrorists. Otherwise the pilot will see a mass aggregation of humans with weapons and if he isn't aware of the position of own troops, there is a very possibility of him dropping a bomb on such a sweet target. EO devices were designed to help get a clearer picture of targets but even that isn't error free. As air operation increases, the margin for error increases.
Apart from that, the sales and taxes from fishes and pepper is the biggest source of funding for ISWAP, the military should actually find a way to stop them from earning from it. Not by bombing fishermen and farmers though.

The Senate has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to declare bandits as terrorists.

It also advised the president to wage total war against the bandits, including bombing all their locations to annihilate and eliminate them.

The Red Chamber also asked Buhari to declare all the known leadership of the bandits wanted and track them wherever they are for arrest and prosecution.

The resolutions followed a motion by Senator Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir (Sokoto East) and eight others.

Gobir noted that Sokoto East Senatorial District has now become a safe haven for bandits due to the current onslaught against them in Zamfara State.

He recalled the killing of 21 security personnel last Saturday in Dama and Gangara and yet to be ascertained number of civilians from the neighbouring villages by rampaging bandits.

The gruesome murder, the lawmaker said, portrayed the seriousness of the problem which he said requires concerted and urgent action by the declaration of total war on banditry.

He expressed worry that losing such a number of trained officers would further deplete the numerical strength of the security personnel in the country, thereby jeopardizing the security architecture of the country.

He also lamented that most of the bandits have now relocated to Sabon Birni and Isa local government areas due to the sustained military operations at the Zamfara axis.

The lawmaker said while the crackdown on the bandits was taking place in Zamfara State, no concrete measures have been taken in Sokoto State, leaving it totally exposed to the activities of the bandits.

According to him, the present military onslaught on the bandits is not well coordinated because it is only being orchestrated in Zamfara State instead of all the front line states ravaged by banditry. ,

‘The operation should be holistic instead of restrictive in order to produce effective and the desired results,” he said.

The Senate observed a minute of silence in honour of the fallen heroes and civilians who lost their lives in the unwholesome activities of the bandits.

The Red Chamber also directed the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and other relevant federal government agencies to as a matter of urgency give all the necessary support to the victims of the menace of banditry in Sokoto and other parts of the country.

https://dailytrust.com/declare-bandits-as-terrorists-senate-tells-buhari

IPOB were not carrying arms and were only operating in Igbo land before the GMB led Federal Government declared them a terrorist group. And there was no case or evidence of them killing innocent people, it was even the Nigerian army and police that do kill them for holding a peaceful protest or while they are having a meeting.

Even with all the glaring evidence against Miyatti Allah and Fulani heardsmen, Buhari have refused to declare them a terrorist group
