The last time there was an active war in the United States, a lot of civilians were caught in the crossfire. Let's not even go too far, one of the rioters at the capitol hill was shot and killed by US law enforcement agents. The last time there was also a protest against police brutality in the US, the police ended up brutalizing several protesters. They are wise enough not to allow their country turn into a warzone and that's the major difference.
You don't need to site what's happening in the US to ascertain what's bad and what's good, it shouldn't be that difficult to point out.
Absolutely nonsense. You can't compare law enforcement in Nigeria and US and not be stupid. No no no, bro.
Who and who were brutalized during the riots? Infact even if someone was forcefully restrained, can you compare it with being shot and tortured. Something normal in Nigeria.
In fact, the number of people extrajudicially killed and detained in Nigeria in a month, reported and unreported, is more than what has happened in the US since the civil rights era.

Honestly man, you're not intelligent. Keep on justifying crimes and war crimes.

The ground radar in the video link below will be particularly useful in the northwest where bandits move in large numbers to their targets, if they could be spotted at say 30km away, they can be taken out by artilleries or the military could plan an ambush.

Bandits who raided Gangara, a community in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, on Tuesday, went in search of soldiers.

The armed gang stormed the community 48 hours after 17 security personnel were gunned down at a military formation in Dama, still Sabon Birni LGA.

Sa’idu Ibrahim, a member of Sokoto House of Assembly, said the bandits were now targeting security formations in the area.

He said they were hiding in a place called Tudun Katsira, which is between Bafarawa and Burkusuma, adding, “We are ready to lead them (security operatives) to the place.”

The lawmaker lamented that the whole of their area was under siege.

“We are living at their mercy, they kill us at will, tell us what and what not to do. No a traditional, community or religious leader has a say in his area, is the bandits that dictate to them,” he said.

“They raided Gangara village twice on Tuesday, first around 5am and when they could not find any security operative to kill, they came back around 3pm shouting ‘Where are the soldiers who claimed to be on our trail, where are they?’

“As they could not find any security operative to kill, they opened fire on residents,” he said.

When contacted, spokesman of the Sokoto Police Command, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, said he had no information on the latest attack.

You hate someone so much that you have been following him around here and calling him all sorts of names like a scorned lover. And then you allegedly fall into information that his sexual orientation could land him a 14-year jail sentence. And do you go to the police with this info? No. You use it to threaten him into silence. And it's curious that you had this kind of info for so long and did nothing about it.
What does that say about you, guy? undecided

Yeah. Been saying something like this. Like locating military outposts around 50km from each other and these should have long and short range arty, and be mutually-supporting as well. They can use ground radar systems to detect terrorists, then use drones to confirm their identity, before dispatching them to hell with a volley of 155mm high explosive or themobaric shells.
The only viable counter I can see to this is ISWAP or bandits infiltrating or attacking such bases and I don't see this succeeding if the bases are well set up and manned.

You are all seeing this? Bandits, who used to be armed with dane guns and bows have now gotten brave and equipped enough to actively go hunting for soldiers. In fact, they attacked and sacked a military outpost last week if I remember correctly. Bandits, not Boko Haram or ISWAP are doing this. I knew this would happen, but not so soon. And the latest reports have it that Boko Haram are now training them. Soon, both sides will be indistinguishable.

Don't know about you, but I am actually scared, more than I've been in years. I get more scared when estimates are thrown around that these bandits number from 50k to 70K. Add in Boko Haram, ISWAP, Fulani herdsmen and unknown gunmen in the east and it is easy to see that the NA is facing an enemy almost if not more equal to it in size and speedily risks being overwhelmed.

This is scary and I'm not being an alarmist.

Yeah, the Army got some ground radars, thermal cameras and long range cameras too but I don't think in meaningful quantities.
This video is from 2019.

The German radars NA got in large quantities has a lot of deployment issues.

Allowing vigilantes and militias to play more role in the conflict will help. Probably also allowing them to carry assault riffles too.

Many of them will definitely go rogue, even within the police force and the military we have lot's of rogue personnels, but with adequate oversight and management, meaningful results will still be achieved.
And these militias will be under community leaders and traditional rulers so if a particular section is giving you problems, you know who to hold responsible or go after.
I don't know how Osun state did it with the harmonized vigilante group which is under the supervision of the police force and they've been really effective.

