IPOB : Go Hard Or Go Home by AfricanColumbus: 11:38pm On Sep 29, 2021
A simple look at events in the South East over the last few months has epitomized the African adage that if the bird learns to fly without perching the hunter must learn to shoot without ceasing. The hunter in this case IPOB, is not learning. Apparently they have rather taken to laying frivolous accusations and counter accusations. The ruling DOS has on several occasions now appeared to be inept.

The amount of decoys and masterfully crafted propaganda deployed by the Nigeria government through high profile assassinations and calculated murders, civilian brutality and anti sit at home news, while employing the media against the secessionist group IPOB in the last months has been a thing of marvel. So effectively has propaganda being deployed that a political observer may be moved to applaud in awe. The government is in simple terms, pushing IPOB out little by little by turning sections of the population against the group with masterful propaganda. All these has come after the central government successfully captured the leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The play is to make sure the leader has no IPOB to return to even if he is somehow released.

Right now if one were to picture the two sides as being in a boxing ring the government can be said to be pummeling IPOB into non resistance and if the pace is retained a total knock out is imminent.

In the act of war, propaganda is necessary. Because war is politics. An opponent that fails to employ or counter propaganda effectively will have its rear exposed over time. If enemy propaganda is sustained the ranks collapses from within.
On observation of the current situation in the South East there are two ways to defeat this sustained injurious propaganda :
1) Clapping back with a higher masterful propaganda that would stun the government. In this regard IPOB may do well to set up a propaganda committee to research, (produce) and release damaging antigovernment information.

2) By exposing the play behind the gimmick, so the propaganda becomes a caricature. Here IPOB with its immense resources may choose to employ interception and covert policing to detect moves (plays) by the government before the plans are executed. If interception is successful the effectiveness of a masterful propaganda is nullified. If interception fails investigation and propaganda disarmament becomes necessary.

Failure to employ either of this will bring the end of IPOB. It may be slow in coming but it is sure.

To overlook this perspective is to fail.

Modified : to put it in plain words
IPOB NEEDS A BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION.

It's funny though.

The Department of State Stupidity and the Failure Government of Nigeria are actually doing the propaganda and clean up for IPOB at the same time.

In a society where on several fronts there are widespread issues of insecurity and targeted killings (especially of Christian Southerners) you think a sensible government would invest in other things asides assassination of Southern Christian politicians - then turn around to blame a pressure group agitating for independence due to the Fulani Terrorist threat to existence.

If the FG was sensible. It would have ensured the SE was secured, well positioned for elections and deliver its own party APC in the next election. Use grassroots politics and meaningful development to win people over.

But as is typical of Gen. Failure, he destroys and delivers fake results, using our Akamu and Akara intelligence agencies to start an outrightly foolish campaign.

Obviously the central government is an undisputable failure. But the secessionists must remember that a drowning man will clutch at anything, and in some cases drown someone else along.

the two recommendations from this op's article. It is the truth and masterpiece.

There is no reality where the government wins the people over by propaganda and paid merchants.

It is even in the interest of the guerilla when the government depends on propaganda to make it's case. It's shameful tbvh that rather than provide security, amenities and prosperity the government would rather bath in the mud with IPOB.

FG has given IPOB more credibility and recognition than they even deserve.

The SE governments have responded better to IPOB in my estimation by brutally ignoring them and allowing them suffer in obscurity.

OP I agree with you to some degree...

I believe that some elements are trying really hard to smear the image of Eastern Nigeria with propaganda. There is more to these events than meets the eye.

Someone somewhere is running a dangerous scam and cashing out seriously on innocent blood.

It's up to Igbos to fish out these elements.
If they fold their hands in the face of these turbulence what would become of the nation of Biafra, when and if attained?

So we still have some reasonable people on Nairaland.
Nice on OP.
If only IPOB current leadership is comprised of people with Brain but No, what is left in the organisation without MNK is a bunch of power hungry people without brain. They don't understand the dynamics of what they are in.
Looking at all of them, I now understand why MNK wanted Simon Ekpa who was never part of their leadership structure to lead.
Whatever happens, we the concerned Ndigbo know the truth. Whatever happens, the quest for statehood will never diminish. If IPOB somehow fail which I will try to hinder to the best of my ability, another group will rise in the next few decades. A more sophisticated one that knows who their enemy is.
Not bunch of clown shouting "British citizen" up and down.
IPOB members don't even know who they are fighting. They don't know that the enemy have once done a direct attack to diminish their rank one time when they offered "asylum" but no, they thought it was an acknowledgement

On a more serious note, there are some people behind this ipob issue.since the FG is concealing the boko haram sponsors then i think the ipob sponsors too deserve the same treatment.boko haram doesn't spare notherners cos the villages they invade are local villages.we need to understand the fact that unity is not by force and forget copy and paste constitution. Whether it communalism, nationalism, feudalism, etc are all theoretical but not practicable in our country.lets have a syatem of government that works for us and not copy cat systems...nigeria is not america or north korea and can never be,we cant continue to pour salt inside sugar, what is sweet to some people is sour to some others.what the governors both south and north are doing should be the responsibility of the legislature but they kept num.i think the south doesnt have representation in the legislation cos they never support their governors, which is their primary obligation.
Shebi north korea dey and south korea dey, trinidad dey and tobago dey and the world no end.

You and haters of freedom and liberty subjected them to inhuman treatments unknown to man. If you think the current happenings in Nigeria are at their climax, you are a big joker. In your first paragraph you are awfully wrong. It has worked before and it continues to work till this day. Biafra in its first existence was in fact ruined by propaganda which quickly grew in the fertile hearts of the coastal people. They revolted! Ironically Gowon who was employing masterful anti Biafra propaganda through some persons (tools) in the coastal region was gleefully killing them off. When you hear the South South talking about the Biafran soldiers committing atrocities against them you have no idea that 80% of such stories were masterfully played by Britain through the proxy of the Nigerian government.

War is politics and a successful side must employ politics (including propaganda) masterfully or be ruined with infighting.

I remain defiant and will assert that no government wins a propaganda war against guerillas. Read up Che Guevara - Guerilla.

IRA, FARC and even TAMIL tigers. It's either you're fighting and crushing the guerilla head on, or you're winning the people with policies and governance.

You do not even understand the brute force and coercion that was used on the coastal communities.

It's not propaganda that would make a SSer say Biafran troops committed atrocities against SS communities. That's more or less a Victim mentality playing out.

Governance is not War. And this is where you are wrong. The FG and IPOB are not at war. Propaganda and lies are not an important consideration in healthy governance.

This is one thing they want IPOB to believe, which is that they are fighting Fulani Caliphate.
When one fails to recognise his enemy, he tends to move through circles.
Gowon never brought out any anti IPOB propaganda. Gowon and Nigeria then don't even know what it is. It is the same people that did it in 1966 that are doing it again. The real enemy IPOB is fighting.
Britain.
Every thing happening to IPOB today was used by Britain against IRA of Republic of Ireland.
Google it.
Lack of decisiveness brought IPOB into this situation and if they go for the Queen in this chess game, what they think the king is (Caliphate) becomes powerless because unlike the King(Caliphate), the Queen (Britain) cares about her reputation.

Till date, Ipob still believe that Kenya arrested MNK on their own accord or negotiations from Nigeria. They forget who owns biggest foreign military base in Kenya. Who stands to lose if Nigeria disintegrates.
They think world politics is run on sentiments or that somehow Britain will let them leave Nigeria if they are not sure of controlling them like they do in Nigeria.
They don't know that going against Britain is going against the West and are making the same mistake Ojukwu made which is going against the West without the East Backing.
They want to fight Britain and still condemn China and Russia. Bunch of pathetic people without a clue on world politics. This is why I say that no black group for now can be as smart as the Taliban. The Taliban knew and understood world politics that's why they were able to defeat the two blocks of power with each opposing powers help. They are simply "Immature"
This is why I didn't and can't join them now. They lack knowledge about the basics but I hope somehow they manage to survive this and mature with time.
If they studied the Taliban at least, they won't be in this mess.
Taliban used USA to defeat Russia after 20 years battle, then turned around and used Russia and China to defeat USA recently.
This is global politics. A part wants to reduce the influence of the other at a price. You have to sacrifice something for the bigger good. You can't expect to worship your oppressor, adore him and still that he will be lenient in your fight against him to free yourself.
No. It has never happened.
You must recognise those that want to take your oppressor out and align with them. Currently, Russia wants British influence in Africa reduced and they want somewhere they can get a foothold in the midst of this British realm. So you have to play along. They are used to British and the West propaganda, after all that's what all the Hollywood films we watch are based on. And they have the resources to help sustain your movement

He should have appointed one after Mefor's exit.
One of the reasons Ojukwu would remain heads and shoulders above his peers in the Biafran movement is that he had a VISIBLE and POWERFUL non-Igbo deputy. He wasn't intimidated by that.