True, but there are trade offs. Firstly there are certain fixed costs associated with subs like the Shore based Sub Support facility. Smth like Kings Bay Naval Sub Base in Georgia for the USN Tridents allowing for loading of stores, repair and maintenance under a roof allowing submerging and berthing away from nosy satellites. In typical American style its HUGE! A small (by US standards) town of 15 k spread out over 6500 ha. Expect the infrastructure to include facilities like several 50 T hydraulic hoists,

5 axis CNCs like this for precision repair and manufacture of extremely low tolerance parts and spares for the propulsion and/or weapons sytems.

Escape training tanks like this

https://youtu.be/QnFXS29ExrM

not to mention cold stores, armouries and health facilities from gyms to dentistries and hospitals. The large 5 axis CNC starts at 500 k$. All under roofs with the docking bay on the beach to allow berthing.

Minimum of 2 TRVs, Torpedo Recovery Vessels like the Indian Astravahini. I can't find a price but its MUCH smaller than a 300 ft OPV about the size of a Damen Stan around 130 ft. Such size vessels start at around 40 mn$ and you'd need at least 2.

The SoKors have the Dolgorae class.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolgorae-class_submarine

Imo,midget subs won't fit in financially or tactically. Spending a 100 mn $ minimum to carry a couple of SEALS and/or 3 or 4 torps within the Gulf of Guinea doesn't make sense. For a starter sub I'd go for the French Andrasta at 150 mn $ and 3 mn $ yearly op cost..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrasta-class_submarine

Learn sub ops and develop doctrines. After a decade scale up with 350 mn $ Kilos. In my rough estimate the cost of the ShBaSuSuFa and all equipment and buildings alone should be minimum 500 mn $.

Thinking of associated costs one must rmbr the support platforms. The dedicated anti sub chopper, the Lynx which we've seen here with Saffas and Algerians starts at 50 mn $, 2 mn $ yearly. Ideally at least a half squadron of 6 land based with min 2 anti sub or multi purpose frigates just for the Gulf of Guinea : corvettes WON'T cut it! Smth with BOTH deck space and internal volume for the sensitive sensor packages and personnel to man them.
For minimum wahala ofc you'd go Chinese. The Type 054a starts at 500mn $ costing 33 mn $ annually. Minimum, ofc is 2 ideally 3. Incl increased base housing for all these guys plus support people in your costs.
Don't forget at least a thousand sonabouys yearly for training and a couple more ATR 72s, a 60 mn $ ac at 6 mn annually, with MADs, Magnetic Anomaly Detector. Its ALWAYS good to have a hi and low option for your fighting platforms. This is the high end for finding subs, the Lynx being the low option.

All prices: [/http://nationsdawnofanera.weebly.com/-maritime-patrol-aircraft.html]

The biggest risk in sub ops ISN'T just financial but geostrategic risk. You do KNOW the major sub powers are ruthless MOFOS! Jean-Fraude WON'T take kindly to local usurpers in his back yard. Expect a secret enemy sub attack or sabotage disguised as a terrible accident or poor maintenance.
It happens all the time!
You've heard of Russian sub sinkings but there are actually quite a few. Indonesia lost a German made 209 late April.

A submarine missing since Wednesday off the coast of Bali with 53 people on board has been lost, the Indonesian navy said on Saturday.

Parts of the submarine, along with debris including prayer mats, were found near where it went missing, the navy chief of staff said.

A scan detected the sub at a depth of 850m (2,800ft), well beyond its survivable limit.

It was only carrying enough oxygen for three days.

Late 2017 Argentina also lost a similar Diesel Electric Type 1700.

The wreckage of a submarine which went missing with 44 crew on board a year ago has been found, the Argentine navy says.

The ARA San Juan submarine disappeared 430km (270 miles) off the Argentine coast on 15 November 2017.

The navy stopped its rescue mission two weeks after the sub's disappearance.

In 2013 the Syrians sunk an Impostor Dolphin though some say another was also lost 2 yrs later in the Med. The Israelis admitted nothing. In 1968 they lost the Dakar secretly sunk by the USN after they wilfully attacked the USS Liberty in the Red Sea during the 6 day war hoping the US would blame Egypt.

What with the ENORMOUS financial outlay and geopolitical risk in form of sabotage or secret attack forget this ISHYT!

Unless Uncle Putin for some reason likes you.

MANILA, Philippines — Russia has expressed willingness to provide the Philippine Navy with two kilo-class diesel electric submarines.

According to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Moscow is even offering a soft loan if the Philippine government is short of funds to bankroll the Navy’s submarine acquisition project.

That's a once in a lifetime chance the Phil's will jump on. Imagine they've NOT even a single frigate and will need a few plus MPAs to develop sub doctrines.
Anyway, how many here still think Naij needs subs after seeing all direct, indirect costs, BH/ISWAP demands and VERY real geopolitical risks?

I agree.

With the way things dey go sef, any group that is ready to really negotiate with the government, the government should sit and negotiate with them.

I don't know if ISWAP will be interested in any negotiation. But the government can have a serious negotiation with IPOB and bandits.

Security issues is getting out of hand in the South East too. And I don't think the Government can win any of this battle anytime soon.

It will save lives, properties and money.

Is just my opinion abeg cool

Though I feel the Government should use force on them, but the Nigerian military and paramilitary can't win any of this battle.

If we can negotiate with UGM, IPOB and Bandits, we will have more time to plan about what should be done about our poorous Northern boarders and also be able to focus more of the military might in the North East.

Is just a matter of time, the military will start an operation in some part of the south east again. The police seems to have no solution and to what is happening in the South East.

Unknown gunmen said to be numbering over seven, attacked Ajali Police Station, in Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State, killing five policemen, and setting the station ablaze.

These unidentified gunmen, on Thursday at about 3:15 pm attacked the convoy of Honorable Chris Azubogu, the member representing Nnewi North/Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, killing one of his drivers.

Vanguard gathered from an eye witness that the gunmen were driving in two Sienna vehicles and one Lexus jeep.

Hon. Azubogu was attacked on Nnewi–Nnobi Road on his way back to Nnewi from Awka after his formal declaration for the All Progressives Congress, APC, according to Vanguard source.

An eyewitness said the attack of Hon Azubogu, occurred in front of St Paul’s Anglican Church, Nnobi, in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Ajali, the headquarters of Orumba North Local Government Area, is the home town of former Chairman, National Electoral Commission, NEC, Chief Humphrey Nwosu.

Vanguard gathered that the gunmen who were dressed in red T-Shirts and black Jean trousers, storm the Police station in a Lexus car, and shot their way into the Police station after killing a policeman that accosted them on entry and a civilian.

They were said to have released all the people detained in the Police Station and ordered them to leave the premises of the station without further delay or have their lives snuffed off.

An eye witness told Vanguard that the road leading to Oko, a nearby town to Ajali, has cordoned off by security men who were engaged in a gun duel by the rampaging gunmen.

The incident according to the eyewitness threw the entire Ajali, Akpu and other neighbouring towns to Ajali into fear and confusion.

On the attack of Hon. Azubogu, the driver of one of the vehicles with registration number, Abuja ABC 307 CM was said to have been shot dead instantly, while the black car in which Hon Azubogu, was supposedly driven had several gunshots.

Azubogu was said to have been abducted, but another account said he was not in the convoy His police orderly was said to have escaped unhurt.

The gunmen were also said to have collected guns from security men at Roban Stores situated along Nnewi –Nnobi road after attacking the lawmaker’s convoy and zoomed off.

As at the time of filing this report, the blue Toyota car with Abuja number and the black jeep with bullet holes were still at the scene of the incident while the dead driver’s body had not been removed.

Newspapers, documents bearing ‘Mr Project’, Azubogu’s pet name, were among other documents which littered the road.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Ikenga Tochukwu, a DSP, was not disposed to pick his call when contacted on the phone to comment on the two incidents.

See as just 7 men take over a Nigerian Police Station.

If not for video evidence, dem go come out and deny the news, telling us their men engaged the UGM and killed some of them, while most escape with gunshot injuries, but their men is still chasing them.

I think I can now pinpoint the group who killed Dora Akuyili husband, driver and the policeman with him.

We can still settle this IPOB and UGM wahala before it totally gets out of hand.

GMB is not fit to be the president of Nigeria, I will blame him for what is happening in the South East too. He didn't handle the issue well at all.

Thank God he was not the one elected as the president ahead of Yardua, there would have been a full blown war in the Niger Delta right now if he won the 2007 presidential election. See the way Yardua made the Niger Delta peaceful. Buhari almost ruined the peace immediately he became the president in 2015, stopping amnesty and started a useless operation crocodile(an operation that could not stop Avengers from bombing oil pipeline)m

I think I can now pinpoint the group who killed Dora Akuyili husband, driver and the policeman with him.

İ rather think Yaradua was weak and doubly owned by OBJ and Ibori. He made too many concessions to the Niger Delta and weakened the Nigerian state.
Things that should never ever have been permitted happened and became the new normal.

This brutal truth I am telling you should have been told with overwhelming force at the Niger Delta.

Now the entire country is a pisspot of kidnapping, bunkering, banditry and yes we are going to give some bandits amnesty.
It is a shame and a mess.
